  • It's hilarious. GW1 had no Raids, GW2 doesn't need Raids either.

WoW Nerds pls gtfo our Game!

  • @RaekiePlayz Yeah! And then make the company get less money! Pump out more items you can buy online rather than releasing it for free in game to keep up with the income! No. Guild wars wants more players. That is why there is other things to do rather than raids. So 'WoW nerds' will still come in to the game. Sorry :)

  • @ThePwnMobile The Company will get enough money. Guild Wars 1 had millions of people playing it and enough people want to buy the new one. Also Arena Net NEVER had to put Cash-Items into the Game. There only those costumes , they're bringing out on GW1 to get the needed Money for GW2

  • @RaekiePlayz Well, that is the point. What I was saying. They had to do that for Guild Wars 1 to get the 'needed money' for Guild wars 2. Who's to say that the same will not happen for Guild Wars 2 with a future expansion?

  • @ThePwnMobile I think it won't happen right after release, and I think it still won't happen in 1 year. I don't think that they'll rightoff start making GW3

  • @WoodenPotatoes I also think that without raids there will be less of a mad rush to hit the level cap and do end game content as no one will need a million of the BEST players to get through it all. This resulting in an overall greater enjoyment of the experience as a whole.

The mad rush to level cap seems to be a bit of a sickness in the genre these days, and I would blame that on fear of getting stuck with a bad guild that can't clear raid content.

  • I really hope we wont get pvp stuffed down our throats at end game, because theres nothing better to do

  • I realy dont think I could take another game that you have insance with 20+ people and you spend like 6 hours playing that boring retarded thing over and over and over again every fucking week... With my limited time to play between my job and a family i endorse this aproach that A-net is taking. So far this game seems like a perfect mix for both casual players and hard core ones. And to be completly honest I havent been excited about a single game since Morrowind back in the day... Go GW2! :D

  • Good video with well worded points that you are trying to make, the only downside I see is that your misinformation on the other games raid and roles situation devalues other well made points.

  • Yea, I was really excited to get this game. Until I saw this. Deal breaker.

  • when does this game come out?

  • @lichkingson When you come out of the closet.

  • this is awsome but they better make those dungeons fucking hard if they are easy its gonna be a big let down for me at least

  • Oh please, don't try to make up reasons to justify the lack of end-game raiding.

No 10 men raiding, no deal. Goodbye.

  • @chomag725 and you sir are the prime example the wow community became shit, ignorance. You dont even seem clever enough to take in these reasons. have fun with your "elite raiding"

  • @chomag725 Oh please, 10 man raiding was implemented in WoW strictly to satisfy casuals and baddies, and keep them playing.

No 25/40 man raiding, no deal. Bye.

I am so excited for GW2, I hope it won't be a fail like ToR.

  • thanks man, its not like i dont have an essay to get back to -.-

  • I'm done with all the bad players from wow I had to fill spots with anyway. This makes it to where I only need my friends who actually aren't stupid.

  • Arent the BIG DRAGONS like raids?!?

  • @Ex7a5y Why yes!

  • For all this talk about the way WoodenPotatoes speak (From one person really), I would just like to say that I didn't have a problem with anything about the videos & appreciate the effort he's gone to to make all of these videos.

The one thing that raids do, though, is build a guild community. If you're only in groups of 5 this is very difficult to do - especially if you are PvE focused.

I think the real reason for no raids is because without the "holy trinity" it just would not work.

  • @MaccGaz There are other ways to build community however, thats where Anets design shines. Having the incentive to help people thanks to dynamic events, mobs not being individually tagged and everyone getting loot, WvWvW etc.

  • if anyone here has played Skyrim GW2 will be much like it idk about the 5 person team thing but GW2 is a free world where exploring pays off there is map teleport but you most find the ports 1st i loved the story of GW1- EOTN and can't wait to fight some Dragons and Demons

  • No raiding? Wow, well, I WAS excited about this. I love raiding, guess this isn't the game for me.

  • And what did we learn from making this video? In Guildwars (1), do not go into Asia district in non-mission outposts.

  • Now I an not oblige to log on at a certain time to fill up raid slot because disappointing the others 24 is just horrible

  • Idc about my teamplay either, or dieing whatever, its about the fun :D

  • So... No 8but five people who the f*ck cares..l cmn -.- play runescape then.

