I've been to a few rodeos in my time. Never again will I attend another. Barrel racing is one thing, but steer and calf tripping/roping result in more deaths than the rodeo industry will ever admit. Whether by fatal injuries suffered during the event, or after it's dragged from the arena and then killed. No more.

@Animatronica The PBR actually did an event without flank straps. Wanna know what happened? The bulls bucked anyway. The only difference was the motion wasn't as straight as it is when they have a flank tied on. The flank doesn't irritate the bull, it just enhances the motion of the buck.

A bulls penis is around the center of his body, then the bucking strap is BEHIND it, in front of the back legs, between the back legs (way behind the strap) are the testicles. In a horse the sheath and testicles are BETWEEN not in front of the hind legs, the flank strap can only go back so far because the stifle joint won't allow it. Most bucking horses are mares or geldings, so there goes that theory.
