  • Why did you cover the band of gesso?

  • Great technique, I definitely learned something new today. I'm not a great artist, but I'm learning by playing in my art journal.

  • I love that you work fearlessly and spontaneously and share all your ideas, and that it isn't all 'purty and perfect'. One year of that in art school and I changed my major to psych and didn't draw for twenty years. Only in the last year in discovering art journaling do I really feel free to just play. Thank you for being a part of that world.

  • Wow, great idea! I like it! I'll sure try it myself :)

  • cool

  • Hi there I really love what you did. I am planning to start on an art journal but I am bad at art. Any tips on that? I wish i can paint so effortlessly like you do. Great work :D

  • Thanks for the healthy dialogue everyone!

  • cute idea. i'm a big fan of cutting things out of magazines, so i'll definately try this one :)

  • i tried this with a picture of a dancer and it turned out so cool! thanks for all your great vids! inspiring!

  • i miss art class in high school...i wish i could take art in college

  • L'idée me plait, j'ai très envie d'essayer!

    Merci!

  • I think it's a great idea. ( I favor modest female rolemodels, because women are too often viewed by men in a sexual/object kind of way. I would have favored seeing a women better clothed. I'm old fashioned that way.) I really enjoyed the end result of your technique. I plan to try something like this myself. Just curious, but why did you hide the label on your gesso? Are you not supposed to show it on Youtube for copyright reasons?

  • when I'm going to take my art elective in high school, this is the technique that I will use ;P

  • art is subjective.

  • love love love love love it *<:o)8 (clown)

  • Great technique for those who are timid about drawing! I'm enjoying yours videos. Thanks!

  • Cool technique, and thanks for sharing! I like it, and the colors go well together....btw.

    It's fun and clever.

  • @eilujotos Thanks for your opinion! My art journal typically isn't a place where I place criticism on my work. I value open expression, kindness and a forgiving atmosphere to explore all creative potential. I checked your channel out for some inspiring artwork and didn't see any? Do you have a place for your art online I can be inspired by? Looking forward to your reply :)

  • @theoneminutemuse jealousy is ugly isn't it? I admire your kind reply to such ignorance. ;)

  • @theoneminutemuse are u being sarcastic?

  • @theoneminutemuse Witty -and- Artstic. Subscribed. <3

  • @theoneminutemuse I know this is dead business, but most people are good at criticizing work only. Just because it was a harsh opinion doesn't mean you have to flag or search him/her down for something inspiring of their own. It doesn't mean you have to change, it's something to keep in mind that your audience can notice and maybe a point that you would like to expand on. I agree art is expressed in your own way & there is no right or wrong, but it's wrong to degrade your audiences thoughts.

  • @Looseideations My intention is never to degrade anyone's thoughts. I understand your points and agree with you. However, in my art journal I don't find any criticism helpful. Too many people don't draw, paint, play or even TRY because their inner critic prevents it or they are self conscious of the opinions of others. I'm very aware of harsh opinions and use them to grow professionally, but not in my art journal. For me the distinction is simple, easy and liberating. Seeking inspiration always.

  • @eilujotos

Really? Not sure why you would bother to place a comment.

  • @eilujotos i honestly dont know why your comment has so many negative votes. you comment was just constructive criticism. i guess many idiots here think that all you should ever do is compliment a persons work.

criticism is necessary, or else itll take forever for people to improve. anyways i agree with what you said. the browns/brownish red in the girl doesnt go with the bright colorful background.

  • @penguincheesecake I thought I was the only "commenter" agreeing with him/her

  • @eilujotos You sound like my high school art teacher. I spent 2 years trying to get into her class...then a few weeks after a spot opened i she handed me some selfritous BS like what you just said. I walked out and ditched that class the rest of the year. Please stop trying to make everyone as unhappy with thier work as you must be.

  • Hope to see more journal page ideas!

  • Great technique. TFS

  • Very simple..thanks for posting this...also would love to know the source of the background music...I could get lost in that for hours :)

  • This is something I never thought about doing with the kiddos I teach..but I bet they would LOVE it!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • I really liked this technique. I have used it in the past. But it was fun how you placed it on a painted background for interest.

  • Check out my paper towel dye video for a cool background idea. Just glue the towel down and your ready work on top of a funky, easy-to-make background. Keep up the great work creating!

  • I need to try this! Thanks for sharing!

  • I'm gonna have to try that one again. I had forgotten about it.

  • Yes, an oldie but a goodie. It really helps practice your proportions and figurative studies.

  • Very cool idea!

  • LOVE this fun technique! Thanks!
