  • We tried to get our band director who marched cavaliers to sing this to us at our last performance.

  • its kinda gay guy should get shot

  • just to quiet the riot, yes their trade mark show stopper... yes, cavies is what we were called. ... yes all male does not = gay(ask ur mom). yes, were better then u

  • he obviously has no real history Cavies played this song from the first year in 1949 through the mid 80's

  • they would be playing over the rainbow. lol.

  • was this in denton texas??

  • It sure was.

  • tight i was all the way down there front row. good day that day.

  • they arent cavies they are cavaliers

  • Cavies is one of their nicknames... if you didn't know that then don't correct anybody about anything regarding drum corps. Thanks

  • lol

  • pwned

  • Actually, you're completely wrong. The Cavaliers don't like to go by the "Cavies". That's what little high school kids call them, they prefer their actual corps name, The Cavaliers. Original poster is correct.

  • Actually, whether they like it or not, it's one of their nicknames. And it's not just ''little high school kids'' who call them that. I have friends throughout other corps, including Phantom Regiment, that call them the Cavies. So original poster is wrong, and now so are you.

  • hows trumpie sound there i just gave you a nickname hows it feel?

  • Feels great. My own nickname. I appreciate it... and now I would also appreciate a point. Your rebuttal?

  • @trumpetgod07 I am a current member of the Cavaliers, we prefer Cavaliers but yes Cavies is a nickname that many people call us. However given the choice we would rather go by our ACTUAL name.

Thank you Frenctic for spreading the the fact that we don't enjoy being called cavies... we actually make fun of people who call us that.

  • @UNTrumpet Make fun of your fans and you don't deserve them. People pay to see you perform, applaud for your performances, and you ridicule them when they call the corp by its widely accepted pet name? Nice.

  • Actually as a former member of the corps we really didn't care what people called us, we just tried to present ourselves well and perform well for the fans, and for the record, it's not just highschool kids that called us the cavies, many adults and alumni still do.

  • So both of the kiddies are wrong now.

  • I'd expect nothing less from a 72+ hornline

what show was this?( I mean city, not year)

  • Denton, TX.

  • is it just me, or did he say that 'this is kind of gay?'

  • Yes he did. Learn to read comments, or at the very least, the info about the video.

He's one of good friends and he didn't mean it. Just a joke.

  • He did and he needs to "Shut Up!"

  • the guy that says "this is kinda gay" is a fag

  • any known song played by a band is awesome lol except for the baha men that would be gay

  • its says in the damn description that he was kidding!!!

  • this group is magnificant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • REAL drum corps members and fans do not use foul language when referring to another corps. This is not the Big 10 conference with trashy fans -it is DCI.

THough not perfect, Santa Clara, Phantom and Cavies respect one another and phuckcali does NOT represent the TRUE drum corps fan. Want to behave like that?

go to Ohio sTate or something else1

DCI ROCKS -so do the Cavies!

  • Trumpets need to take it up more, that song sounds so good with extra octaves. But the again, what doesn't? Cavies rule and will totally beat the Blue Devils in finals this year.

  • Trumpets?

Ah----that would be bugles and refer to the high as

    sopranos.

    trumpets are for bands--thank you.

Devils Brass rocks, Phantom clas awesome,

SCV-a mainstay in DCI-onoy one EVER to be in all top 12-CAvies--bring it on

    Love it all

( I could do without the Cadets door and alice in wonderland but they are good)

    DCI fan since forever!!!!!!!

  • okay, so ive always wanted to know this....WHERE THE FUCK DO I GET TICKETS FOR THIS SHIT?? these shows are the fuckin BEST!!

  • DCI dot org

( you tube does not let you put the e-mail address on so i spelled it)

The season runs from late May or so

up to the second weekend of August

    You want a real blast?

the world championships will be In Indianapolis next August

look on that site and shows for info

    I'll help you out

    this stuff is addicting!

  • Thanx a lot. u really know ur stuff!! :-)

  • no problem

once you see these corps LIVE

it will be in your blood

I assume that you have not been to a contest

    so

    1. NEVER refer to them as a band

    2. 99% of the time it is not like a football game cheer for one and boo the other

    YOu will have your favorites

but most really like all the corps cuz they work so hard

  • 3. When you hear them announce the Bluecoats from Canton, Ohio it will sound like the crowd is saying BOO but they are saying BLUE

    in support of them

    4. A good friend of mine said was in the Marines and Drum Corps

He said the requirements for physical conditioning was so close it was incredible.

    Corps rocks!

any other info, I am glad to help

it is in the blood and will be in yours too!

  • hawkandpanther..unless this was recorded pre-2001, those would be trumpets.

  • Love it!!!

  • you know, if someone did a Pirates of the Caribbean show for DCI, they'd win it all. but, it would have to be the Cavaliers doing it because they'd be the only ones worthy of it. Plus, they'd actually be able to pull it off unlike the Blue Devils, Phantom regiment, or SCV. Cavaliers #1.

  • 2004 Orlando did it. The guard was awesome as hell. They had an 60 yard back hash to front hash, left 20 yd line to right 20 yrd line saber throw and someone else caught it. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen a corps gaurd do.

  • They performed a Pirates of the Caribbean show?

  • Yes, it was amazing, I remember seeing it at 2004 DCI Indianapolis, the corps isn't known well at all but that will be a show I will remember for a long time.

  • Is it on youtube? I can't find it. Cavs should so do that show. With three movies worth of music they could produce one sweet show, and you know it would be practically perfect so nobody would have any beef with them for doing it.

