  • it fires tranquilizer?

  • I was wondering if it was like a the luger pistol, but it is different.

  • by the way, I believe it's discontinued, but gemtech made a full barrel/reciever with integrated silencer all milled in one long straight tube, it's called the gemtech oasis.

  • I would love to have one of these with a 10 inch barrel with threading for a suppressor and nice glow sites.

  • The Ruger Mk II is by far the better pistol as compared to the Mk III. The Mk II doesn't have the ultra-gay, over-sized California-special loaded chamber indicator, the stupid magazine disconnect safety, and it allows for easier take-down and assembly.

Zboyco tries to talk up the MkIII over the MkII because he owns the newer (and inferior) pistol. He clearly is not very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms.

  • @RadarGuidedVermin disagree. if you're getting a bull barrel the chamber indicator is null, if you get the volquartzen accurizing kit for the mkII along with the mkII bushing, you eliminate the magazine disconnect hassel, (and dont say it adds expense, i'd be buying a new hammer/trigger anyways, it's not that much)

  • @EpicHeroSandwich Then it's no longer a stock Ruger pistol. It's a little like saying the Yugo is not a slow car because I could put a Ferrari engine in it.

  • @RadarGuidedVermin it's a simple mod that's usable for both versions. if you care that much about the gun you'd accurize it either way. the lawyer features are meh. all i'm saying is everything you're complaining about is easily remedied.

  • @EpicHeroSandwich I'd just rather get the Mk II. That way the stupid lawyer features are remedied from the start, I still have a stock Ruger, and I don't have to spend any extra money to undo what shouldn't be there in the first place.

The Browning Buck Mark is another way to go.

  • Do you know where i might be able to buy one of these? i have been looking every where but havent had any luck, thanks

  • why they no make this excelent gun in other caliber like 22 magnum or 17hr?? that could be awesome.

  • i quite like how the slide is sortof inside the gun, so the sight's wont move when firing

  • How much does that cost

  • @ARMYBRATX7 I picked mine up for 245.

  • i really want a Ruger Mark and Suppressor for my first gun... i love the trigger action its short pull

  • A nice gun !

  • I love mine but reassembly of the mainspring housing and bolt pin is the greatest PITA you can imagine.

  • Looking for a semi-auto .22 that will last long enough for your great-grandchildren to use? The Mark II is it.

  • love the mark ii other than the clip release

  • great review as usual. Everyone I know who owns one says it's a blast to shoot.

  • I just have to say, if I haven't already, that this is a fantastic video.

Last night I went to the gunstore to get a cleaning kit for my Jericho 941, and look at some .22LR's (I wanted a semi auto fun gun), and they had just gotten in a used Ruger Mark I Target a few days prior.

Long story short, I still need a 9mm cleaning kit, but I will pick it up on Monday when I pick up my new Ruger.

I will be referring to this video again for some help if I need any.

  • hehe i dont think it was one of the most popular :p

  • ugly

  • My mom has an old mk1 and it shoots great

  • Absolutely love my Ruger Mark ii target model. Accurate, cheap to shoot and just plain fun! Great piece!

  • will bulk ammo work in this

  • is ruger german? when yes... german YEEEHAW!

  • haha wow! i was just thinking a few minutes ago how it looked like the nambu!

  • This thing is a fucking time vampire to field strip.

  • Ruger MKII was the pistol I've been introduced to guns first with, this is back when I were 5-6 years old. It's the stainless steel colour version, with the reddish emblems. At over +20 years old, this pistol keeps on going flawless without jamming after at least 30 000 shots (may well be near to 50 000 shots, it's been used by my whole family). Just keep it clean and use quality ammunition and it's one of the most reliable pistols, at least out of the ones I've tried more then few times.

  • fuck the 22LR, 9mm or 7,62x25mm rules!

  • its BITCH to clean

  • Wow this is the first person on video I've ever heard call America a republic.

At glad people actually know this. Makes me want to roll my eyes every time someone calls America a democracy.

  • @jaknife99 America is an olgiarchy, not a republic. Only a republic in name only, like only a democracy in name only. Actually, I would call it more of a thugocracy. Everything about America was crooked from the start, from the land ripped off from the Indians, to slavery, to civil rights violations, etc. I think when the original squatters and rabble traitors broke from England, they just wanted freedom, but they adopted the criminal English court system, and then the Civil War made it worse

  • @cobrachoppergirl what does this have to do with a 22 pistol????

