I think Obama could be trying to ruin Moderate DEMs Jim Matheson career as Obama makes him look bad by giving his brother federal judge a job on the same day of this of his healthcare proposal speech then had him over for beer, either real bad or looks real bad
Seems to me Obama could be saying "Jim if I go down you are going down with me as Obama tries to make this moderate DEM look horrible.
I'm not Bill Dew, I am just a supporter. But I will ask those I know who help his campaign about it. I have met Bill personally many times and know he is a strong supporter of gun rights and gun owner's rights.
This was pretty bad. The rhetoric is really stupid, attacking a man for leaving, who opposes anyways the drilling inland. I think they do deserve a vacation, and this issue needs to be debated and thought through a whole lot more. The editors of this videos are trying to insinuate that by going on the due vacation, he was voting not to solve this problem, and historically we know that bills thrown over weekends prove to be the most damaging. Then again, it is a political ad, and it is Utah.
Historically "bills thrown [together] over weekends" do prove to be damaging. This however was a 5 WEEK vacation, plenty of time to merely lift the congressional ban on offshore drilling and then some...and go on vacation once finished. The vacation was a direct strategic effort by the House Democrats to avoid the Republicans' efforts to lift the offshore drilling ban. By the way, the recent Democrat bill that charades as an energy bill actually WAS thrown together over a weekend.
You are assuming here that, I am guessing "onshore" (you correct me), it is actually the logical, conventional, long term best solution possible right now that even a kid who is 8 years old could tell you with a complete understanding that it is. I am not saying that it isn't, I am saying that issue is a lot more complex than you are selling it to be. Debates are still happening today and nothing has been resolved. How is it supposed to be resolved overnight?
Hopefully this isn't THE Noam Chomsky (I assume you are just an admirer of his school of thought). The debate is rather simple. There is oil in various places of US domain. Liberals are opposed to extracting it from the earth for environmental reasons: 1.they hate fossil fuels on principle, 2.they have sold out to wacko environmentalists who oppose any extraction methods anywhere. Republicans think this is silly and for economic reasons want to develop those resources. So, let the voters decide.
Not as idiotic as congress who took a vacation in the midst of a gas price crisis or all Americans for that matter who paid outrageous prices for fuel from the middle east while we could have been making headway on developing domestic oil resources. The true idiots here are:
1. Nancy Pelosi and Democrat leaders in Washington.
2. Jim Matheson for casting the deciding vote for a vacation.
3. Americans for taking it and paying such prices without kicking congress to the curb.
Every time you pay a fuel surcharge it is relelvant. Despite the fact that gas prices have fallen a bit, they still did huge damage to the shipping industry which translates into fuel surcharges and increased prices for products, these fees and higher prices remain despite the fall in prices because companies are still recovering from the outrageous prices this summer while people like Jim Matheson were on vacation. Thanks for your uninformed comment.

I miss the DEMs from my childhood, the first to stand against tyranny and socialism.
Like Kennedy, dont ask what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. I miss them.

Bill Dew. Getting a response from you is all but impossible so I'll ask here:
Why didn't you return the survey from Gun Owners of America?

Is this even relevant? The last time I checked, gas was going down.
