  • what? salsa? sorry i wasnt listenning...

  • technically there is no centrifugal force but who cares.. que leccion estupenda!

  • Really really really..,,,,,fantastic!!!!!!

  • Good visual demonstrations... but WAY too much explaining. The explaining was drawn out and unclear. You should talk less and dance more :)

  • whats the name of the song at the begining of the video?

by the way love your videos

  • Julie is great except for the funny bendy postures. You're a tall sexy girl but just stand straight a bit - the knee bending, the curved in back & butts pointing way behind just create a funny posture when you're dancing or even just standing up still. In Yoga & Balerina, they teach people how to assume good basic standing postures to enhance your natural frame which most people don't know about & thats how you can tell a pro dancer from some-one just learning a few steps. No disrespect.

  • @Dragon34th u mean that she's standing wrong?women should not bend one knee and curve their back?i was actually thinking that it's a part of the Salsa posture!!

  • @Dragon34th What? No, I'm sorry. Yoga and Ballet? o.O We aren't ballet dancers. Julie's frame is upright, her shoulders are down, back and relaxed. Our knees, in salsa are always soft, it is part of proper training. Further it's clear that Julie is naturally very well shaped, and I for one enjoy when she exaggerates the pointing of her admirable behind in the 180. Otherwise her frame is totally fine.

Ballroom and Ballet postures are not appropriate to the dance.

  • Thanks a lot for the videos. I've already bought the iphone app but I could not find anything about 360 move. So, could you record a video teaching the 360 move.

  • @1MoSalsaholik Yee Ndd So What Have A Problem With It'!!;/

  • can u tell me the song that is used in this lesson...

  • Thanks for the explanation, this is the most difficult thing for me, I just can't get it!!

  • i feel like i'm watching a movie like dirty dancing great great great

  • Below every video you see haters with their racist and degrading remarks, they complain and complain and complain. About what?

    Criminals?

No,far from it. A man and a woman who tries to teach salsa the best they can!

  • @DEC2188Z You are full of it. I'm PR in USA and used to think the same (never said as dirty as you just said). They show me they have moves, and of course more class than most Latin hoews that go around insulting other races.

  • y quien dijo que los gringos bailan jajajajajajaja eso es para los latinos porDiosssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • As usual Antony shows one thing and then demonstrates it different. You gotta look at your own moves man!

  • alot of responses but nobody want to teach.... LOL... it's funny to me.... let us who is starting learn somthing.... if you feel it is wrong load up somthing

  • Flip flops n socks!!

  • @AleksandrasSsexy those are shoes with a black mark that goes over them... Gotta look a little closer and you'll see.

  • she has a nice ass

  • FYI: this is actually called a Cross Body 360. A normal cross body changes the line of dance by 180 degrees already. This move has you changing another 180 degrees, circling to the same position you were in, hence it being called a cross body 360.

  • @the6step : Um, no. This is a 180 because it changes your direction exactly the same way a normal cross-body lead does. You end up facing the OPPOSITE way you were originally facing. He does it twice in the intro. 1st he's facing left (0:14) (after he does a normal CBL) and when he finishes the move at 0:19 he's facing right (180 deg). Then he does another starting from there facing right. They fade out before the end of the second one, but you can clearly see he'll be facing left at the end.

  • I HATE L.A.

  • I've seen your videos and with all respect your salsa skills are not that good ... I've been a salsero for over 20 years and modern salsa dancer have destroyed traditional salsa dancing ... now you make it look like gymnastics ... lol but you tried ... and thats what counts ...

  • @chaka1979 This sort of absolute nonsense generally comes from people who are clueless about the dance they are involved in. FYI people were doing 'gymnastics' on the Mambo floor before you were out of diapers. There are grainy black and white videos surviving to this day of Cuban Son and NY Mambo that would challenge the top dancers of today.

So get clued up before you start spouting this crap. This goes for the clueless latins as well. Fortunate the latinos I know are far more knowledgeable.

  • verey gooooooooooooooooooooood nais boy

  • maybe worth pointing out that the girl pushing her left hand up on 1 (in the middle of this turn) isn't just optional styling.