  • I just tried and I couldn't find it either, I just found a drumline video, and according to the DCI website they're not even a corps anymore so I don't know.

  • Nice sound! good song, too. And no, im not gay, i have MUSICAL TASTE.

  • lol man people are trippin. just cuz somebody plays somewhere over the rainbow dont mean they're gay. cavies got first place while those idiots sat at home wishig they were even in drum corps

  • that dude who said that this was gay in the backround can kiss my ass...

  • yeah, he was kidding.

  • lmao. he was kidding man. but yeah seriously cavies can kick some serious ass and they are catching up with bd and cadets in wins. so lookout. man i can t wait to be in drum corps

  • they ONLY can win because they have great GE, they ARE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE in drumming as the BD'S, and NOBODY blows better than PHANTOM. It gets OLD after a while. They play shitty music. 04's "007" was the BEST THING they've done since 1976. Don't get fooled by all the M&M

  • btw....YOUNGBOY.....M&M means MARCHING and MANEUVERING

They have an advantage of using PYWARE very well PLUS the fact that don't have any FAT BITCHES fucking up their look on FLAGS.....LOL All the DUDES are basically the same size. That's partly why last years "MACHINE" won it. It DAMN sure wasn't WHAT THEY PLAYED.

  • That's their STYLE, how come you ain't bitching about Santa Clara. Those bitches play the B sides songs that wasn't even hot A sides......LOL

Fuck you. Go listen to PHANTOM.....AGAIN.....and then listen to the sorry ass Cavs. Can't fucking drum, all they do is march real fast and it's BORING.

They WISH they can play as good as Phantom and Cadets.

  • You don't even KNOW what Phantom even DID back then, you're too fucking YOUNG.

    I'm through with you!!!!

  • Read my comment-and then read this please: refrain from bad sportsmanship. This is not REALLY what DCI is. I love them all. Most fans love them all. We ALL have our favorites. Still, there are a few rude ones. Remember the guy who yawned during Phantoms' show in the early 80's? ( at every show) dont' be like that. I know many -MOST corps shows back to the mid 70's Cavies, SCV, Phantom, 27, spirit it is all GREAT! GO CAVIES! Phantom 96 AWESOME!! WHEW!
  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Although Cavi's do need SOME work on percussion they make up for it. And one thing that makes up for their VERY SMALL weak-points (did I just say that weak-points??? WTF?! Damn backspace key needs some valve oil...it's stuck again) is their balance which they do amazing things with in their shows. And their Visual Sequences are INSANE! If you need to be reminded why the Cavi's are so good go watch Frameworks.

  • You are welcome.

Cavies have VERY FEW weak point.

The shows are so diverse, the sound is rich, subtle and sublime and they have the total package.

    Cavies Percussion is just fine.

The sticking on the snares is awesome.

Blue Devils and Cavies fight it out on brass and perc. but most of the time GE is CAvies.

I like Devils, I LOVE Cavies

  • It obviously worked this year. Maybe they took your advice!

  • Like Coprsbum said... Its about making great f'n music together... Call it what you want, but when your old and have only memories to cherish, I wish we had the devices to us to capture moments like this! Peace on you all... Love the tune and the arrangement! BTW, "The Machine" kicked some serious Drum Corps ASS!!!

  • I was so glad I got to see The Machine. It was incredible.

  • Well when their corps song was chosen in 1951, Somewhere Over the Rainbow had nothing to do with homosexuality. The word "gay" didn't even have anything to do with homosexuality. It was simply a popular song at the time. If some people are too stupid to understand that, then that's their problem.

  • Its cavies they are gay!

There good, 007 was amazing along with the chicago show! But somewhere over the rainbow for your corps song is pretty gay! But hey the cadets should have been "im coming out, I want the world to know" maybe the cavies should take the idea.

or maybe grow some balls and play legend of the one eyed sailor like somebody else i know!!!

  • you know, some corps can play "piano" and soft, some corps can't...

  • Maybe someone you know should learn how to play legend of the one eyed sailor correctly.

  • Dude, I've only been playing mello for 9 months now and I practice for 3 hours or more every day but still...I heard that song three times and I imitated the solo. Yes I hit the high notes too so don't try to bash me on that.

  • Splooie back at you brother! Back when you joined a Corps for life the Coprs song meant something. In the great Corps it still does. Look around at a victory concert or warm-ups. The old guys with tears in our eyes are the Corps Alumni and the old songs are still meaningful. Cheer up kiddies, someday memories of drum and bugle corps are all you will have!

  • I loved watching them perform. You could really tell they played with emotion. It was amazing.

  • I thought it was kinda funny. A lot of them are gay. So what's the problem? He cant call someone gay? Stop judging him you hypocrites. I swear some of you guys could probably lick your own taints and enjoy it.

  • I see. Classy move on his part.

  • the dude who SAID "it was kinda gay" SOUNDED kinda GAY

    how funny is THAT????

  • yeah, he was joking.

  • YOUNG and DUMB

  • yeah ur 41 with a name like shavedballs3 looks like ur old and dumb

  • name means NOTHING. WHAT I SAY...DOES!!!!!!!!

    dickhead

  • you're 40 years old messin with a young guy like me? You might as well be michael jackson...

    "dickhead"

  • dickhead

  • and now you're arguing immaturely with a 16 year old calling him a dickhead. wow i guess our generation DOES have alot of shit to clean up

  • Very much, Rudy. Whoever is saying those things while you are filming, do you have any idea what kind of history and brotherhood this song represents?

  • yes he knows, it was a joke. he's a friend of mine.

  • SPLOOIE!

  • haha, yep.