  • much of your logic is flawed

  • OK today should be the day where BETA videos come out?

  • @brian9801 They should be out in a few hours. The NDA lifts in roughly 5 hours.

  • @rohaninabout Thank you

  • WOW 25 man raids everyone is very dependent on others when it comes to heroic raids... 1 person can ruin it for 24.

  • hundreds of people at one event.. you re dreaming. how many people got a grafic card which could support that. and will there be hundreds of players at one time? dont think so. maybe sometimes. dont overhype the game before you made months of experience of playing it. i m looking forward to gw2 too, just being realistic

  • @WoodenPotatoes I agree whole heartedly. People need to STOP COMPLAINING. If the dungeon and WvWvW pvp content does end up working as advertise it will be FAR superior to other MMO's large scale raid content. Either way, as Arena has said, you get exp, drops and other rewards in WvWvW pvp and there are hundreds of players... this is the same kind of contect as large scale raids. GW2 is gonna blow everything else away!

  • This happens for every game that comes out. There will always be people that complain about everything that is different. On the other token there will always be people that fanboi it up and will tell you why every feature is going to be good for the game. I dont really agree with either camp. I wish more people could find a happy medium.

  • @cocotiger77

    I don't owe you anything.

  • @WoodenPotatoes well said lol

  • @cocotiger77 I do agree that WoodenPotatoes could make his commentary sound a bit more natural, but you could be a tad less blunt. Also, "repitition" is not a word as far as I know. WoodenPotatoes, try doing your commentary as if you were talking to someone, look (or listen) at the way TotalHalibut/TotalBiscuit does it. It's a more relaxed approach that won't only sound better, but will probably be more fun for you and your viewership. Other than that, your stuff is pretty good.

  • @cocotiger77 I didn't find it repetitive at all. In fact, I had no idea what he meant by role dilution until the next line.

  • @cocotiger77

His wording is fine. Stop being a jerk.

  • thats a lie on 4:18, actually, the tanks have the easiest role... dps have to compete against each other, wich is hard because they are many, and to be the best of them is actually hard. The healers have the hardest job, besides competeing with eachother, they have to control their mana and keep themselves alive, wile a dps can go afk during a bossfight (and die) that will not end the raids chance to finish the boss, though if a healer does... its basically wipe..

  • What profession is the charr with the purple sword seen at 0:32 and 1:06?

  • @citronvand I think it is Sword/shield Guardian

  • @citronvand Yeah, citronvand is correct. The swingback on the sword gives it away.

  • IF you have never played Guild Wars 1 you noticed that yes there were no "RAIDS" but instead 12 man groups in EPIC levels. GW1 did not suffer from not having raids and neither will GW2. GW1 had so much content there was always something too do especially excellent PVP. SO before some of you guys go on saying that GW2 suffer from "NO raids" if you have not played GW1 you don't know what you are talking about...GW2 does not need huge raid parties to succeed

  • You know back before WOW traditional Raiding happened out in non instanced areas...Personally I see these large dynamic even bosses as technically a Raid...it requires dozens of people working together to defeat the boss...how is that not raiding??? Just because you arnt held up in a tiny little instance does not mean its not a raid...I prefer the old style of raiding...getting 30 or so people together to go kill a dragon and not be limited to 25 ppl.

  • @ckooken I think the best part of GW2's version of 'raiding' is that the boss will actually scale up or down in power (to a degree) so that it is as difficult with 10 as it is with 100 people. People are just way too stuck in the idea that scheduling their raids and planning their lives around raid nights is the way an mmo should be made. Thank you, ArenaNet, for challenging this.

  • Maybe it's because I'm old skool, but you're missing the point of a MMORPG it's meant to get a lot of people together to get stuff done end game. I won't go way back for everyone since most won't know what I'm talking about But lets go EQ2 and FFXI. most raid groups you have. 1 Tank 2 side tank 3 puller 4 CC 5 heals 6-9.10 DPS or 10 extra healer. There's more to it then that but basic. It took skills back then now a days MMO's are made for casual gamer's. It also took months before getting

  • @EZeast1 all of your end game gear. Now it's handed to you within a month or sooner depending on how much time you spend playing. There also wasn't a crap load of trolls people where a lot friendly back then. I even keep in touch with half of the people I played MMO's with back in the day.

