Besides that this is a great song by Roxanne who kicks a lot of female asses in this song. in Holland it's well known in the "Gabber-culture" by the sample from 2:45 to 2:50 in the song: Chosen Few - Name of my DJ. Thnx. also for that Roxanne!
@costdollaz But Grand Daddy I.U. wrote it not G Rap. Grand Daddy I.U. caught so much flack for writing it because of the harsh disses of the female rappers.
@WhatsBeefs that's not the reason she dissed them. it came about as a result of all the drama and attitudes behind the scene at the sista's in the name of rap concert. it was so bad she decided to perform "dance to this" in stead of "brotha's aint shit" as she origianlly planned. she rocked the show performing a song no one had heard until then. now that's a true mc!. i can send you the link of her speaking on it on yo mtv raps back in the 90's.
@boriqua...yo. Ive been looking for that video since YOUTUBE came out. i still remember how i taped over my mother soap opera and her Oprah once i heard jane announce the line up..lyte said.."IMMMMMM TOO LAAAAAAAAAARGGGE FOR THAT"
@SLMoodswing77 I remember reading that her rebutle went something like that...the Jane Show didn't air out in Cali back then so I didnt see it I just read about it in all the publications.
What I still want to see after all these years is The Jane Show episode where MC Lyte and Yo-Yo confront her...I believe Nikki D. and Tairrie B. were also up on the panel siding of course with Lyte & YoYo
@boriquacub76 I have that episode on tape. The show was titled "Girl Rappers Show It Off.." It was taped in '92. I actually sent the tape to someone on Youtube to get it uploaded, but he never did it. I got the tape back though..
Song was written by Grand Daddy IU...the beef goes back to the Sisters in the Name Of Rap concert back in Oct 91...the bigger named stars that headlined it at the time were walking around backstage on some bigger then life shit. Shante always felt snubbed by the strong sisterhood amongst female MC's back then and never felt they gave her her props for being one of the first ladies to kick down the doors for women in hip hop...
@boriquacub76 i've been listening to Grand Daddy IU alot and i believe that you are right, but in my head i still believe that Kool G. Rap wrote this lol.
@jerudoriginal91 I dont think G Rap ghost wrote anything for Shannie I just know they did that joint "Deadly Rhymes" together...perhaps her wrote her verse...I do know Kane wrote alot of shit for her.
@jerudoriginal91 If G. Rap didn't write it, Shante had to be inspired by him. This is the exact same flow from "Talk Like Sex." The beat is even similar. Incredible.
vicious flow!
