@multimichaeljackson9 VisionLab has been replaced by HitFilm. Check out the HitFilm dot com website for full information! If you already own VisionLab you can still download it from FXhome by logging into your account.
@TheDuttyBerryShow The Lab products aren't designed for sound playback or sound editing, that is correct. All sound work should be done in your main editing software.
@ilovethesimpsons8 Not all of it, but quite a bit. The main lightning effect is only in VisionLab Studio. The glowing wand tip you can do in EffectsLab, though.
I have just purchased this software, and when I preview my video it is all jumpy, I click the PREVIEW RENDER TIMELINE SELECTION button, and the grey squares disappear, this makes it not jump- but takes forever! Is there a quick and easy way to solve this problem? Thanks!! And the video is great and helps a lot, too!!
@MrPoodoo777 The time need for rendering frames will vary depending on several factors, including: a) the speed of your computer b) the complexity of your layers c) the number of layers involved d) the canvas display quality.
Reducing the canvas display quality while working in the software can help to speed up the workflow.
@2GummyBearBlues Sounds like you need to change your selected timeline tool from select to crop. It's the second tool along in the group of tools at the top left of the timeline.
Why is it that, after I drag the Optics onto the timeline and choose Circle Gradient, nothing shows up? I was doing exactly what you did in the video and it doesn't work.
can you please explain a little bit how to dynamically move wand light with the wand movement, coz tried many time but failed, it only working when i change movement of wand light on every frame, can you plzzzzz specify a little bit more...
@angarayaikchingari We did. :) Check out the Wizard Combat topic in the tutorials forum over at the FXhome website, you'll find some samples you can try out.
@felix2542 The type of camera won't make any particular difference to these kind of effects. So, really, just go for the best camera you can get your hands on. :)
The techniques here can be applied to all kinds of effects and films, of course - the wand glow could work equally well for the engine exhaust of a spaceship, or a laser beam of some sort, for example.
thehitch is right in that AE has more features than EffectsLab.
But that's why we sell EffectsLab for $149 and AE starts at $999 (before you get into extra plugins). If AE didn't have more stuff then there'd be something very strange going on. :)
So it depends on your budget and your needs. Try the demos, think about what you need, check your wallet and go from there.
Yeah, the thing is that I have AE already, but the effects i make there seems so low budget compared to the ones I see in EffectsLab pro.. Like muzzle flashes.... They look totally real in EffectsLab pro, but I can't get make a good one in AE....
OMG at 2:09 it sounds like my old maths teacher :L

coool on pt2 dont forget to tell us how you make the thunder light ok
LINK5 2 years ago
I don't cover that in the video tutorials, sorry! Here's how I did it:
1. Place a grade object over the area where you want the lightning flash to happen.
2. On the first frame of the grade object, add a brightness filter and boost it right up.
3. Also add a Contrast:Pro filter and move the black point to about 170. This stops it looking too washed out.
4. Move forward about 3 frames, then drop the brightness back down to 0 and the black point back to 0.
That's all there is to it! :)

Im so glad you finally went over how to make presets. This was so hard to figure out when I first started using fxhome products.
By far the best tutorial.

Very cool Fxhome! If only the lightning engine was in Effectslab Pro. *Sigh*Never the less good use of the gleam filter.

@ibanezgr yes in fact after effects is much better in some respects,it has more effects so anything you see here is possible and more!