  • @EZeast1 I agree with you...I played MMOS back before WOW as well and I prefered the old way of raiding...getting dozens of people together to go out and kill a difficult boss. It was nothing to complex and you didnt need to look up some stupid guide...I really dont care for being locked up in an instance, its not very immersive.

  • Really good video. Agree with most of the points you make they're very insightful. It's refreshing to find someone who is actually smart other than myself. (Just the truth not being big headed. I'm a realist.)

  • I LOVE having small teams. Never cared for raiding WoW. Really looking forward to GW2. :)

  • The fact is GW2 offers more end game than any other MMO to be out there because it has : 30+ different dungeon experiences, 3 types of different dynamic events, Competivite arenas, WvWvW, No obsolete lower level content, continent of Orr, plus achivements/crafting, acttivities (30) plus little things like newer gear. Also elder dragons will be added in future patches to add even more content only zhiatan can be encoutered at the intial release which will probaly include more dungeons for them.

  • Raids are for nubs

  • "face rolling the keyboard and get the same rewards" <-- that made me LOL xD

  • WTF No WoW?

  • for those of you whining about guild wars 2, please, learn the game structure and implementations before posting shit you have no clue about

  • Game that doesent feel like another job awesome:D!

  • Who else is nearly shaking with excitement as they go through videos of GW2 on youtube?!

  • @imParticle

Woke up in a hospital. Doctor was standing over me and asked: "What happened?"

Then it all came back to me. I was watching GW2 videos in youtube and entered in a vivid dream and passed out. Mother later said i had salivated all over my laptop. So yeah, shaking of excitement is one of the things i experience when watching videos about GW2.

    True story

  • Please stop making videos, you try point out these differences in GW2 and make them look like a bad thing. but this is the reason why we are looking forward to GW2. I want a game that focuses on WvWvW as an endgame and not PVE raids, i want this hgame because it has no healer class, i want this game because they simplified the abilitys and you dont have 100 and your bar looks like a cluster F---.. i dont want fights to come down to who has more potions!

  • @Jstudly771 I don't understand this comment of yours, why are you asking him to stop making videos? trying to make GW2 look bad?

    I´m so confused :/

GW2 is awesome, and that´s the point WoodenPotatoes is making :D

I think you might have gone on defensive attitude seeing the title (WTF No Raids)

and grossly misheard what he was talking about ;)

  • People wow end game is a freakin joke...

  • I'd rather play the most epic and difficult experience with 5 friends then playing with 25 people I don't know and having all those bullshits of raid.

  • I don't like it

  • I love this guy!! (in a gamer/bro way ;P)

  • another aspect which makes gw 2 look really bad.. =/ anyways, i ll give it a try

  • @wiefdiwbofdbw Increasing the value of every1 participating dungeons, making it challenging and rewarding to all, while offering fights FAR bigger than raids every could, informs of World PvP and Elite Dynamic Events (both having content scaling to insure you are challenged and not just standing there pressing 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3 etc.)

That is NOT making gw 2 look really bad, it makes it ÜBER AWESOME :D

  • @Zymynca i was thinking of the fact there will be no healers ( which i think is a shame) and the fact i just absoluty loved raiding with my guild. thinking at vanilla mc/bwl raids.. priceless

  • I could see exactly what I and everyone else did in Raids in WoW and FFXI perfectly.

That is what Recount was for... It was the nearly perfect add on.

It should have been in the UI to begin with.

IMHO it should be part of every god damn MMORPGs UI to weed out the fucking noobs and leeches that sit around doing next to nothing. This could be a problem in GW2 since you get equal share in everything if you do "Just enough" to register in the event. I could smack something 20 times and go AFK lol

  • Having a guild is less relavant if you have small dungeons instead of big raids, because when you do form static teams of 5 players you probably won't be playing with other players as much at all especially if there is any time locks on these higher level difficulty dungeons. Then players will stick with their core teams, effectively segregating them from their guilds in this content. I rather enjoyed doing large scale events in FFXI and WoW with 18+ people. Dynamic events might fill the void...

  • Please stop telling people there will not be raids. there will be dynamic events that require anywhere from 10 people - 100 people to complete.. I would call that a raid personally. Actually its more true to MMORPG raiding then anything people who play WoW think of as raiding... Honestly WoW raids are just Large dungeon crawls. A raid in RPG's and MMORPGs is a large group of people teaming up to take down an event. *IE Everquest dragons.