  • @cobrachoppergirl

Better make them change the pledge of allegiance then. ;) Well. not like we get to use it in schools anymore anyway :(

to the OP. Nice little review of the MK2. I've been playing with the idea of picking one of these up. Just not sure yet. There are just so many options for .22lr pistols.

  • @cobrachoppergirl Well, you're certainly free to move somewhere else. I hear Somalia's real nice this time of year.

  • @almaster666

I know, right? What's up with people speaking their minds and questioning their government? They should all be shipped off to China. The founding fathers would be rolling in their graves.

Down with liberty, up with jingoism.

  • @jaknife99 The U.S can be defined as a constitutional republic and a representative democracy.

  • @jaknife99 I know! finally someone that knows what a republic is?! i'll tell you what it isn't. the republic of China, or the republic of Russia.

  • @jaknife99

Your comment may be 5 months old but by the grace of God I had to reply to it. THANK YOU for bringing this to the attention of those who may not know!

Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than hearing someone say this country was founded as a Democracy and being able to raise my hand and just say "Excuse me, your not right, please let me explain the difference."

I got this from Rush Limbaugh when I was about 16 years old and took my Lib history teacher to task on it! God bless!

  • @jaknife99 true but atleast you dont live in the UK like i do...

  • @jaknife99 is it a good thing that it does seem less of a democracy america and more like a republic? It being a repubic kinda hinders utterly the whole american dream that anyone can succeed when not everyone can because always some will rule over others.

  • @jaknife99 I thought a republic was just a form of representative democracy. Arn't they techicaly both accurate terms?

  • @silverd20 Yes, but sometimes people mis-view how our government system works when they hear democracy. And politicians don't help by using the word over and over.

The real problem is the amount of ignorant people living here.

    In short the media sucks.

  • It's not suppressed. The heavy barrel keeps the pistol from flipping up as much as it would if it were very light. It also provides more even heating and cooling, which affects accuracy.

  • Nice review. Do you recommend 22 Hi Velocity ammo or do you use Standard Velocity? Someone told me that the High Velocity will damage the gun? Can anyone clarify this for me. Thanks

  • how comes this gun is already made suppressed?

  • Absolutely fantastic video.

I have had the pleasure of firing one of the first Mark I's that dated to the 60's-70's and it was beautiful.

I'm looking to get a pistol next, and it's a close call between another .22LR or if I go for a centerfire.

  • I've got one, I love it. A really fun pistol.

  • hey, i have the airsoft version, i love the look and feal of it, its great, I dont konw what the real one is like, but it seems amazing, i love mine too, even though its only a gass pistol, but its good, would love t get one of these too!

  • my dad has a ruger mk. ll, i love shooting it.. it is beast but it has a tapered barrell, still beast though.

  • I have 3 Ruger Mark IIs . . . would not trade them for anything . . .

  • I have a stainless slab side mark 2 with ruger's wood grips

  • The Mark II is better than the Mark III IMO. I think that loaded chamber indicator affects the feeding on certain types of ammo creating failure to feeds. My friends Mk III had multiple FTFs while my Mk II with the same ammo shot flawlessly. I also don't like the Mk III's inability to fire without a mag inserted. If you can get a Mark II over a Mark III, get it. The mag release location is the only thing better about the Mk III over the Mk II. Mk IIIs are still OK guns, just ammo picky.

  • I really love the Ruger mk II and III. Best pistols EVER made.

  • Laughed out-loud at 2:30

Wonderful video. I have a growing interest in particular fire arms despite not being a heavy gun aficionado. I do however, have a heavy interest in Japan, and so when following the trail of the Nanbu/Nambu I wanted to know more about the Ruger.

  • It would be so cool if they made these designs in a 9mm.

  • I recently found a Ruger Mark I for a good price. Does anyone know of any significant differences between the Mark I and the Mark II that I should know about before buying? Will aftermarket accessories made for Mark II work for Mark I? (I'd like to get a Pac-Lite barrel one of these days)

  • @supermonsterdeluxe The Mark I uses a 9 round mag and the bolt doesn't lock open after the last round is fired, that's all I know about the differences.

  • I hate that the magazines for the MkII won't work with the MkIII.

  • @TheScienceFoundation

Because they have different designs. And the magazine's are made for the specific pistol.

  • @vol009S but the Mk magazines will work with the MkII and vice versa

  • These guns rarely malfunction. I feed mine American eagle ammo and it feeds voraciously. I have a Mk3 22/45 with a gunsmith-made grip modification to allow it to take 1911 panels. It really worked out well! Just love my Ruger Mk. It is an excellent pistol and I house mine in a custom made holster from "Battlecloth". Custom USA manufactured. The name may to some sound a bit corny, but this is the best field holster in terms of quality and function I have EVER seen for this pistol.

