  • really great

  • I was 8 and I remember watching this.....I loved this show!

  • you can get this on DVD on Amazon.com Region 1 only

  • lol @ '(Visit The Maxx site at mtv.com ON THE INTERNET)'

  • got the torrent with every episode. life is good

  • I am desperate here, does anyone know where I can find a soundtrack of this series? I fucking loved it, so beautiful

  • "From the lead animator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic..."

  • Nine Inch Nails - Closer in the background at 0:50

  • @Bluehawk2008

    thank you so much :D

  • love

  • I agree with WastedPo.

I like the advancements in technology today, but when it comes to good T.V., I miss the old days. I've commented on many videos that these days it s like their not even trying anymore. I can name only a few good shows on too few channels I enjoy and I feel can be memorable but I know it could be better.

Animated shows today are fluid and intense, but I also enjoy the content of activity and story that makes 50% of the series too. Like the Maxx.

    Others cut corners. :(

  • This is what I grew up on at the age of 7.

I also love the NIN music in the end.

  • I MISS THE 90'S NOT ONLY FOR NOSTALGIC REASONS,....but the quality of entertainment

  • Pretty sure the same animators did spawn

  • @daspoooop lol don't worry, I don't mind about spoilers. And I just found out a couple days ago about the comic. Very interesting.

  • I remember watching this back then. IMO I think this was better than the weird anorexic Aeon Flux show. Even if The Maxx made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I really wish they'd make an actual ending to the show. In a way this show reminds me of Boogiepop Phantom.

  • @Kuroneko388 he went back to living normally in his shed? the end.. WHOOPS SPOILER ALERT

  • this is good as spawn I didt grow up on mtv in the 90's just nick

  • It's kinda sad that the closest thing we have to MTV Oddities right now is Adult Swim...

  • This and AEon Flux...The Perfect Couple.

  • @Spaztic7778 MTV GET OFF THE AIR!

  • @ibanezzer81 Yes, it is. And at around :50 'Closer' is on there too :)

  • he lives in a BAWKS.

  • Damn I want to watch this now, it looks very interesting. I was like 9 years old when it came out so I don't remember much of it if I watched it.

  • at around :38.....is that A Warm Place by NIN?

  • 5 people don't know what good comic art is.

  • It's on dvd now, guys.

  • I'm proud to say I own the VHS of this and, as stated by honeykisses1987, I'm NOT letting go of my copy either!! RIP MTV of old!

  • i miss this show!!!!

  • The MAXX Looks Cool As Fuck

  • I STILL have this on VHS. I'm not letting it go.

  • /fry_bender07# on justin.tv will be playing this tonight at 9pm eastern.

  • They should make a movie........ I wonder who'd be best to direct it?

  • This needs to come out on DVD. One of the best imaginative things MTV ever did. Now it's Jersey fricken Shore. Don't know if that says more about us or MTV.

  • @jsimon it's available through amazon.com on dvd

  • so It's best not to think about It HAHs ;) It' not very big lols oh well.

  • (visit The Maxx site at mtv.com on the internet)

Thank god they clarified that for me!

  • this was tight as hell

  • A lot of NIN music in that promo. I like!!

  • olol,"never seen a hero with feet this big"? sorry, but I think megaman begs to differ :P

  • maan the good ol days siigh :(

  • it's been said but bears repeating: mtv was so much better back then.

  • I would do ANYTHING for getting the soundtrack for this series =( it's like the most amazing Jazz Noir/Urban music in history

  • I miss The MAXX...... <3

  • Sometimes, it's luck that saves them. Sometimes it's fate.

    But sometimes... IT'S ME!!!

  • classic pure 1995 right there

  • Comment removed

  • @undertow1985 I wish I could watch it on the site, but I can't because i'm from the different country and copyright, it's just unfair

  • @DarkQueen1995

    Torrents is ur friend

  • I somewhat remember this show. I was really young though. About 6 or 7.

  • LIKE

  • Kerrigan reporting.

  • such an amazing show...

  • Why can't they make real shows like this anymore, they make mindless brainwash for kids and make the whole world about fake thugs in the gutter liein to everyone how it really is and with the get rich or die tryin atituide were they would step over their own mothers for it(that's not the real atituide of the hood) shows like this showed how those places really are, instead of boxin us in against our will and showin us things the way they want us to see it instead of the way things really are

  • Julie isn't blonde, she just tints her hair blonde

  • My favorite "dramatic" cartoon of the 90s aside from Batman TAS. Such a cool show. Hard to believe now that MTV actually showed quality programming like this. Pretty much all their animated shows rocked fifteen years ago.