  • There should be 32 raids on this game?

  • Not sure why people would complain. If you are looking for a more traditional, raid based endgame, there are plenty of those out there already.

  • GOOD THING!

I'm annoyed by the people running around with highclass items without doing anything clever, just because they're in a raid. Some other people who do a perfekt job in 5-player-dungeons with skill and good teamplay can NEVER get those highclass items. Raid-players get better rewards without ANY legitimation.

  • Honestly, out of all the commentating videos or just GW2 videos in general, you really...i mean REALLY know how to place your words, you state what is exactly on my mind and lay it out flat and true, GW2 offers nothing more than a virtual world that is amazing in every aspect, and it might take a bit for fanboys to accept that but eventually i'll be mindfucking them on my thief in GW2 PvP ;)

  • Your whole argument is based on comparing 5 man grouping pve content to traditional 10+ raids in previous games. What you fail to realize is that other games offer 5 man pve grouping content as well. They are (traditionally) called dungeons. The difference here is that most all games offer both dungeons AND raids as pve content for players, so they have the option of doing one or the other, or both if they so choose. GUILD WARS 2 HAS NO RAIDS. What GW2 does have, is traditional pve dungeons.

  • @ImAwakeLoL True. Guild Wars 2 has no raids. That's the reason why I quit wow when I leveled up to 80. End game wasn't fun for me. Dungeons yes, raids no. MHO

  • @ImAwakeLoL Guild Wars 2 isn't supposed to be like other games. If you're going to cry that it has no raids then go back to WoW and stop complaining.

  • @ImAwakeLoL tuned to the difficulty of a traditional raid. thats the part you seem to be missing. also, the fact that both are not included in GW2 was specifically mentioned in the video. you did watch it right? are you REALLY awake?

  • @ImAwakeLoL Guild wars Has NO raids, BUT HAS DYNAMIC EVENTS, that can scale with hundreds of PLAYERS doing the same event, for example killing epic Bosses. GW2 dont offer the same like traditional MMO, why do you want another World of warcraft or a SWTOR?? I dont get it GW2 offers a good varitey of PVE: like Personal story, dynamic events, Dungeons with story and explorable mode.

Want raids???? then go playing fuckin wow..

  • @ImAwakeLoL And what you fail to realize in that games with both 5 and 10+ man content, the 5 man content gets neglected as the "raid" content progresses. Also, the MMOs you are referring to suffer greatly from the inherent difficulties in scaling-not only the difficulty differences between said 5 and 10+ man content, but also the difficulties players face when having to recruit MORE people every time they want to step up a notch. Frankly GW2 take is quite refreshing.

  • @ImAwakeLoL well, for that you can fight with 50 people in an event if you want

  • @ImAwakeLoL

Meaning they'll simply focus more ressources on making regular dungeons way more awesome than those "other" games that divide their devs between dungeons and raids.

In short, its going to be way more awesome than raids.

  • @ImAwakeLoL His argument is that other games just arbitrarily make the 5 man stuff easy and the 10/25 man stuff hard. Take WoW, no one in their right mind would say the heroic dungeons are the least bit fun, entertaining, or even worth doing once you do raids and outgear them; this is solely because Blizzard made a conscious design choice to make heroics the gear stepping stone in order to do raids. The dungeons in GW2 are not traditional by any means. (to be continued, word count... )

  • @ImAwakeLoL And what you fail to see is that GW2 scales every "dungeon" accordingly to whom ever is in the party. where in a traditional MMO you get to only do the end-game dungeons, in GW2 you can do any dungeon and it still feels a challenge. and on the contrary to what you say/think/what ever, while the traditional MMO offer's weekly basis of the same 10-man raids, GW2 offers events with over 100 players.

  • @ImAwakeLoL not to mention Dinamic events where you can get other players to do the same quest as you and still give an amount of "epicness" to the game. and rather than focusing on end game, GW2 focus on a whole. thank you for your time ;)

  • @ImAwakeLoL ArenaNet is challenging the idea of having heroics and raids by making story mode 5 mans (basically a story stepping stone) and explorable mode 5 man dungeons; the explorable dungeons will be just as challenging as any raid you've done in wow, but you only have to rely on 4 other people instead of 9/24/39. I fail to see how this is a bad idea as the hardest part of wow is having to rely on the attendance of 24 (plus the bench) other people to do anything remotely challenging.

