Respect for this, Asie is the real deal. This is what the Blues sound like : Deep, raw & unpolished. I just love fat possum for recording these guys like Asie.
I love this music. My grampa used to here this stuff driving through the south; when Fat Possum started releasing records, he pushed the music on me so I could play it for him when I was learning guitar. I still wish I could be as happy doing anything as Asie looks when he's playing guitar. Never seen anyone look that happy.
This is my very favorite DVD of the blues..and I have a lot of them!!! Asie's "I LOVE YOU" rocks tops in my book...the melody, the sound, the words, the .....sigh...I wish he had done at least 3 CD's. My hat is off to Fat Possum Records for this DVD. It took 7 years, but it's rich, deep and varied and has all my very favorite blues musicians! Love, love, love it. It's sooo real!
Hey jteshuwah, radio stations don`t have the balls to try something different, so we miss out on all this music, thank god for Fat Possom Records an Alligator Records
why hasn't anyone commented on this video? why have only 448 people viewed this footage? what the hell is WRONG with this country?! do you have any idea how many views brittany spears's crap has on it? stupid! this guy ROCKS!
@jteshuwah All the same questions I ask myself daily. I figure the only thing I can do is try to influence my kids and it seems to work. My sons uncle took him to see taylor Hicks of AI "fame." Upon returning asked him what he thought of the show. "I just wasted 2 hours of my life." Pretty damn good answer from a 12 year old.
@fuxgood to show you how "outside the loop" i am on today's pop, i actually had to look Taylor Hicks up on wikipedia to know who you were talking about. (sigh) i am glad to say, though, that not ALL the under 30 set is just making noise. just got the album "Fork in the Road" by the Infamous Stringdusters" Amazing! as for your son, bravo! glad to see not every kid is impressed with "oh, oh, oh...." for a chorus! good job with that one! maybe there's hope, yet!
@fuxgood actually, yes, hanna montana IS in the wiki... (no comment) i, surprisingly, think that miley can actually SING, but is too busy being whored out by her father to make up for his (rightfully) failed career, to make anything that remotely sounds like music. sad, huh? and yeah, the stringdusters are really good. they're bluegrass, not blues, but they, for the lack of a better expression, REALLY ROCK! check'em out sometime. got any groups to recommend? i think we think alike. scary!
@jteshuwah I did check them out. I've played with bluegrass bands so sure...it's fine..but my soul is blues. other bands? Sure...Bill Perry,Popa Chubby,Fred McDowell,Junior Kimbrough,Danny Gatton[a friend of mine who passed],Jesse Fuller,Charles Caldwell,Paul Wine Jones,Cedell Davis,Junior Brown,Duster Bennett,Bobby Parker,Root Boy Slim [LOL],Joe Bonamassa,Robert Randolph..ck out his Purple Haze,Otis Rush That'll keep ya busy! Lemme know when ya run out. Yeah...all great minds think alike!
@fuxgood thanks so much! definitely'll check'em all out! like t-model ford, too! and, God, i envy you! would give just about anything just to have seen Danny Gatton LIVE, let alone actually KNOWN him. DAMN! such a real, real shame.
@jteshuwah First met him at the 8 by 10 club.Was a friend of a friend sorta thing. I'm sure I was at the gig in the vid I sent you..lived at that place! When Danny played around the DC area we would go back to his place to hang out afterwards.
@fuxgood thanks so much for this list! had the day off work and went through wiki and youtube checkin' all these guys out. BLOWN AWAY! bill perry, popa chubby and bobby parker play the blues the way they're SUPPOSED to be played today. left my jaw on the table! duster and jesse just tore me up and jr. kimbrough scares the S### out of me! in short, keep 'em coming! can't get enough! hope you don't mind, but i shared your list with another seeker on the 'tube. thanks again!
@jteshuwah hahaha...Jr. Kimbrough ..spooky..master of the blues groove! Certainly spooky! More..Big Bill Broonzy,Lightnin' Hopkins,Bukka [or Booker] White,Robert Belfour,Rory Gallagher,Mance Lipscomb,JB Lenoir,Jesse Mae Hemphill,Sam Chatmon,Johnny Winter [u know him I think],Robin Trower,T Model Ford,Mike Morgan,Slim Harpo,Howlin Wolf,Roosevelt Sykes,Robert Pete Williams,Sleepy John Estes,Black Ace,Son House..More if ya want..and sure..go ahead and spread the word! Ima blues fan of 40 years
@fuxgood you've probably heard of him already, but i stumbled over this guy listening to Kimbrough. Richard Johnston. Good stuff! wiki says he learned under kimbrough, burnside and hemphill. tell me what you think and thanks for helping me find my way around the the blues!

@jteshuwah Taylor Hicks is in the wiki? Sheesh. I guess Hanna Montana is in there too. [roll eyes, smirk, pound head against wall]
...and good to know that not all the under 30 set has been taken over by what promoters WANT us to hear.