  • This show was so damn cool. How come they don't they don't bring those shows back with new ideas thrown in? Man that would be soooooooo awesome.....

  • @my5guysgirl I don't know about new ideas, I know Sam Kieth wrote more issues well after the end of the tv series, but the later comics have very little to do with Maxx or Julie, take place a decade after all the stuff in the tv show and deal almost entirely with Mr. Gone and Sarah, Sarahs outback and spirit animal play a big role. I wish the show had a second season to cover that...

  • Comment removed

  • The greatest Anti-hero of all time......damn that show said soooo much about life.....the Outback is where i like to recharge my headspace

  • @MrMctwisted

    Amen to you!!!

  • this show was so awesome. the art is so good.they have too put this back on tv some day.

  • i miss the 90's as well. i was also thirteen when the maxx came to mtv's oddities....is it me or was rock music better back then too? miss the days when mtv was for hardcore music lovers!

  • oh i love youtube i knew i could count on you guys to have something on The Maxx I remember just watching one or two eps before they no longer showed it on Mtv and i missed it! cool!

  • those anyone have the soundtrack for this series? its some of the best Urban Jazz in the world :D

if anyone have it i would love to get it

  • @comeonanythingrandom I'm not sure if one exists, or at least, if one was released. it's a shame it's deep, different and just plane awesome. Sarah's theme has to be my favorite.

  • This was a weird comic book and an even weirder show.

  • Actually, it was 1995.

  • This song is soo cool, anyone knows where download or have the name of the music?

  • @CauE10CollectoR final music is from NIN - closer

  • Good old days of MTV. They need to cancel shows like: Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant, and all those crappy shows that raped MTV and turned it into a channel for preteen girls and their pretty boys too. Bring back shows like: Room Raiders, Dismissed, Daria, Beavis and Butthead, and The Maxx. Though Real World is still on, they need to bring back Road Rules. As for the Movie Awards, they need to choose better movies, it ain't fair that Twilight wins everything.

  • @TheNewEmphinix, It's odd that nowhere to by found in your extensive dream MTV lineup do you touch on the importance of, you know, music and music videos. You seem to wish that MTV would stop playing the inspid reality shows you don't like in favor of the insipid reality shows you do like.

  • @WastedPo I couldn't have said it better

  • I miss the days when one could turn on the TV and easily find something to nourish the soul; it wasn't that long ago, maybe 10 years, but it might as well have been an ice age ago for all it feels like now. Nowadays 99% of what's in the media is pure garbage. It doesn't matter what channel you watch; they're all the same now. And the people these days who shovel the current garbage into themselves with no apparent dignity or distinction resemble nothing of the humanity I grew up with.

  • @WastedPo AMEN.

  • @WastedPo fuck the tv

  • Thats the voice of Kerrigan from the original StarCraft, i dont think they casted her again for the sequel

  • @invaderzim196

You're right, Glynnis Talken wasn't cast in the new Starcraft series. They went with Tricia Helfer (#6 from Battlestar Galactica) instead. I think Talken was asked, but there was a dispute over money or marketing rights, something like that.

  • Dark, gritty, get's under your skin and makes you want to scrub and scrub and scrub with a razor blade... No, not really, but this is one depressingly friggen awesome series... I have it *wink* but I need to make a copy before my discs die. I have a feeling it will be next to impossible to get again.

  • American cartoons are crap now

  • The best part about this show is that the comics and animated series were very alike. Sam Keith was very strict on keeping the animated series and comics similar... it's a shame that there aren't many creators that will stick to their guns like that anymore.

  • @Neopreacher lol yeah i could only understand the volumes of the maxx when i was stoned,,.

  • the maxx is tits :)

  • I haeve faint memories of mtv back in 1999, before it started to turn into shit. I'm 15 now, and left with only shit channels. Though, it's great to be able to look at shows of the '90s, such as Aeon Flux, Daria, Mission Hill and so forth. Wish I grew up a decade earlier.

  • @bakbak5 It all went downhill with The Real World

  • what was that guy doing at 0:06?

