Captain Perky here...he was probably 45 pounds or so...can not legally keep them until July first as they might have a "brood" of babies in a rockpile somewhere closeby...I only keep the grey cod but sometimes also fish for the rockfish...the rockfish are the best eaters only short of a yellow-eye rockfish...we throw small halibut back by the hundreds unharmed as well...you can not kill everything I have found in life...I release octopus as well even though I could get a buck a pound for them.

I've seen this happen with Ling Cod all the way down in San Diego. We had a wide open Calico Bass bite on the surface and one guy was fishing the bottom brought a Giant Ling latched onto a Bass, the Ling let go right at the surface and actually started chasing all the other Calico bass we had going on the surface! It was the craziest thing to see a Ling Cod boiling on Bass!
