@prince1280 If what you say is true then name one team from Maryland that is ranked in the Nation. And if you ask me to name teams from Pa and NJ then I will have to give you an email because there aren't enough characters in these comment threads for me to name them all.
I don't know what state you're from but if you live on the East Coast you know that wrestlers from Maryland kill at all of the tournaments in the region and that's a fact!
@prince1280 I remember growing up wrestling & there were tough wrestlers from Maryland but here in PA there is solid wrestling through Jr. high & HS. Since Pa is bigger & has more schools I would say the competition is bit tougher...
I can honestly say Maryland has the toughest tournaments! Whenever I travelled to NJ or PA with high school age wrestlers, they would be so pumped because of the reputations those states had. But they would soon find that wrestling top kids from PA ,NJ and other states wasn't much of a chanllenge. I mean I've tossed top PA kids around myself and I was surprised because the tournament director would tell me that the kid was on scholarship! We stopped going (to PA) because it was a waste of gas!
Jordan Oliver is a great wrestler but I don't think he would have won three state titles in Maryland. The competition at the county and regional levels would have made it hard for him to place. Maryland high school wrestling is the best on the East Coast. No joke!
Check out my video i just finished about high school wrestling. It's the main video on my channel. If you truly love wrestling, it should be a joy for you to watch.
Yes, Easton lost to Northampton it was the only loss in the regular meet season this year. Northampton is very good and proved to be dominant on that day. As to Blair, Easton lost to them in a tournament, Blair is in a different system as they are a Prep school and can recruit from anywhere in the nation, Easton cannot. Blair is in a class by itself, I believe they have not lost a meet since 1993. Exceptional team.
Although Easton does not expect to beat Blair, at this time, they still arrange to wrestle them every year as Easton is always seeking the best competition they can find as long as it is feasible to get together with the other teams, travel, ime etc... and wrestle.
Jordan Oliver's 3 PIAA titles and one r/u are the prelude to the next level as a "Cowboy." The fact that he's not a pinning specialist may hurt him.
Although he's obviously stronger than he looks, he still needs to hit the weights. This is something Matt Ciasulli did not do and it cost him hugely at Lehigh.
yo P.J tell em bout long island wrestling i seen a lot of 135 wrestlers better than this kid oliver and this kid is 3 time state champion?yea penn wrestling is over rated big time
He's a 2 time not a 3 time state champ, YET His team goes around the country competing. Teams fly in from OR, TX as well as overseas just to compete with them. They consistently prove themselves in different types of Wrestling. This school has produced State, National, NCAA champions, Olympic Gold medalist. This Wrestler has won national titles and been signed to Oklahoma State under John Smith. How is that overrated? Anyone who classifies them as "overrated." needs to check their facts.
Long Islanders have been annoying for a long time with their bullshit. They used to be pretty damn good but the rest of the state (partic. sections 4 and 5) have caught up with them, and surpassed them in the last few years.
Easton pretty damn good, they need to try out Ny's top team year in and year out, Spencerport (from Rochester, NY).
Im guessing youve never seen Oliver live. And he isnt 135 he was 119 that last year...Pennsylvannia wrestling is definatly some of the best in the country
what a uninformed, rediculous comment. He is rated #1 in the nation, by some they say he is #1 at any weight. As to the rest of the team. They travel all over to find worthy competition. They are not the best in the nation, but among them. Won REno tourney of Champions agin!
EW speaka da' true but some of our 3 and 2 time PIAA champs from the Lehigh Valley have not kept pace.
Matt Ciasulli--Easton (3x champ)
Jeff Eckloff--Northampton (2x champ, 1 r/u)
e.g.
We are currently resting our hopes on Tim Darling (Nazareth) and the book is still open on Joey Eckloff, 3 each.
One of our GOAT was a one-time champ, Gino Fortuobono (sp?) Easton, who sadly went to both ESU and Lock Haven but did not stay at either, never wrestled a bout. Maybe EW knows more.
let me ask you something....I have been off the mat for some time.....In the ride out didn't oliver clasp his hands when he had the stems in and they were standing? was the ok because they were standing and when they came to the mat he had to let go ?
i watched oliver wrestle last year at the national duals. He is very talented. He wrestled the team i was on (i think diesel) and they crushed us. He teched our 112 lber. in the first period. That 112lber just happen to be a maryland state champion.
For those that did not like the music... I had to cover my own personal voice comments during the match. Then rather then have you hear dead silence I thought this music would suffice. Would you prefer silence? BTW that "worst music" is among the most acclaimed musical pieces ever written. So much for constructive critisism.
personally i would like to hear screams and shouts at wrestling tournaments, dont get me wrong im into the classics but classics arent for wrestling. anyways that was so much stalling it was bs. i dont care 30 seconds or a period left they should of called stall calls.

Your fucking trippin, pennsylvania is consistently top 5 roughest states in high school wrestling, maryland is one of the weakest

@prince1280 also Jordan Oliver just won NCAA D1 133lb title.....so he probably would have pinned everyone from Maryland. Just an FYI