Many of the followers I know aren't used to putting their LH up at the end of a CBL inside turn - in which case this move won't work...

  • @tallpaulhutch75 : Yeah i agree. I've noticed that their hands stay down even when NOT executing the 180

  • @tallpaulhutch75 Sure it works, it doesn't work quite the same, but if the follower tucks right in and you get a firm connection with the shoulder blade (and you have a good frame) it'll work fine.

It's not that the follower must 'push her hand up' it's simply that when she feels the hand connect with the shoulder blade as she completes, one way or another it's optimal if she 'goes for the shoulder.'

There are different ways to style this/achieve it :)

  • @MrWildbill20056 - don't I know u from SalsaForums?! "There are different ways to style this/achieve it" - I totally agree mate. But where I'm from, 85% of the girls aren't aware of the need for "going for the shoulder", and will let you trap their arm by their side with this move over and over again, without realising that it would be better if they got it out of the way. That makes it v difficult to learn to lead this move, if the Fs haven't been taught how to follow it (1 way at least).

  • @tallpaulhutch75 Of course you do :P I loiter here also haha! Totally agree, there is a bit of a lack of 'go for the shoulder' taught as a rule. People coming from a Casino background usually get this drilled into them far better than the cross body crowd.

I agree, when a follower detects this happening and doesn't find that shoulder in good order, that's a mistake. This piece of styling, I agree is a good way to achieve it though!

  • the girl is something unbelievable... do you wanna be my dance mate? :-)

  • yo bailo mejor q ese gringo!

  • since when did salsa dancers wear flipflops. (especially w/ socks)

  • @Blauestieg911 jajaja theyre sneakers!

  • @Blauestieg911: if you are referring to Anthony's shoes, they look like that. I have a pair just like them. It does look like flip flops w/ socks but not. :)

  • @Blauestieg911 Those are Gabellini dance shoes if you look closer ;-)

  • halooooo

  • Is it me or the girls that do salsa got really smoking body! Hard to take eyes off this girl...:p

  • nice :)

  • I like the video very much. Good way to explain a difficult figure!

Hope to see more from you :-)

  • édes kis táncosnő

  • Suggestion -- you demonstrated this with her ending on both sides, and the time before your first explanation, you should have her finish it to the same side. It was not clear for the whole first instruction what part of the step you were explaining because it was opposite of the most recent demo.

  • HOLA JIJI

  • HOLA

  • great video and good teaching. keep it up. can you please show us the 360. i have been looking for that video

  • es un buen profesor

  • Very nice thanks

  • she has very nice shoes.....they'd look nicer on my shoulders!!!!!

  • falta saborrrrrr!!!!

  • @1977morenita

TEN ES CUENTA QUE ESTA ESPLICANDO

  • I want to thank you for your explanations, I got it!

  • Who cares about the dancing, dude, did you get in the girls pants? She has a great ass ;D

  • I'm sorry...but can anyone explain me the diff between on2 and on1 please?' I'm new at this salsa world...

    Btw...Anthony, you'r amazing!!!

  • anthony you are very cute and a great dancer you should be my dance partner..lol

  • My instructor tried to teach me this move and I had a very hard time getting it.......With your instructions, it has become a whole lot easier for me....thank you and please continue with your videos....

  • This is originally NY on2 move. But it is being transformed to dance on1. They did a good job of translating it. I always like on1 cross-body lead better. There are other mixture of things even on1. The cross-body lead is similar to Cuban style, but turning method is different from Cuban.

  • The girl is super hott

  • no escriba un libro

  • ..haha i dont pay attention to steps much...i was just taught to feel the beat and let myself be lead....

  • July sos divina...

  • Viva la salsa!!

  • bit . ly/jerku

  • WHIAT A HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS GIRL? SHE IS TOO DRAMATIC

  • "Not available OTC." Anthony, you're the man XD

  • where is melanie?

  • He looks like Lyoto Machida

  • please take your videos off youtube.. they are making no business with these videos up economy is a mess and this is against the law.

  • @FreestyleBoy2010

get out of here, you negative energy. Everybody else is happy with these videos, you are the only one bitching about it

  • Very clear. Great teaching.

