i'm sorry but the constitution DOES NOT allow for a DC vote. it CLEARLY states that ONLY states can have representation in congress. pass a constitutional amendment to allow it then this is legal. how hard is that to understand? but again this is the party that circumvents the constitution all the time

Very true, either the Congress has to pass a Constitutional Amendment allowing an exception to Article 1 Section 2 of the Constitution, or DC needs to renounce it's District status and become a state with all the responsibilities of at state. Unless one of these happens, the DC Voters rights act will be UnConstitutional.

The Constitution gives Congress the right to pass any legislation over DC, and the elastic clause should allow it to pass a law that grants DC a vote in the House. They pay taxes too. Remove those before you deny them their vote.

You missed my point., (I suspect it was on purpose just to raise an argument). As I said (and you ignored) I am fully in favor of DC getting all the rights of any state, I am simply not in favor of running rough-shod over the rule book the way liberals always try to do. DC needs to become a state, or Congress needs to pass a Constitutional Amendment. Not some "end run" bullshit like they do on every other issue. We need a clear rule, not some murky load of liberal BS to resolve the issue.

The Constitution explicitly states that members of congress shall be chosen from the several STATES, and you liberals like to gnore the Constitution. Speaker Pelosi is full of it...

If it renounces its status, it goes back to Virginia and Maryland. Virginia and Maryland were nice enough to give us the Capitol and so it belongs to them. But, an Amendment is needed, or we can just not tax residents, or allow them to serve in the military.
