  • Tim, Pete, Steve ... wouldn't it be ace if sci-fi heroes all had normal names?

  • I've been searching for this clip for ages :D Thanks for the upload.

  • This is my favorite Mitchell and Webb skit.

    I'm an atheist.

  • 6 people need to be introduced to Vectron's un-kindly claw!

  • this seems like a piss take of scientology lol ^^

  • Something about the scrolls? Two days later the cult of Vectron was sued by Bethesda, and so began the series of mishaps and accidents that would bring about, The Event...

    REMAIN INDOORS

  • @scaryninja1693 DON'T THINK ABOUT THE EVENT!

  • By Vectron's kindly claw!

  • At first I thought that this was going to be an advertisment for a power company. Boy was I disappointed, by Vectron's Stable Voltage and Lower Prices! By the way, it it a commandment not to take Vectron's Holy Name in vain? If so, we're all in big trouble, by Vectron.

  • "Er...no. Pete said it all started 3 weeks ago when he was ill" - such an epic line. If only Star Wars had dialogue like that.

  • Isn't that the Space : Above and Beyond theme tune in the background?

  • LOVE the robes of state!

  • ...the soundtrack! Space: Above and Beyond!!!

  • By Vectron's glorious helmet, answers to the following are demanded:- i) did Tim find his plectrum? ii) is the ink still wet on the ancient scrolls? iii) how goes the galactic endeavor? on time and under budget I hope! iv) was Pete really ill that Thursday? or was he faking it and just had a day off to be with Steve's wife.

  • @Luckman42 i) Yes, it was under the couch ii) No. They used biro. iii) The Endeavor is going splendidly, by Vectron's left nostril! iv) Yes. No.

  • @NonnyMus1 ..by Vectron's five ankles, I give praise to your response and hope that Vectron himself will smile upon your day.

  • @Luckman42 By Vectron's raspy voice, I thank you!

  • lol , it like foundation by issac asimov

  • @cykoaudio777, and then there's those annoying wastes of humanity who can't pull the stick out of their ass long enough to laugh at a simple joke (especially when they complain about their inferences rather than the actual joke). Oh, and a side note: old =/= good

  • @cykoaudio777 ...and religion has been around a LOT longer than science. It's how ignorant people explained the scary natural phenomena around them and consoled themselves about upsetting things such as death. But just because something is ancient and kind of interesting doesn't mean it's true. It doesn't even mean it's good, as anyone can see from all the suffering and death *caused* by religion.

But you're right about the sketch being cute, by Vectron's shiny elbows!!!

  • Religion in a nutshell

  • 5 people were present three weeks ago on thursday.

  • 4 people believe in vectron.

  • I love this, I think its the way they drop into using each other 1st names.

  • the comments on this video have gone off topic, it is supposed to be about the video and Vectron. i liked the video and thought it was as good joke in film as it was on the radio. i am the only one since lickmylovepump12 to mention the joke or Vectron. Stop your boring, pointless arguing before Vectron smites you with his mighty fist.

  • @toddy47b Vectron's mighty fist is no match for the mighty power of dickishness!

Side note: I love that salute. I'm not quite sure how that sprang up (as is, indeed, the joke) but it's lovely.

  • @hereturns100 he is i have a sixth sense for worming them out.

  • @johnpetermalcolm

*Rolls eyes as yet another simple disagreement on the internet transforms into a ridiculous flame war over grammar and fought with personal remarks and bizzare generalisations*

Your definition is wrong. Deal with it.

hereturns100, you should be ashamed of yourself for encouraging him.

    Hilarious video by the way!

  • @JerryBeansMan128

What have you offered other than your own opinion?

  • @hereturns100

You do seem to have a problem with the English language, don't you?

To "Lack" something, is to not have it. That sort of sums you up as a person.

Anyway, unlike you I have proved my point, as all who read these comments will see.

I can only suggest that you now reappear like the Phoenix from the ashes of defeat, as "hereturns101"

  • @johnpetermalcolm Yeah that was sarcasm, not irony, just saying, and you are coming off as a bit dickish to hereturns100. I'm not sure he is a lecturer of English Literature but if is he isn't that doesn't change the fact taht he's right and you're wrong.

  • @MrCliffybiro

    Opinions are like arseholes.

    Everbody has got one.

  • @MrCliffybiro

    Opinions are like arseholes.

    Everbody has got one.

  • @johnpetermalcolm

So good, I said it twice :)

  • @hereturns100

So, what have we got here?

You insist that I am wrong in my observation, and that you have "FACTS" to prove it. So prove it, as I did to you.

You say that you are a Lecturer in English Literature; but looking at the written structure of your comments, I find that very hard to believe.

You state your home country as being the UK. However; wwith your total lack of English humour, and your insistance in using words such as "dude", and "dick", places you thousands of miles from here.

  • @hereturns100

Please research within the "Encyclopaedia Brittanica" - Dramatic Irony (literature).

I do not wish to have an argument.

I do not wish to insult anyone.

I do not wish to be insulted.

It is impossible to have a debate when "FACTS" are assumed, and not researched.

  • @hereturns100

I thank you for your well explained retort.

