  • oh dear!

  • Who the heck was having a grand mal seizure at the sound mixer? The volume levels were a mess, the vocals: unadulterated, narcissistic, off-key dweebness! Phlegm-filled wheezing has more panache than pretense-filled Weezer. The musical arrangement was a 3rd rate, note-for- note imitation of the original. There have been many re-dos and/or samplings from the prolific genius that is Gary Numan. This is one of the worst. Certainly not a worthy tribute to a vastly superior artist.

  • @jahnjahn4 gary newman sucks. I wasnt born before the keyboard was invented, im not impressed by it. so i like real music. You also think you are way to smart. i hate it

  • @wookiesack What makes music that uses a keyboard less real than other kinds?

  • add weezer to the list of ga ga prince NIN oh the list is endless right through to the dance djs who have paid homage to the geneous that is gary numan

  • It's Weezer, therefore, it sucks. Props to Numan for writing the song.

  • They did this justice. Sounds great.

  • this will lead new breeds to the original so that is a good thing. i like it but weezer is a crummy 1950s name for a neo new wave band.

  • this is the most awsomest song EVER and y'all are the greatest band for covering it :)

  • good cover

  • I LOVE this song and I think that it's is a pretty good version tbh

  • sounds like a bunch of drunk idiots playing with a karaoke machine.

  • @star112345 that is because you, sir, are a fool

  • its an alright cover, very comparable in my opinion to dead weathers.

  • honestly, I would put the vocals fo this version to the version of gary numan

  • Pretty decent version imo.

  • I`m not a great fan of Weezer and I am of Gary/Tubeway Army. Just cos I`m not a fan of Weezer doesn`t mean I don`t like this, actually, I`m pretty impressed by it. It is good to hear bands making a tribute to another, and putting their own stamp on it in the process.

  • most music snobs have no talent themselves,,they just look for things to bitch about,,and act musically superior than the masses.like they know something we dont,,some big secret,,lol

  • 18 of Gary Numan's friends aren't electric.

  • Fuckin' critics! I'll bet they had a blast doing this. I know I would.

  • Nice try but the original song is way better.

  • They dont need to redo this song.It was already perfect.Other groups will just slaughter it.Id support numan music before any other group redo!

  • Id rather listen to oldies than modern day copy cats.So whats the point. If they want to pay tribute, write a song about numan!

  • @crjdemte

Loads of artist pay tribute in the form of a cover song you fucking toolbag. Come off your high horse.

  • The chant is death, death, death until the sun cries morning.

  • @hurtzc It is, Down in the Park.

  • I'm partial to Information Society's cover.

  • Terrible

  • @strat002 It's really not that bad

  • Replicants had the BEST cover of this song.

  • they're gonna play this on the memories tour. I'm stoked

  • wow i remember this song! the original is obviously better but its cool that weezer paid tribute to it

  • love love love love love this song

  • Is that a frozen salami?

  • @happyenjoytime nop, it´s a scallop

  • very cool but never as good as the main man

  • Interesting - the sound reminds me of the Velvet Underground - I don't think that's a bad thing :-)

  • I like this......hell yes...great live band version

  • fantastic band putting a wonderful spin on a classic tune.

  • Well thought out!

  • they should introduce a love button for this song!! like aint enough

  • There is a certain charm in a "rock" band covering a ebm song :D

  • eeeek...terrible cover.

  • Pretty cool cover track! Always good to see new bands keeping classic Numan music alive.

  • 10: Weezer = Genius. Numan = Genius.

    20: goto 10

    30: RUN

Stop arguing, save your passions for something more worthwhile.

  • @tellyheads your program will never reach line 30.

  • @tellyheads The command at line 30 is extraneous ;)

  • fantastic tribute to the fantastic Gary Numan well done.

  • this sounds live. It's not a studio mastered version so chill out people. It's fine on its own merits.

  • For those who are nagging you should instead appreciate the fact that weezer payed tribute to a great band !!

  • bit harsh, gary numans version is obviously better, but what is the harm in a good band paying homage to a great song and artist???

  • @Kenpohi because the rape and fuck it up. Simple.

  • @Kenpohi Seriously. I mean, this version isn't that good, but at least it's better then the Marylin mother-fugging Manson cover of Down in the Park. Jesus that was crap. (Although strangely, MM does do some good songs).