  • cool were watching for keeping our mind off of a tragic thing that happened last night

  • @AjackLee4 what was it?

  • @reaper83001 it was 6 months ago i'm not goanna say

  • hi everyone what do you think i should get the 5.5 inch bull barrel or the 6.8 inch tapered barrel???????????????????????

  • @snowsniper8 Bull, it's more accurate

  • I just ordered a mark 3 with a 4 inch barrell for $290. This is a gun I have wanted for a long time. Just don' t want to tell the wife.

  • This isn't a firearm, this is a training tool.

  • @Keichwoud357 It's a firearm if it involves gunpowder, a projectile, and can kill you.

This follows all three. Trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of one of these. This pistol essentially ends the 9mm vs. .45 ACP argument. Each shot is weak as fuck in comparison, but the recoil is so non-existent that you can put every shot in the clip into someone's torso from 50 yards away in 2 seconds.

  • @Keichwoud357 It can still be lethal...

  • hi scootch00 i didnt know they uses a 22lr for special covert missions?? why would they use it i guess its pretty good of you take a head shot??? pleas answer?

  • @snowsniper8 I can answer this one for you, they use it because when used with an integrated silencer, it's the quietest pistol in the world. It's highly accurate, and yes, it is very useful if you can manage a headshot. It's also useful for guard dog suppression or destroying small objects like surveillance cameras without being heard.

  • @karinosai i never really thought about that, thanks for replying!

  • @snowsniper8 No problem, buddy.

  • That was a great video sootch00, I've got the MK II competition target slab side SST model and just love it. And I never have any problem's with it. You can shoot these gun's all day for just pennies on the dollar. One thing for sure is they can keep the MK III's, I'll stick with my MK II.

  • how much do these usually sell for? and are they fairly common to find?

  • i thought something was wrong with it when the slow motion started

  • this videos so great no one disliked it. thats awesome.

  • you know you did a good job on a video when there are zero dislikes!

  • its funny me and my dad own this gun along a henry us survival rifle ar 7. they are very similar

  • This Ruger - is my dream...

  • It would have sucked if he shot his own camara

  • Look at the left hand slab,by the trigger guard, and you will notice a slight cut out (at least on mine). I found an aftermarket kit once(should have bought it), that allowed a used to have a magazine ejection lever; placed similar to other semi autos(lower back end of the trigger guard). The cut out appears to be from the factory, why they didn't advertise this magazine release option more?????

  • will this be an ideal wapon to assasinate justin bieber whit?

  • @MrPlaystationboy any weapons

  • @MrPlaystationboy who is justin bieber

  • Definitely an awesome pistol. I have my dads MarkII stored with my guns and I love it. I hope to one day buy my own however since I'm storing it, I take it out alot. Shot it last weekend in fact.

  • Every red blooded American needs to have a Ruger Mark pistol in their collection....that and a 10/22.

  • I have an old out dated Ruger Mark I that belong to my late father. Its a great pistol and it was the first semi pistol I every fired at the age of 12. The only problem is I can not find any magizines for the Mark I Unforturnley my dad never got a second magizine for it and I can not find one or an after market one for that matter. Does anyone know how I can find mark I Mags ? The weird part of the gun is that the manufacture put the logo upside down on the grip.

  • @Captb55806 Cheaper than dirt has then, about 20 bucks...I just checked....

  • @tacticalfairy Thanks for the help but I found out that Midway USA has it

for a better price at $18.00

  • really quiet on here what about in real life

  • .22 is the perfect round.

  • it's a pretty fun gun to shoot

  • Solid Snake Approves!

  • A good video. I have one of these suckers (the standard model/tapered barrel) and I love it! I like its luger-esque look.

People who talk trash about these guns jamming are either using horrible ammo or they are just making stuff up.

I would trust my life to my MK II pistol's reliability.

  • Hi Sootch,

Thanks for the great video. I have a Ruger Mark II also but in stainless steal. I got it for Christmas in '95 and it was my first handgun. It's one that I will never part with. It is absolutely a pain to break down for cleaning. Thanks again.

  • like alway s... very good review... i have 3 favorite gun reviewers on you tube... your 1 of the 3

    thanks again for the information....