  • @wargun1000 Taking his socks off. The woman is probably a prostitute :)

  • @wargun1000 jacking off

  • @PlowThrough8 i thought so

  • When I was four this was my favourite show on television... it still is :)

  • Good news if you didn't know guys! You can download the entire series off of xbox live!

  • Nostaaaaalllgia... :(

  • this show is so awesome i first saw it in 1999.i wish they would put it back on tv again.

  • if you look up any MTV show from the 90's you will find people talking about the same thing. Who really watches MTV nowadays and actually takes it seriously? I wonder if the teenagers of this decade will somehow stumble upon the stuff that MTV used to air in the 90's and be confused as to why the artistic and creative quality of things ten to fifteen years ago was more advanced than the stuff being produced and released today

  • I like how they had to specify *on the internet*.

  • To make a series this unique and surreal in a decade where almost all "superhero comics" were Liefeldian gunfests with no plot, took serious balls.

  • the complete series is on dvd on amazon

  • all the retards that put amv's of the show on youtube should be shot.

  • LOL I love Promos from back when you had to add the words "on the internet" so that people would know where websites were.

  • i take it back there is a dvd for like 20$ that just came out but it seems from what im reading is that the dvd quality is like one you buy at a store insted of one professionally pressed sucks for them better to get a dvd rw and do it yourself off the net save like 15 bucks but im glad one finally came out so they need to stop bitching.

  • there is a box set of aeon flux mtv put out that has all episodes.the movie had none of the sex and edgyness of the anime. The maxx to begin there was a vhs that came out but it only had 5 episodes i turned to youtube and behold someone had posted all the maxx vids assholes at you tube caught wind of it you can only find music amv's right before they pulled it i grabbed all episodes from here.lucky me mtv has not released the show in it's entirety on dvd and proablly never will?

  • The Maxx & Aeon Flux these shows were so great but so underrated. The makers of the movie seemed like they didn't know shit about the show.

  • I watched this when I was ten years old. I still remember how it messed me up. I regret nothing.

  • when i would watch this shit as a kid would TRIP me out. LoL.

  • THE MAXX & THE HEAD IS ON DVD

  • @TRKoneAD2

    what where?!?

  • woooooah this looks like some bad ass trippy shit that i shouldve heard about or seen years ago !!!!! wtf! i need the maxx!

  • magea

  • Best show MTV has ever put out. Hands down.

  • Good ol' days of mtv when they played the music, and had good shows like this. Now it's just garbage.

  • True, true. It's hilarious, but once MTV decided it wasn't going to play music anymore, they created M2. The created a whole new channel devoted to what they were supposed to be doing. Then... M2 STOPPED playing videos! LOL. Now they have Road Rules vs. Real World 104 Part II playing 24x7...

  • Well, music in general hasn't been good for a long time and now there are intellectual, thought-provoking shows like Jersey Shore.

  • @honeykisses1987 YOU KNOE THERE IS A MTV SOUTHAMERICA, A LATIN MTV, AND I GUESS ITS DA SAME PHENOMENUM :SUX!.BUT I TOHUGHT THAT ONLY HAPPENS IN S AMERICA

  • @honeykisses1987

Mtv has been garbage since the mid 90s when they introduce that reality show called road rules or some shit like that.

  • I woldn't call the comic's ending ridiculously awesome, I felt robbed.

  • WHAT-THE -HELLL?

  • maaaaaaaaan!!! i miss when mtv played shit like this and aeon flux! when they actually fucking played music, ugh, thats nostalgic

  • man english cartoons suck nowadays .____. they have no plot at all. I hope this ends up on dvd, it looks like something I would enjoy.

  • Just heard this is actually getting released on dvd!!!

  • seriously?! :0

  • Yep. You can look it up. Cant wait. There supposed to release The Head to I think.

  • The DVD's available on Amazon, folks. It's got interviews, commentary on every episode, and great video and audio quality.

  • I'm confused. Did they cancel The Maxx and so thats the way they wrapped it up on the last episode, or was it only meant to last that long and thats how it really ended? I never read the comic.

If they got the right people to do it, and i mean ONLY all the right people, I would like to see a live action movie. But if the art director and cinematographer sucked, it wouldn't be worth the money.