I shall waste no time what so ever in researching your opinion.

  • A glorious analogy of faith from 33BC to Present, done only the way the British can, in less than 5 minutes... Praise Vectron and all it's nonsesical bollocks...

  • Steve? His name is Steve?

  • 3 People havnt got their hands on the Sacred Scrolls of Vectron !

  • For Vectron!

  • Am I the only one who doesn't get it? Because it looks like almost everybody gets this, except me.

  • @jamezbond45 What parts don't you get ? I'm not asking that to make fun of you, or slag you off. I'm just curious. It's a brilliant piece of comedy, one of Mitchell & Webb's best. but it would actually take a while to explain 'why' it's funny, insofar as there are a great number of elements that contribute to it's brilliance.

  • @millionetc There's not much to get, it's hilarious and awesome. It's just that it felt like a joke, maybe a popular joke in Britain that most of the other people were like, 'Hey, it's that Vectron joke!' But I see now that it is just these guys, and all of the commenters are just playing along. I think it's hilarious, but it at the time felt like an inside joke of sorts. I thought it was funny from the beginning, and I still do, but sometimes it came off as a British joke, due to the comments.

  • "Dear Vectron, Who invented you?"

  • I am sure this is how all religions start.

  • See, this is what happens if you don't do your research: all-encompassing, fanatically-charged theocratic empires in space!

  • @TheOtogi in three weeks

  • By the cavernous bowels of Vectron that heretic should have been vapourized questioning the existance Vectron!

  • Like if you got linked here from some thread involving Dungeons: The Dragoning

  • @Soliasildo Not linked, but I googled it, and I have absolutely no idea what's going on.

  • @jamezbond45

Do pay attention Bond. (or should that be Bourne?)

This is a good example of humour, that uses irony in such a way that it amuses us Brits.

    .

    I'll give you an example:

If it was pouring down with rain, a Brit might say "Lovely weather for ducks".

What we are doing here is using irony; we are making a joke, without being obvious about it.

I must go now, because I have to explain "colours" to a chap who was born blind.

  • @johnpetermalcolm No, it's just that it seems like a reference to something, that most everybody else got, but I didn't. I understand now that this is just amazing silliness, with no reference behind it. But thanks for the duck joke, that made me laugh.

  • You can't prove Vectron doesn't exist!

Now, who does that remind you of?

  • FOR VECTRON!

  • what series was this from?

  • This is how everyone talks in the 41st Millenium

  • I was expecting them to play out a scene with all the praising of Vectron so viewers would think they are weirdos, then switch to an identical scene but in a church with brown robes and saying the same script with "God" instead of "Vectron"

  • By Vectron's radiant nostrils, this is brilliant!

  • If Vectron didn't exist, Vectron would invent Vectron.

  • This is my favourite skit from the show. I could watch it a million times.

  • Praise Vectron for this video.

  • Mitchell and Webb are the Shit. <3

  • Music is from Space: Above and Beyond

  • Thumbs up, FOR VECTRON!

  • By Vectrons holy claw!

  • There are many great M&W sketches, Homeopathic hospital, WW2 pilots, brain surgeon at party, corner shop alcoholic, the list is endless but this Vectron sketch is probably the best.

  • @pattayalob

WW2 pilots is Armstrong and Miller, but Mitchell and Webb appeared in one for Red Nose Day 2009

  • why am I high ?

  • Great sketch. Has anyone seen my dog?

  • @Atriax64 I've seen it. Man, t

  • By Vectron's ball-hammer that was eye-wateringly funny.

    More M+W brilliance.

  • "Hey, has anyone seen my dog?"

"What's that? I can't hear you? Have I found God?"

    and thus religion began.

  • @FaytHarkwindVids Yeah, I'm pretty sure the first people to believe in God were speaking English.

  • @10INTM Plenty of people are. You think they never mishear people speaking Hebrew or Aramaic?

  • @Hugh7777 Uhhh...I'm just pointing out that "God" and "dog" only rhyme in the English language, and not even that well.

  • There are so many names that you can replace "Vectron" with...but i'd be killed for suggesting any. Or at the very least, flamed by a couple hundred religious people.

  • Vectron has eyes, golden wings, a beard, a kindly claw, and knees!

  • @50033836 Obviously Vectoron is a giant golden bearded bee.

  • Comment removed

  • @Alwynne100 the idea of god comes from ancient man being at lest smart enough to observe that the world had to have come from some where combined with our natural human inclination to attributer consciousness and thought to events and objects

  • Comment removed

  • "By Vectron's knees, let's crack open the chablis!"

  • Anyone else notice there was a "translate" button next to the title of this on YouTube? As if the British speak a different language?

  • @Krylov223 the British do speak a different language!

  • @Krylov223 No, it's only Americans who speak another language :p

  • By Vectron's Golden wings!!!

  • This needs to be a Meme like now!

  • @fredb3 FOR VECTRON!!! WE WILL ... well ... you choose

  • yay, the saab theme.

  • I thank you, by Vectron's kindly claw!

  • @MaxPlanck011 How is he a retard for spelling sketch wrong? It's a very easy mistake to make, by Vectron.