  • esti prost

  • Are there any salsa dance studios in westchester where people can learn or practice dancing salsa? I would really like to know, this dancing is cool dude, almost like tap dancing.

  • I love your videos and the way you explain all the moves. I startd on 1 than on 2 which is the one I dance most of the time now but since I started teaching recently I realized that on 2 is much harder for beginners. So for that purpose I'll start teaching on 1 again. Your vidoes really help refresh my memory. Thank you Guys!

  • it seems like ur only talking to the guy!!!!!!!! girls need to learn too!! besides just where to put my arms

  • Great vid. Where did you buy your "Salsa" t-shirt from?

  • bailen mas pz

  • really good video, I just knew the normal cross body lead, this one is nice.

  • i have forgotten how to explain this step to my partner , nice you could explain it where she can see what actually happens when you feel the step with the music

  • Já vi muitos não latinos dançando muito bem! Isso é bobagem. Quem quer aprender algo de outra cultura pode conseguir e fazer muito bem.

  • Latinos learn this naturally dont they? Like speaking a mother tongue... I guess they dont need all these detailed instructions.

  • They don´t.

I know lots of latinos that can´t dance at all..

  • I agree with u. Some of them are like a joke on the dance floor.

  • you got my thumbs-up. I agree completely, .. But let's not forget only SOME are jokers...MOST dance better than the any gringo expert.

  • @tolkien11 Even though Latinos may learn this naturally (and that's very debatable), it doesn't follow that they learn or do it well. Think about it. We all learn to speak from listening to our parents, but we still have to spend YEARS formally learning how to write, speak and read in school. So why should dancing be different, especially if you never danced Salsa?

  • ma le calze con i sandali non si possono vedere;)

  • Thanks for putting this up! my salsa instructors say I'm too novice to learn it...you guys and I proved them wrong hahaha =]

  • you know dude.. you are bad ass. Thank you for these videos!

  • wow really nice explained makes it easy for me to remember for when i got out dancing i can try i on the girl.

  • to dance salsa u need to feel the music feel the bass feel the rhytm feel and this will help u alot!

  • hey dude, i cant dance with the music at all. i lose count as i count mentally, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8... should i dance with the music by counting ? how to know when 1 starts in music?

  • -

    Good..Lessons on "YouTube"....Thanks ..Dude

    _

    But

    -

...'Either kick your hip out. I mean... '

    ---that was cool.

    '

I can hear that the camera mans laugh at that moment

  • Thank you for the videos I have learn alot in a short period of time. You guys are great. Thanks again. for showing us how to dance. Have Fun................

  • you talk too much!!!!

anyway i learned something about u!!!

    nice!!!

    thanx!!!

  • Anthony, love everything you've done on you tube, you guys rock..............from FL.......

  • What's the song name please. I love it!

  • I feel like I get the footwork, but i can't lead it for crap. I seem to lose the lead unless I fully detail what the follow has to do beforehand, and even then, it doesn't feel as fluid as you guys look.

  • the women does beautiful moves with her hands

    awesome!:)

  • @starglances its called styling

  • Great Job, is really useful and not too complicated.

I've been watchin' your videos 4 a while.

  • Great lesson, finally a good tutorial on the c.b.l. with 180 turn. One recommendation though- please give a little more detail on the follow's part. She does not go back on 1 like normal, but instead rotates 180. There's something new there for the follow that could do with some more explanation. I was trying to teach my wife and could use some more help there. Otherwise, great job!

  • I Love The Way you Explain! I woul luv to Dance profetional Salsa....

  • would you call it a cross body lead plus 360? I felt like I have learned this whole thing in two parts, the first one was the simple cross body lead followed by a 360 degrees with a leg hook.

  • why do ppl comment negative crap, this stuff is GREAT!!!! keep it coming

  • Yo no entiendo como un idiota como ese gordito pueda saber algo de salsa ......es una verdadera tortura verlo bailar.....se ve asqueroso....

  • Anthony, Started following your video recently and surprised that i missed them so long. They are cool patterns. Its a very good style of teaching, where you dance the pattern first ad then break them in small bits!

  • Hey Anthony!

Hi, first time commenting to your videos, no doubt you are a great mentor and deliver very useful info and tips...