  • The comic went on for years afterward, with a time-skip, Mr. Gone's resurrection and complete redemption, and a plot involving the govt. wanting to control the Outback.

The ending scene was tacked on, but only because Sam Keith, the creator, was still years away from finishing the comic. If they wanted to adapt the whole comic, it probably would have run 40 episodes, and they would have needed to wait another two, three years for enough material to animate.

  • Why did this new age have to go so politically correct, rendering the good shows such as this from us, let alone countless others.

  • The Maxx, Spawn, WildCATS, Savage Dragon etc.

Image Comics based cartoons were awesome.

  • you can now watch every episode of this on mtv's website

  • it started as maxx on comic book later it was ported to animation on mtv. still have the comic some where....still an awesome show

  • Yeah, I still have a few issues of the comic myself. Wonder if they're worth anything?

  • Closer starts playing at 0:50

  • Yeah, preceded by "A Warm Place" off the same album.

  • i do 2, i do 2.

  • this is my fav and ya bring it back fuckin right hell ya

  • dam bring back the Maxx

  • dammit, i miss mtv's oddities! mtv is where animation goes to die!.

  • i remember when i was about 13 and they played mtv oddities on the cartoon network in Canada. I would stay up to watch it so nostalgic!!!!

  • Those were the good ol days :D

  • Those Teletoon recordings have been put into homebrew DVD files, I treasure them.

  • Ah memories. Back when half of MTV was actually worth watching.

  • That's right. MTV used to be the shit -- now it sucks.

  • So by your sentence you're saying it was crap, now its crap?

  • So by your sentence you're saying it was crap, now its crap?

  • No it just sucks.

  • True, sorry for the 2x post as youtube was messing up.

  • It happens.

  • I totally loved this show! And The Head too!

And it's even more kick-ass that this promo features some Nine Inch Nails as a soundtrack.

Ah, good old progressively edgy MTV, why hast thou forsaken us?

  • I've seen all of the episodes of the Maxx, and love it. (Own the comics too, Keith is amazing.) I only wish I'd been old enough when it was released to have enjoyed it back then, too.

  • I miss the good old MTV myself, when they played music and did shows like this. ANyone recall a video where pinball characters fought video game characters, if so please give me the info. It came out about '83 ish.

  • I wish Cartoon Network would put this on Adult Swim, It would be a breath of fresh air compared to all the crap it's running these days.

  • ive got all 13 episodes off vhs rip pretty good quality and it said the Director was -Yeol Jung Chang Eugene Salandramore im not sure if thats a full name or more than one person lol

  • this was when mtv was the shit wish they would bring mtv's oddities back

  • MTV used to be the shit, but now they're just pop commercial trash.

  • YES!!!!! MTV SUCKS NOW THE HILLS ...... man MTV was the shit AEON FLUX ..Beavis and Butt-head... AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO MISS THOSE DAYSSSSSSSSSSS AAAAAAGHHHHH lol ... jk

  • Do any of you know who were the animation company that produced the Maxx?

  • PLEASE, If you liked the show, read the comics. AMAZING!

  • mtv is lame, they never want to put any of these shows on dvd officially

  • i wish The Maxx was on dvd, along with The Head and brothers Grimm those old school mtv liquid television/oddities shows were great!

  • Amen brother.

  • I ordered what I thought was an official DVD off of Ebay, but it was just a homemade DVD that someone made, but it had all the episodes on it. They weren't very high quality, but it's an option.

  • I could have sworn that I've seen this show on DVD in a Hollywood video store somewhere, you sure it doesn't exist?

  • Not really. I searched for the dvd for a friend long and hard a few years back and found it on ebay for about $11. It wasn't an official dvd release from a manufacturer, but the quality was decent. It had all the episodes ever realeased. A pretty good deal. Other than that I haven't seen or heard of The Maxx on dvd. I wish it would be easier.

  • the last great animated series that has ever lived on television.

  • Wheres the MAXX movie?

  • There was a movie? Or are you implying there should be one?

  • There was talk a few years ago. I don't know if it was going to be live action or CGI or both.

  • I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  • it is. and it was. it originally came out when the show was on, as a vhs tape, but it didn't include a lot. it was very early in dvd invention.

and now, it's available, in bootleg, but the quality is not so good and it misses out on a lot of things originally in the show. :(

  • Ugh! The boot legs are TERRIBLE!
