I wouldn’t pay those subhuman sleazebags to clean up after my dog. Debt collectors are only in their line of so-called “work” because neither the job nor the employee is wanted anywhere else, but this latest prevision of technology is a new low which even most telemarketers have not sunk to.

Debts are no longer debts if paid off by a DCA. The DCA becomes a third party and is not included in any contract you have signed. Keep calm and repeatedly demand evidence of this (which they won't have.) Simple!

@philartio that is the case in Australian law as well,

"contracts are private arrangements that can only affect the people who agreed to them. Other people, known as third parties or strangers to the contract, cannot incur obligations nor can they acquire any tights under the contract" -from my law text book. Over here after 6 years with no action the debt is waived. I have had debt collectors chasing me the last decade, i dont pay them a cent

I suspect it is actually the disgruntled client making the calls and simply having their computer read the message.

My co-worker wanted me to record this and put it on YouTube.  A disgruntled client gave her name and work number to a debt collector and it has been replicated into many databases. Doesn't matter that they don't owe ANYTHING. The agencies won't listen to them and keep calling.

In that case send them a cease and desist notice. In the notice tell them that you will only accept written correspondence from now on. And, you will, from now on, charge them a fee for the service of answering their calls if they choose to ignore the notice. Give them 10 to 15 business days to respond in writing. If they continue to call after that - invoice them for each call they make. If they refuse to pay, begin soliciting debt collection agencies to collect your money for you.

@mjmattson She needs to write, sign, and date, a letter of dispute, stating that the debt is fraudulent and does not exist and therefore will not be paid, and also demanding that no further attempts be made to contact her in regard to the debt, specificly at this number, her work and home addresses "or in any other manner at any other location". That forces the agency to return the debt to the primary company for validation and will stop the contact attempts.

and remember you do not owe collectors money, maybe you might owe some original creditor something but not 3rd parties that tag along under no contract with you.