Now comming to my point! Did you just say BEFORE SHE IS LAUNCHED OUT! Do you think she is a rocket? ;)

  • girl, what's with the exaggerated arm movement?

  • We exaggerate the moves so they are clearer for people watching the videos on what we are doing (bigger steps, slower movements, highly extended arms). For more information on how the supplemental video instruction differs from proper social dancing - visit our website. Thanks! :-)

  • @Ezechielpi dummy...this is l.a. style

  • @nickyjam770 We do the same move NY Style On2 at the very end of the video.

  • hahaha, what's with the comments? man, these guys are awesome

  • @jayroo10

what you mean is on2 "palladium style" also known as "power on 2". Anthony and Julie are dancing to the on2 "mambo-tipico". Both are breaking on2. Breaking means the direction changes. The main difference is the "pause". "Power on2" starts with left foot forward. The counts are breaking on2,3,4,pause,breaking on 6,7,8,pause. Nice to dance because you can feel the conga ("bum bum") better. This on2 starts with left foot backward on1,breaking on2,3,pause,5,breaking on 6,7,pause. cheers

  • Hi Anthony. Thanks again for a great move. Just one pointer: it would be useful if you explained the guy's lead a bit more, in particular the left arm's involvment in initiating the lady's turn.

  • oh you make me jealous, you are both so great.. i'll keep on tyring I so want this!

  • You teacher look like a architect, one who designs buildings and other structures saying Up the circle, 180 ° or 360° counting .. ;-) and How about the music ? so this style has probably their on salsa music! because with cuban music you can't do all those kind of moves !

  • I'm not sure why my comments aren't working...

  • I don't get what u mean by on2, I thought on2 was just the timing the dancer wishes to start with his left foot? meaning he just steps forward on2??? where as on your on2 version, you're still stepping with ur left foot on1, now I'm confused!!!! please explain ur version

  • On2 has a different step pattern than On1.

Here's how it goes. You still start moving your feet "On the 1 beat,", but your left foot goes back on one. This is hard to write, but I'll try my best.

on 1 count, your left foot goes back, on the 2 count, your right foot goes back, then on the 3 beat, ur left foot stays steps in place, (break on 4) on the 5 beat ur right foot goes forward past ur left foot, on 6 ur left foot steps forward past your right foot, then on 7 your right foot steps in place

  • so this is the correct way to dance on2? I see many people that dance on2 stepping forward with their left foot on2 beat, and on3 step on the spot, and bring the left foot back on4, then pause on 5, and step back with the right on6, so this is the incorrect way to dance on2??? hey when u say break on 4, do u mean pause on 4 without stepping correct?? thanks for this

  • no their dancing on 1 dont listen to al of these retards commenting saying its on2 i dance on2 and i know on2 when i see it and this is notu wanna see real on2? check out eddie torres' workshops

  • We dance the introduction of the video in On2 timing (Eddie Torres / NY Style), we explain the move in On1 timing and do it at the very end again for the On2 counts.

Please note that the cross-body leads are happening on count 2, which is a clear indication we are dancing On2 (clave). When dancing On1, the cross-body lead happens on count 5.

  • Stepping forward with your left foot on2 is Puerto Rican style - which it called 'Dancing on Men's Timing'. In NY style, (as politeness to our ladies), men start back with the right on count 2 (called "Ladie's Timing"). Note that the steps are exactly the same - it is just a matter on how you start. Either timing is interchangeable.

  • starting fwd on 2 for the man is the proper way. its done in salsa along with mambo in the professional ballroom circuit

  • I sort of like to know the name of every maneuver for easier reference and memory retention. I sort of notice there are three maneuvers here . The 180 and Turning Cross Body Lead , The Spring Action and Cross Body Lead again, no turn. I see three movements or maneuvers here. Hope I'm right, or did I crash? Just did it, dividing the maneuvers. Thanks....

  • I like your style, and I also think your explanation is among the best, because it explains both the overall idea of the move, provides you with a way to remember its name and distinguish it from other similar moves, and covers many details such as the arm positions/grip, steps, timing, the works. I would like just a little more time devoted to the on-2 timing (instead of just showing it once) - as it is, I can use it for reference, but it takes a lot of replays. All in all, really good work!