  • the opening turned me totally off. this is a bad cover of the original and the remastered.

  • One of the better covers of this song. It's really very good.

  • Best cover of this song I've heard yet.

  • Is this new Weezer? I'm confused... this sounds a lot like blue album and Pinkerton (their best albums in my opinion) but the video says it's from pork and beans single....

  • Wow. I was expecting garbage, but this was great! Never would have expected an band like this to cover Numan.

  • Of course the original will always be original....Anyway!

    That's a good version.

The guit part of the synth is really good.

    Cool!!!

  • Dead weather cover is better!

  • check out the cover by the dead weather

  • This is way better than any of my expectations, well done

  • hey Weezer....... i know a cover to do..... HOT SMOKE AND SASSAFRASS by THE BUBBLE PUPPY...... great GN cover by the way

  • Excellent cover.

It's still only a cover -- but it's still good.

  • so unlike the original which makes it brilliant, im even happier that Gary Numan is finally being recognised for his accomplishments

  • an awesome homage

  • this is alright, but i highly suggest checking out the dead weather's cover of this song

  • Good cover! I really like it! NUMANNNNNNNNN

  • This is a great version and I love Weezer, but it is not as great as the live version from Numan's "Hope Bleeds" DVD, check that out. It is in the related video section. IMHO the best Gary Numan cover is "Down in the park" by the Foo Fighters.

  • WEEZER rocks this song!!! Just as good if not better than the original.

  • the original is far better

  • this is a nicely-done cover song!

  • I like this cover, probably the best so far. i like the roar and punky edge it has. top one mate.

  • Really a great interpretation of Numan's orginal.

  • Excellent effort

  • Do you have their cover of REM's odfellows local 151?

  • I like the original, but this one... gee, it pulls me so off my chair to giggle and wiggle, maybe they just caught the spirit of the song and filled it in a today's bottle... Amazingly good cover, man, the feedbacks. Wish i had done this (my highest rating)

  • I´d buy "Brian Bell alone"^^

  • this bass line is amazing. wow. rad cover.

  • there is a b side on the red album?

  • sounds like a lot of Brian singing, awesome cover too

  • ya im nearly positive its brian!

  • this is by gary numan....... 1979!

  • Gotta give props - excellent cover.

  • who is singing here?

  • go Johnny Knoxville!!

  • WOW!!! Excellent cover!

    5 stars..

    64m >:-)

  • The Dead Weather (Jack Whites new band) also covered this for a b side.

  • tubeway army are "friends" electric? replicas 1979

  • Republica has done a cover of this song. So far the best I've heard.

  • Gus and Fin do a way better version.

  • This song is rad. A la The Pixies in combination with Devo ( I don't know how accurate that is, the only think I could think of).

  • It's by "Tubeway Army" The lead singer was Gary Numan so I think you got the vibe of the song right.

  • This must've been live because you can hear people in the background screaming

  • It's Patrick and Scott singing with both of them swapping leads. You can basically tell that it's them by their voices. I don't hear very much of Rivers and Brian in the song at all.

  • This isn't bad... at least it takes the song seriously compared to that Nancy Boys bouncy overly silly, bubble gum pop version.

Don't get me wrong, I also really like Weezer, but this is far from them at their best.

  • sounds like the inro from the it crowd to me

  • haha, your right, its a cool cover though

  • you do know that the intro from the IT crowd was based on 'are friends electric'

good song btw, but not a scratch on the original

  • As covers go, this is quite probably the best one I've heard for a long time

  • See Ukelele w/bon Scots

  • I almost replied to my own post. Still brilliant!!!!

  • Yeah, I heard they covered Oddfellows local 151 for a Red Album B-side, but I have yet to hear it.

  • It's OK.Not a patch on the original but then they rarely are!

  • Sounds very much like Nancy Boys cover of Are Friends Electric

    Hmmmmm....

  • cover of a new wave classic by gary numan...

    =w=

  • i don't entirely know how i feel about this.

well, at least i don't hate it.

  • this isnt a demo, its a bside on the pork & beans single, but whos singing? scott?

  • Sounds like all of them singing together...but mostly Brian.

  • Sounds like the whole group is taking leads on this one.

  • great song!