  • @ImAwakeLoL Isn't the point that GW2 will have dungeons which are the same like raids? Because in other MMORPG's like WoW you simply have dungeons which gives you somewhat useless gear and is so incredibly easy you don't even need to focus at all. Meanwhile raids is the place where you actually get gear which you want, and the only PvE content which is hard. So yeah, your statement doesn't quite make sense.

  • 10 at most would of been best.

  • To be honest, I think this would probably be better, but I really do hope they don't make these 'raids' easy. Please make some REALLY challenging ones, so there is a difference between the good and the bad, nothing like WoW heroics or something like that.

  • @Liquidzer0

Shows how said u are then if you don't even like the game but spend ALL your time watching videos on the game just to say this game looks shit

  • Gw2/1 IMO has some of the most epic Armour and weapon designs. This games graphics will blow wow and swtor out o the water.

  • @Nexalon53 Guild wars 1 only had a couple armor designs per class though... hope they'll improve that in gw2

  • Look up Vindictus boss fight, trinity system is old as f and dumb anyway.

Great to see newer mmo stop using it.

  • Thank you for these video they are nice.

  • So many fags have pinned their hopes and dreams on this game, I'm going to laugh my ASS off when it sucks, lol. Look at that gay ass anime shit. Terrible, just terrible.

  • @Liquidzer0 "when it sucks" I can define your life in 2 words LOL, haters are going to hate, people are not even taking into consideration what your saying because you wouldn't know a good game if one came flying towards you and hit you in the face.

  • @Liquidzer0 what fucking anime shit wrong game asshole

  • Forgive my ignorance, Is the game footage from GW1 or GW2 ?

  • @ShiryouOni He showed clips from both games. You can tell easily which game it is if you've been following Guild Wars 2 footage. (Not to condescend, just trying to help) :)

  • you got so many good opinions you should write a book^^,

  • man you must be the most positive person in the world:P

  • 5-man system means I can always play with friends; don't have to schedule raiding; don't have to take bullshit from GMs. I'm all for that!

  • 5man groups:

    Easier: Yes.

    Faster: Yes.

    Social: Yes.

    Sense of accomplishment: No.

Sense of achievement doesn't come from pushing the same buttons on the same monsters, but the human interaction it requires to organize and the dedication it requires.

Just thought I would bring the other side of the story. Smarter, faster and easier, have a tendency to remove all form of achievement when it comes to pve, since really, smashing on monsters really not hard.

  • @GameMuch it could be 10 times harder depending on the dungeon modes. it could take even more time to finish a dungeon (though less time to actually start it). it could give away a strong sense of accomplisment because PVE in gw2 might actually require skill (dodging, "aiming", hybrid playstyle) rather than just organization and spamming buttons.

  • @SomeoneWhoCanType

Looking on the last 15 years in gaming, what has been the hardest, managing communiteis and organizing people, or dodging the same repeating attacks? :P

  • @GameMuch organizing a bunch of people is not hard in the gaming sense, it's not reflex/skill based. its just a pain in the ass. timing a dodge 1 sec before an attack hits you always is and always has been considered skill

  • @GameMuch oh and it may still be (according to what they said) necessary to carefully organize your team, could even be a lot harder than in wow raids because even the slightest mistake can wipe the team. im expecting something like mass effect combat: tense, fast paced

  • @GameMuch If you are referring to raids being social, I would agree if you consider the endless bitching and moaning about gear and drops being sociable. As for harder, raids are a joke. There's little actual skill required to run them aside from the logistics of getting them organized. Getting all the cats herded up and pointed in the same direction is the only real challenge. 5-man content has MUCH greater potential for a challenge since NO ONE gets to slack off.

  • LOl, Arena tested the dungeons using 5 mesmer, 5 rangers, etc and they said it worked

    without problem

  • i did like the 10 plus raiding system, it made guilds so much better and raids droped better gear which means they should be harder to get together and set up for a raid, one of the reasons wow is dieing in my opinion is the cross server Q'ing for all the raids BG and stuff makes it to ez,

  • is that a dervish with the sycthe and green?

  • @dekaonderr nah, just a necromancer with a skill

  • Most of his points seems to me like big pile of BS but nvm Im still looking forward to this game :)

  • If u want raids, be happy that WoW managed to milk out another Expansion for you by the end of this year =)! Raiding only works for most ppl who don't have a job or don't have to get up in the morning very early... i want a game like GW2 with some instant action, so no 4 hour raids in which if you leave BYE B1TCH!