  • I like salsa and these guys show us a good taste of dancing

  • whats the name of the song in the beginning?

  • Chapeau! Very nice guys! Julie, i love youuuuu :-))

  • People should say that more often. Julie doesn't get enough good comments.

  • She'll make it very far, because she has got a lot of grace in her style and personality (also a cutie, hopefully she reads this) and i won't wonder if one day you guys open up a salsa school :)

  • awesome!

  • oe en español tbm pe!!! ... xD

  • Also, their is no ONE way to dance Salsa. It is a constantly evolving dance genre which those of us that love dancing will continue to carry on and move forward. Hey "darwin403", where are your videos???

  • The funniest part of ignorance is just that IGNORANCE. Salsa MUSIC in it's current form has only been around for about 15 years. The actual Salsa DANCE you see most people dancing in social settings today has been around for even less time than that. It was put together by a DIVERSE group of people and is not LIMITED to however YOUR "Suramerican" people. I'm not speaking about my South American people or ANY other hispanic groups because you DAMN sure don't represent me or ANY of them I suspect.

  • @alexsince1980 alex i agree with what u say about diverse group of people giving their influences. however as far as music goes, sure some dj;s play some of weaker sounding salsa made in last 15 years. go to a salsa congress alot of music played is the stuff made in late 60's through most of 70's. when disco became popular salsa dura went more to romantica sound. the mainstream salsa is weak sounding especially in horn sections. I would mention many artrists if had the space to type.

  • i love salsa lolzzzzz but idk notinq about it hahhahhahha n im latinq i supossed know to dance

  • Please stop telling such foolish things man. Salsa is a thing of the world, caribbean in its birth, spanish in the essence and really good dancers are from outside southamerica. Precisely there is where we can find more obscurity and envy. We hate fools as you. Go and dedicate to golf and let Salsa go on in peace and in different styles.

  • Very good videos! It is complicated, but praticing it would be easy! I love their style.

  • Very well explained! thanks for this

  • "this nice bump on her back" LOL

  • i love ur videos and ur style of dancing plz keep up so that i could learn some more styles

  • excellent instructor, I like alot the how you explaine.

  • thats some awesom moves, and you break it down so simple,,, i really need the name of this song, so please would someone help me and reply with the name of the song

  • Its called Mania by Tito Nieves.

  • Great video!!! You guys ,make it seem so easy...am learning salsa and tried it for the first time at a salsa party last weekend and lets just say I was ready to stop learning for a long time:(

  • Anthony, excelente trabajo!!... podrias decirme como se llama la salsa q usas al principio de este video?

  • 5:44 "hihihi"

  • You guys are the only instructors on YouTube I can actually learn from. A+++++ Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!

  • lol 1:36 the turning with special effects and everything!! lol lol I love your lessons, they are awesome and very eassy to learn! ^_^

  • very funny anthony :)

  • Anthony is a very intelligent guy, who knows how to incorporate the concepts of physics into salsa dancing. I actually have the cultural awareness and blood thing working for me in salsa, but I also have good physics knowledge and have to commend Anthony for his appropriate use of the concepts of physics.

  • what is the song???

  • Great move.Got it.

  • Thank you VERY MUCH for this detailed breakdown on this move. It's the first one I've found and I've been looking for a while! I really like your expanations of how to be a good/considerate lead. Thanks again, Anthony!

  • Awesome Lesson! Very Detailed!

  • Been following your videos long time now. Even have it subscribed here. Can you do a video with more detailed explanation of the two count. Like basic stuff on the 2 count.

  • Excellent teaching! I've found a good teaching of the 'feel' (body frame, space & tension feels) in combination with clear breakdown of feet, lead and styling movements to be the most effective. It's such a pleasure to see it being demonstrated here.

  • Finally, teachers that aren't only knowledgeable in the firgures, but also in body movement and the relationship between the man and the woman. Excellent!

  • hey anthony , i love your efforts when u explain the salsa

i have a suggestion , why don't you show us some dips and lifts in your videos

    thanks

  • We are planning to shoot this episode soon. Thanks! If you have any other suggestions, let us know at our website!