  • i thaught that the nambu was just a rip off from the luger

  • the mk II has its own built in "supressor". thats the reason it sounds "supressed". beautiful weapon.

  • @swf123456 Only the Amphibian version does. That bull barrel just looks similar to the silenced barrel.

  • cci velocitors seem to work best, I had 7 out of 10 from 100 yds (5" group). they are incredible

  • You did a great job with the video, very professional and informational. I just started shooting a mark 2 competitively and it is the most accurate out for the factory hand gun I have ever fired (that costs less than $1000 new). I have 1.5 inch groups at 50 ft. shooting 1 handed with no rest and I am not a great shot. That speaks wonders for the gun. I put 900 rounds through the gun with 4 different factory mags and never had a single jam.

  • Just picked up a Mark 2 today with bull barrel, my first firearm. I'm being told left and right that the .22 will keep on jamming at the range. Someone confirm or deny?

  • @leotsukerman I've had this MkII for over 20 years and it always functions flawlessly. Any quality 22lr pistol should be reliable with the right ammunition.

    Have fun at the range!

  • @sootch00 Thanks! I'll keep you guys posted.

  • I've had the same 5.5" bull-barrel model in the video for 20 years. Very nice gun, a joy to shoot. I would buy it again in an instant. I believe that all semi-automatic 22 LRs, both pistols and rifles, will occasionally jam, but think this is more a factor of the ammunition.

  • @sootch00 This was my first handgun about 12 years ago, and the most problems youll ever had (keeping in mind that a .22 is just naturally a dirty ammo) will be with dud .22 rounds, i.e. dead/no primer compound. It doesnt have a propensity to jam, just keeps CHUGGING, especially with CCI Mini-Mags, or any high-impulse rounds, but WILL WORK fine with bulk/promotional ammo!

  • @leotsukerman I shot one for the first time yesterday, I put about 1050 rounds through it and never had a jam. The person I was shooting with had a mark 3, He shot as many rounds as I did and had about 2 or 3 jams but he was using after market magazines.

  • @leotsukerman It largely depends on the type of ammo, I have used federal 22's their fin in my rifles but winchesters always jam

  • @leotsukerman How is the 22 holding up? I have the same one...Bull Mark II, stainless, Mine doesnt jam that much at all....just use good ammo....no issues....I have only had issue with ultra budget lead tipped ammo....like blazers.....

  • @leotsukerman I'm sure it's much like my MkIII. I shoot it rapidly, but I love cleaning it too. Hasn't been a problem. I LOVE THIS GUN! Kudos, Ruger. I'd give yourself a few hours to take it apart the first time! HA, But then again your MkII has probably been broken in for you if you bought it used. Happy shooting and congratulations on becoming a gun owner :) Join the NRA.

  • @leotsukerman ruger make some of the finest pistols and no, they dont jam, if yours do, then there is something wrong with it...

ruger mark 1,2,3 = never jam

walther p-22 = never jam -only with cheap ammo

browning buck mark = never jam

    beretta Neo = never jam

    jennings = jam

    cobra = jam

    lorcin = jam

  • @leotsukerman

Clean it every time you shoot. .22 is a very dirty round and if you dont clean it yes it will jam.

    happy shooting!

  • @leotsukerman my friend owns 1 its a great gun but he has problems with it jamming when he loads the magazine full. he usually loads 5 and never has problems when he does that.

  • @leotsukerman mine runs very reliable, all sorts of ammo type and brands.....its a little tricky to reassemble until you do it a few times.

  • @leotsukerman No, not true. I did find that my particular MII likes Federal jacketed ammo. Remington did not work for me. I just stick to the 550 Federal box....no problem. How's the gun doing?

  • @leotsukerman i just got one and shot about 150 rounds through it. it worked great.never jammed up or anything. now a berretta 21a will jam fast

  • @leotsukerman it is a lousy gun

  • @leotsukerman The mainspring may be worn. A $10 part. Replace that and you may have solved the problem.

  • GREAT JOB - thanks for producing such an excellent video review!

It really is a classic pistol and I agree that the bull barrel both looks and feels better for target shooting.

  • TRY THE 'HOGUE' GRIPS....SCARY NICE!

  • We have a similar Ruger. I'm not sure which Mark we have. My dad added a short red dot scope to it. It's a very fun gun to shoot.

  • Those pistols seem pretty awesome. I found some federal .22lr ammo at walmart for 15 now 18 bucks for 550rds. That puts it under 4 cents a shot. That's great for a college student's budget. I think I'll go out and pick one up in a couple months. Thanks for the vid, Sootch00.

