I think Matt was fixin' to give it away " In case you haven't guessed where I'm from.... " he was about to blurt out Oz and then I guess he realized he's supposed to give another hint, ahahaha. Anna sounds a bit English but sounds more Australian.
damn how would jenny teach english lol i didnt understand a thing she said lamo people would surely think that she is speaking different language. peace
I'm from Notts and I don't even notice we have an accent until southerners point it out. I think we sound a bit like Mancs as well sometimes with a hint of Yorkshire.
I'm from Nottingham and to be honest hardly anybody speaks as strongly as that theres a few depends on your area but it isnt as common as it would have been for the older generation
This certainly was fun, a good exercise for non-native speakers, as well as native speakers who are interested in dialects. It was rather wicked of Jenny to slip in the word "ain't," though. Trying to teach your students bad habits, Ms. J.?
I think that first guy is from Ohio. Probably Cleveland area. The second teacher is from Boston. Lupita is from Brooklyn. Jenny is from Kentucky. The last guy is from New Zealand! Yay. I got it all right.
Aright Ducks I think you'll find Jenny Is a Notts gal. I can tell me own accent anywhere, "Daan taarn" (Down town) ... who ever said Liverpool has never heard a scouse ... veeery different. this is facinating to me as I have a great interest in dialect and accents so thanks for the vid
I wouldn't usually comment, but, unfortunately I have to say these accents are not very good at all. The only way people could guess where some of them are from (e.g. the New York/Aussie accents) are by what the people are talking about. Sorry guys, no offense, just felt you didn't really do them justice..
@towrong1 There was no Liverpool accent in there you twonk! You'd offend us here in Notts if you told us we sound like scousers. Now gerraata me 'ouse n bugger off.
3) New York, USA (Big "Apple." She doesn't have much of an accent. A hint of Puerto Rican (Spanish), maybe? "Lupita" is hispanic)
4) Nottingham (The bandit is Robin Hood obviously. Anybody who thinks she a scouser really needs to listen to the Liverpool accent a few times. It's unique and very different from this)
5) Australia (The whole "shrimp on the barbie, mate" thing)
Jenny is an atrocious Nottingham! She's got the Eh Up Mi Duck bit but it's a very hard one to do.I'm from Hampshire and have lived here 35 years and still can't do it properly!!
@whoissara she is clearly from Notts/Derby. Its so obvious by the 'ey up mi duck', 'tarrah', and the way she misses the H off words like 'int' instead of 'hint' and also the 'taarn' instead of 'town'
omg i just said this to myself and realised ido lol was about to have a bath before going to town, but realised my shirt was dirty, so I went out to buy a new one i pronounced it I wor joost abaaht ter tek a baff after wok before gooin dahn tahn, but it wor dotteh, so I went aht ter gerra newun. You have got to be kidding me. I've lived in NY for over 17 years, and NEVER have I heard someone speak like Lupita.... nor, for that matter, have I known a single person that plays 'handball'
If anything characterizes NYC, it is the variety of accents you can find there. As for handball players, almost all the kids I knew growing up in the 70s and 80s played. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're probably a bit younger.
I live in Manchester myself but my whole family is from Nottingham. You can tell because she says "ay up me duck", a common phrase used by my great grandad! x
Tbhhh If your really bought up in a nottingham family u will speak like that. and tbh why do people say jenny gives nottingham a bad name because she doesn't pronounce her words correctly doesn't mean shes making nottingham luk bad