  • my favourite ever mitchell and webb sketch ever! X-D

  • This sounds like the theme tune to space above and beyond!

  • @DarkKnightBob1o1

    it is. i would agree.

  • 3 people dislike Vectron! they must be punished by Vectron!

  • @MaxPlanck011 By vectron, your corrections are welcome but your hostility is not.

  • May the blessed grace of Vectron give you all plectrums for life!

  • By Vectron, I don't remember this scetch!

  • Vectron dammit, this is good.

  • yeah, thats probably exactly what would happen at 3:13 if christians gave up on the idea of god, just a long gap of silence and boredom

  • by vectron this is funny

  • by Vectron's kindly claw...lmao!

  • Oi They stool our claw, dam them to hell. he he he

  • favourite scetch by dave and rob :D

  • FOR VECTRON!

  • By Vectron's kindly claw this is cracking stuff!

  • This is an anti-theist joke. Vectron is supposed to be Yahweh or something.

  • What in the name of Vectron's Holy Man-boobs is this?!!

  • Lmao, they're tallking utter bollocks! xD

  • Praise Vectron! In Vectron we Trust!

  • This is sooooo how Christianity started....

  • Hehe, Imperial Chancellor Steve and Vice-Sky Marshal Tim sound jolly nice. It reminds me of the Armstrong and Miller sketch with the very normal sounding space opera names.

  • By vecrons bouncing boobs, this is hilarious!!!

  • Nothing like attacking someone on the internet for their opinion.

  • @ StR0cco u obviously have no sense of humour

  • Well your really just a stupid ignorant American, the same people who doesnt like anything unless they have policemen in it.

  • Yep. Clearly you have sorted out any mystery at all of our country. We should appoint you Minister of the Internet, since you can tell absolutely everything about a person from stupid Youtube comments. Your highly intelligent ways are confusing to us poor, stupid, savage, ignorant Americans.

  • lol at ur sentence structure, point proven?

  • @shmunk I was typing like that to get across a flat, monotonous tone. See, when you want to convey an emotion through writing, you can't use your tone of voice. Instead, you have to use wording and phrasing, as well as appropriate punctuation, to help get your point across. Otherwise everything would "sound" the same, and since we don't want a world populated by grammar freaks who insist on complete conformity of the English language, might I add "NYEAAHHH".

  • @AutumnDevi so in other words your completely mental ?

  • @skullthief2008 No, I just hate it when people assume that everything must be written in the exact same way. Grammar rules are there to help you make sense of what you're writing/reading, but beyond that there is such a thing as stylistic choice. True, I made a mistake in assuming someone would pick up on that on a youtube comment thread, but if you never had to read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and have this very discussion at some point in school, why the hell are you correcting me?

  • @AutumnDevi Heh, I like you. But seriously, don't debase yourself by arguing with people on YouTube. It just ain't worth it.

  • just like religion, where people cling to it long after it's lost all meaning.

  • By Vectons beard this is great comedy

  • By Vectrons Nipples that's Funny.

  • Praise Vectron!

  • By vectrons mighty balls!

  • FOR VECTRON

  • Ha such a good piss take of religion

  • I thank you, by vectron's kindly claw

  • Do you think that's how they came up with the concept of God?

  • Sounds very likely

  • @ArchhereticK sure why not

  • @ArchhereticK no that was when a man with dyslexia wrote a not to his DOG.

  • @ArchhereticK You mean that last time when I went for the market for a fresh gourd?

  • @ArchhereticK Definitely.

  • @ArchhereticK Yeah.. someone said, i lost my Ipod :p

  • @ArchhereticK i think thats exactly how it happened

  • @AvatarKyosho You're clearly an idiot

  • @AvatarKyosho Someone clearly doesn't understand the concept of fairly basic humour...

  • @ArchhereticK Nope. It was a slightly more complicated process, and rather than space-age, well-educated people, they were people that had no knowledge besides what it took to survive day to day.

"The rain sometimes comes, and sometimes doesn't, and it scares me, by Bast's whiskers!"

  • @ArchhereticK I think it was more like some elder in some village got sick and tired of being asked questions, so he said, "Whenever something happens that you can't explain, the gods did it, now leave me alone I need to mastur... I mean commune with the deities."

  • Indeed, by Vecna... erm Vectron's Eyes!

  • The next meme?

  • By Vectron's eyes I'm glad to hear it.

Easily overlooked (or is that heard?) but that's a great one.

  • by Vectron's beard, this is awesome!!!!!!!

  • For Vectron, by the Lords of Kobol!

  • Classic M&W by vectron!

I still think the bawdy 1970's hospital sketch is funnier.

  • By Vectron, that was good!

  • I agree by Vectron's flaming eyes!

  • By Vectron word i must also agree

  • for vectron

  • one of the greatest, by vectron's kindly claw

  • ROFL!

A most triumphal comedic endeavour, by Vectron's golden wings!!

  • Thought I'd never hear the "Space: Above and Beyond" theme on TV again!

  • your name is becoming...classic tune

  • 5/5 by Vectrons kindly rating!

    ...for Vectron!

  • best M+W sketch EVER!
