When we went to Hong Kong last April we were also on business class, and prior to the flight i was very excited expecting to experience their newly reconfigured plane but too bad the plane we fly with had the old one.
They usually fly an A330 from Manila to Sydney/Melbourne. I'm not sure if I've been in a 747, maybe with Singapore Airlines, but I'm sure they're just the same as most aeroplanes :P
As far as Philippine Airlines' flights between Manila and the U.S. are concerned, 747-400s are flown on their daily services to/from Los Angeles (PR102/103) and San Francisco (PR104/105). (In fact, I too aim to fly on one my next U.S. trip.) In addition to those, there is one extra A340 flight to LAX on Wednesdays and Sundays, and one to SFO on Fridays. Daily Honolulu services, meanwhile, are flown by A340s.
Does anyone know what if PAL regularly deploys one of their B747 on their flights to and from Cebu? I'm planning to get a ticket to visit Cebu and I want to ride PAL's B747. :) Thanks!
It's not all the time that a 747 is utilized on Cebu, Davao, and GenSan flights; from what I know, they are only deployed during peak travel season, and even then, it depends on aircraft availability. Normally, these flights are flown by A330s.
I so totally agree with bbchami. Philippine Airlines needs to train their flight attendants and teach them all about customer service. It's also time for PAL to buy new air crafts.
tried mnl-sfo before(first and last ever). it's not scary. it's just something to do with old fleet (and i mean really old) and bad customer service (disappearing act of FA's during mealtime. i now fly UA, CX or SQ(best)
Yeah PAL is not bad at all from the FLight Comfort the only Problem in my Oppinion is that the fleet is so old!!! I hope when they get their 777this Year they gonna get better.
Hello there, Alex. I haven't yet been on board PAL's 747-400s, but I DEFINITELY plan to (and also sit in Mabuhay Class upper deck, like you did) on my next U.S. trip... :)

Dear All,
I have some questions about psycholgy:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we like to seat on the upper deck of a Boeing 747 instead of the low we deck?
(3) How do we feel differently to seat on the upper deck comparing with to seat on the lower deck?
(4) If you are the interior designer, how will you design the upper deck of a Boeing 747 in order to make it more enjoyable with more fun?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

Does anyone know if PAL uses the B747 for flights from Honolulu to Manila? or do they only use A340?
i REALLY want to ride a 747.

I think they probaly use A340s because it takes in less fuel than the 747. sorry