  • stallone has one in 'assasins' but it sais its a mk I with suppressor.

  • hey sootch, have you had to change the bolt spring out? I've had literally 10,000 rounds through it and it still kicks. Just curious how a new mkIII performs. I've had mine for 6 years. It goes with me everytime I go to the range.

  • The absolute perfect pistol if your not shooting bad guys

  • these new mk 3 the lower receiver is polymer and the mk 3 has a good weight and balance

  • Very cool target popper!

  • Yes the nambu was a total piece of crap! Hitting it against something hard enough could fire the gun....

  • Close up of the writing on the barrel: "Caution: Point this end away from user".

  • great video sootch! beautiful gun also!

  • Even though I'm not into 22's nice gun and great review missed the old music btw.

  • New camera? I like it.

  • I've owned a Mk. II since '84, mine is a target model with the 6 7/8 bbl. My first target gun, and very accurate. As with all the Ruger's I've owned, it's built like a tank and worth every penny I paid for it. Good video on a classic .22 pistol.

  • is that some silenced barrel?? it looks like it, or?? and it sounds like a silencer

  • @rammsteinlover1337 The Bull Barrel is for weight when target shooting. I like it because it's very balanced and shoots like a dream. It is not suppressed even though it doea look that way. Thanks~

  • @sootch00 thanks

  • @rammsteinlover1337 ,no its not silenced its a 22 they are very quiet with virtually no recoil.

  • @rammsteinlover1337 If you want it suppressed, tactical solutions offers an upper that has an integral suppressor, you obviously still need the NFA tax stamp though.

  • @rammsteinlover1337 No it's just a .22

  • Great Pistol...!

  • The first gun my grandfather handed down to me back in the late 70s was a Ruger Mark II with the tapered 4 inch barrel. Still have it today and I love to shoot it.

  • I have the MK II with the tapered barrel....good gun.

  • i have that exact model in silver. chipmunks run in fear when they hear that action cycle. nice toy sootch.

  • Good review mate, I just got a MK III 22/45 and very happy with it. Extremely accurate, I've put 600 rounds through it not one problem. Now looking forward to the infamous take down process for it's first clean.

This is definately a pistol to keep for life.

  • Great video. Nice montage at the end!

  • ruger's are hard to beat .

  • can you make a video on the Alfa Holek 22lr revolver please?

  • @thephoenic That's a new one on me. If I ever do, I'll be sure to do a review. Thanks~

  • I have a Mk 3, not taken to the range yet. How many rounds before you need to disassemble and clean ?

  • @georgiacatweazle I used to be a clean freak with my guns, but now I'm not so picky.... I shoot too much. Id shoot atleast 500 rds before I clean. If you shoot copper washed bullets, it will not get as dirty as plain lead. Have fun with the MK III.

  • @sootch00 thanks for the info. hope you enjoy your new home, good luck with that.

  • Great video. I have the mark II "great eight" 8 inch version. A little heavy but works great.

  • Awesome pistol! Awesome review!

  • Good Stuff...

  • @TheOtherEddie Thanks Bro~ Now all we need is your 22/45 and do a comparison video : )

  • @sootch00 All you had to do was ask... Later!

  • I came very close to buying one of these but at the last minute I was offered a super sweet Colt Model 41. I still might get the Ruger. I think it looks great in stainless.

  • We have one of these at the gun range and most new shooters choose this weapon. For some reason it attracts people.

The one thing I do not like about it, is the magazine release. I rather have a regular button release. Other than that I would not mind owning one...

  • Everytime I watch one of your videos I get powder burns on my glasses from getting too close to the screen! Nicely done, which I had a Ruger !

  • Great review sootch!!!

  • I have a Ruger Mk II with a bull barrel and a Red Dot scope I use for varmint hunting. It's a tack driver but doesn't like to feed anything that isn't copper plated. CCI Mini Mags have been the best performers after thousands of rounds and a little trial and error. Not always the cheapest though.

  • good video sootch keep up the great work

  • Comment removed

  • I own one of these. Very fun gun for plinking. Saves me money when I decide to take this to the range w/ some other firearms.(I tend to put more time into this, so I end up not using the larger more expensive ammo, as much.) Super accurate, ergo, and just plain enjoyable to shoot. I highly recommend this gun.

  • rimfire = go with ruger

centerfire = don't go with ruger

    imo

yep, ruger makes the best 22lr's hands down, both handgun and rifle

  • Please do a review on the Tokarev TT33