  • lol, i like the way you say difficult

  • What do you need raids for??? In wow you do them for gear right?? I am almost certain that GW1 wasn't that focused on gear so there is no point in having massive raids. No sub fees?? I will see you all there!

  • What about raids for Guilds?

  • I love listening to your thoughts about Guild Wars 2. You're a great community motivator and I'm thankful for these videos. Thanks a lot!

  • Instanced dungeons and party systems completely negate the purpose of an MMO altogether in my opinion.. Thats one of those things that runescape did right...

And btw.. raids in WoW are still difficult; if one person sucks, the group notices and will probably kick u for it.. It really DOES matter that you play well even in those massive groups.

The thing I dont like about the common raid however, is that theres always just 1 right way to complete an encounter, and it strips the fun from it.

  • Being a player who LOVES playing a tank...I am going to miss being practically invincible and being able to carry an entire party through difficult content (for my own purpose). =) But I do love the idea of no tanks and healers. However, there's a part of me that says players are going to find a way around that system to go back to the tank and healer classes.

  • I'm glad they skipped raids. Raids are the main reason other mmo's suck balls. They basically force you into guilds, and lets face it, guilds suck. You have to join one to be successful in the late game, and for the most part you end up joining a guild with angry fuckheads who bitch and moan for every damn wipe. I just can't stand that shit. And if you don't do raids, guess what, delete your character and start over, cause levelcap = death, pretty much. Fuck raids.

  • @WoodenPotatoes: Thank you. Thank you so much for this. Thank you so much for being the voice of reason. Thank you for raising the point that raiding's requirements and hassles may not be commensurate to the fun and rewards it brings. Just thank you.

  • You obviously have never played rift. The difficulty is spread over healers/dps/tanks/support. I have played all of them and can safely say that all of them are hard. And most of the time you do notice the impact you are doing on things because of the game mechanics.

In rift there are a lot of bosses where you do need everyone to stay alive and often do individual parts. One example if Plutonus, if he kills one player he heals and if you don't have overpowered dps, the enrage will kick in.

  • @Vermilion409 DPSing in Rift isn't THAT hard, it mostly ends up with a case of "Don't Stand in the Bad". As for healing, most of it can be carried with just AoE heals if you have a good tank. As for Support, lols, that IS the slackiest job in Rift. Just keep up the buffs, and if Bard, pop Virtuoso in moments like with Beruhast were Bad be everywhere and you have no choice but to stand in it at the last 15% of his health. That's about it. Not to say it isn't fun, but the OP has a point.

  • @Bluefinger1987 yes, support is ridiculously easy. But more often then not, the tactics are complicated and tends to be quite challenging if you haven't out geared the content completely. The fun with having larger raids in guilds with people you know isn't only the challenge of the content, but also the social aspect of playing together with a lot of friends. Going up against hard things, learning and killing it together is why i play with other people

  • I can't decide between GW2 and TERA. I guess I just wait until the games come out.

  • it does have raids kinda dynamic events can be more then 200 players... so kinda that raidy

  • @bettafishguy95 you sir are an idiot

  • i found raiding very boring i prefered games like Tibia where you can go take on a dragon at lvl 10 or lvl 30 that a creature doesnt have a lvl and does the same damage. Also harsh panelties for death and challening like Realm of the mad god. Drop wise i love how rapplez did there pet system getting rare pet cards was awesome till they sold out and started selling them in a cash shop.

  • @ElfenLiedd wow was very well made and ive had alot of fun in pvping soon alot of games started copying wow which is understandle but its taking the personality out of the game i like what ive seen so far.

  • This doesn't meen that raiders won't have fun. The random instances that are MASSIVE and can have about 50 people which is awesome. Also the 100 vs 100 server wars will suffice for the city raider so stop complaining people

  • @Poptartman8869

    few things to mention...

there are no random instances, instances are only used either for personal story or for dungeons which cap at 5 people. i think you mean the world bosses, some of which are confirmed to scale to a hundred players.

also, last time i checked the cap on WvWvW was 2000(500 per zone)

  • I hope they put a "body builder" body choice. Not just skinny chicken shit people.

