its cute, those tards that like to put everything in tiny box for their tiny mind, and stereotype religion, like ppl can't remember who thought of the word god first, except that goes against all written history...the earliest known writings from Egypt, include gods,India(vedas) all are poems and intelligently thought out prose on religion..so religion has been around longer than writing...
@cykoaudio777, and then there's those annoying wastes of humanity who can't pull the stick out of their ass long enough to laugh at a simple joke (especially when they complain about their inferences rather than the actual joke). Oh, and a side note: old =/= good
@cykoaudio777 ...and religion has been around a LOT longer than science. It's how ignorant people explained the scary natural phenomena around them and consoled themselves about upsetting things such as death. But just because something is ancient and kind of interesting doesn't mean it's true. It doesn't even mean it's good, as anyone can see from all the suffering and death *caused* by religion.
But you're right about the sketch being cute, by Vectron's shiny elbows!!!

You insist that I am wrong in my observation, and that you have "FACTS" to prove it. So prove it, as I did to you.
You say that you are a Lecturer in English Literature; but looking at the written structure of your comments, I find that very hard to believe.
You state your home country as being the UK. However; wwith your total lack of English humour, and your insistance in using words such as "dude", and "dick", places you thousands of miles from here.
A glorious analogy of faith from 33BC to Present, done only the way the British can, in less than 5 minutes... Praise Vectron and all it's nonsesical bollocks...
@jamezbond45 What parts don't you get ? I'm not asking that to make fun of you, or slag you off. I'm just curious. It's a brilliant piece of comedy, one of Mitchell & Webb's best. but it would actually take a while to explain 'why' it's funny, insofar as there are a great number of elements that contribute to it's brilliance.
@millionetc There's not much to get, it's hilarious and awesome. It's just that it felt like a joke, maybe a popular joke in Britain that most of the other people were like, 'Hey, it's that Vectron joke!' But I see now that it is just these guys, and all of the commenters are just playing along. I think it's hilarious, but it at the time felt like an inside joke of sorts. I thought it was funny from the beginning, and I still do, but sometimes it came off as a British joke, due to the comments.
@johnpetermalcolm No, it's just that it seems like a reference to something, that most everybody else got, but I didn't. I understand now that this is just amazing silliness, with no reference behind it. But thanks for the duck joke, that made me laugh.
I was expecting them to play out a scene with all the praising of Vectron so viewers would think they are weirdos, then switch to an identical scene but in a church with brown robes and saying the same script with "God" instead of "Vectron"
There are many great M&W sketches, Homeopathic hospital, WW2 pilots, brain surgeon at party, corner shop alcoholic, the list is endless but this Vectron sketch is probably the best.
There are so many names that you can replace "Vectron" with...but i'd be killed for suggesting any. Or at the very least, flamed by a couple hundred religious people.
@Alwynne100 the idea of god comes from ancient man being at lest smart enough to observe that the world had to have come from some where combined with our natural human inclination to attributer consciousness and thought to events and objects
Hehe, Imperial Chancellor Steve and Vice-Sky Marshal Tim sound jolly nice. It reminds me of the Armstrong and Miller sketch with the very normal sounding space opera names.

Otherwise everything would "sound" the same, and since we don't want a world populated by grammar freaks who insist on complete conformity of the English language, might I add "NYEAAHHH".
@skullthief2008 No, I just hate it when people assume that everything must be written in the exact same way. This is a good example of humour, that uses irony in such a way that it amuses us Brits.

If it was pouring down with rain, a Brit might say "Lovely weather for ducks".
What we are doing here is using irony; we are making a joke, without being obvious about it.