    "IM NOT A TWEEKER!"

  • Every single one of this guys videos ive watched has been about him trying to justify GW2 gameplay decisions. Never even once does he mention how GW2s content isnt designed to be an obstacle that you need to overcome by clever usage of game mechanics or good teamwork in any way. Every single open-world/dungeon encounter and game mechanic is designed to be braindead and have as little depth as possible.

GW2 is the Fable of MMORPGs or kinda like what Transformers 2 is for movies.

  • @Hydrott "Every single open-world/dungeon encounter and game mechanic is designed to be braindead and have as little depth as possible." Oh, and you know this how? Played the game at all?"

  • You sound exactly like charlieissocoollike

  • I do like their way of doing this. This game sounds amazing and actually something NEW. HOWEVER, what bothers me is it almost sounds like "End Game" does lack content. If anyone can point me to something that shows me otherwise I'd gladly be open to it. But from what I've read "End Game" doesn't sound like too much. You can PvP from level 1 .. and gear progression sounds like it's only through pve cause it's nullified in PvP because, of the way they designed it. Hoping for the best though!

  • @Blastbeats123

there isn't really endgame in GW2, the whole game is meant to be endgame, reaching level 80 just means your more experienced and as such can unlock more gear and new dungeons.

as for things to do when your level 80, thanks to the sidekicking system you have the whole game, you can continue the personal story, explore, do dungeons(oh which there the equivalent of 32) and so on or if you want help your guild dominate WvWvW PVP

  • @yoooyoyooo

well each dungeon has 4 modes, one easy story mode which is designed to be completable by any PUG group, there are then 3 much harder "branches" of the dungeon.

if memory serves the story mode only awards karma but the harder modes award special weapons such as the ghastly weapons which have effects like health stealing and change their looks at night to gain a ghostly blue aura.

  • Raids bore me to death. Dungeons on the other hand are much more fun. I just hope they make dungeons really hard so not anyone can team up with 4 other good players and win. If you have gear from that place it should mean you earned it by your own play and not beeing carried.

  • looks like Wow aka world of warcraft

  • @bettafishguy95 have you ever played world of warcraft? or hear do guild wars 2? you sir are very ignorant.

  • I second this idea

  • RUN AROUND IN A GLORIOUS CHAOTIC CLUSTER FUCK!!!

    :D

    Okay, I'm done.

By the way, Potatoes, still think you should have won the Ambassador, particularly given you ended up being correct with your video's representation of the Mesmer.

  • @DimitriEnerjak

Heh, thanks. Guess A.Net found something else wrong with it. Or they just didn't like people who weren't on camera winning. As if live-action is more effort.

  • @WoodenPotatoes Naw. They had to retain the official "obscurity" of the final profession prior to release, whether you were correct or not.

I know why they did it, doesn't mean I have to like it.

Regardless however, I do have to say I am rather pleased with what they did come up with for the Mesmer. As you stated, the old mechanics simply wouldn't have worked, but the new skill allocation is intriguing.

Either way, keep up the good video work and I'll see you in beta/live.

  • No raiding? Good effing riddance...

  • I thought that all raid style content is basically powerful world bosses which a crap load more than 40 people can join together to take on.

  • you know, the large scales events will include an amount people equal or higher than that seen in raids.

  • I loved, guild wars, have played it for 3500+ hours but the second game is a big turn off for me.

I even preordered it, now i canceled it. Every single aspect i loved about it was removed, starting from skills till massive dungeons (12). Arena Net is desperate about creating something new so it can outsell and beat wow, i hope you'll all have fun playing GW2. It was better when no one knew this game and no one cared.

  • For those confused, it was stated at Eurogamer, that some world bosses will require at least 10 people to defeat.

  • Actually developers removed the term raids and decided to implement dynamic events where EVERYONE can join anytime without the need of forming groups.

  • yes less morons in our game!

  • they have instanced dungeons...

  • @noodlesdude23

    Doesn't make them raids.

  • @WoodenPotatoes A few things, you sorta brought this up,but it doesnt make it a bad game.

The 5 mans, are supposed to scale to be as tough as raids.

Dynamic Events, are basically the raids. They have said that some of them will go from 1 person,up to hundreds of people. (its like a giant PUG raid, unless you grab a bunch of your guildies/friends)

But this also doesnt make the game bad,the content is there, just in a different way.
