I've never been to this place but just have to go!! Do these low flying exercises take place daily or do you have to know when they are scheduled to be taking place to get the photos & videos. Will a same jet make numerous passes in a day or does it just fly by onto the valleys farther away or will they keep coming back to this valley in particular again & again???
@Kringlebeast cough cough lol - it smells good though :-) pity theres no shot of the farm at the bottom of the loop thats got on it p**s off Biggles!!!
fantastic vids, thanks.when i was living at abbots reading,rusland,s.lakes. in spring 02-03? a friend and i witnesed a punch up between 3 f15's and a typhoon, absolutly awesome.does anyone on this interbot know of, or have any pics of this showdown apart from myself and some deaf farmers?aha horsley.ulverston.
@QuincyGD4456 the first one was a C looked to be a strike eagle you can tell by the pilons from the air intake to the rear much wider the your stanard f15 and the 2nd was a C varient aswell as far as i can tell
wow plenty of false info going around....ok....1. closest town: Machynlleth
2. both american and brits fly all the planes.....all apart of there training 3. no planes dares to do anything except for what they are told there flight path is, and at what altitude to be at. they fly usualy 4-5 times a week, wednesdays tend to be the 'lets all go out flying day'
I live in corris so i see them approx 1-2 minutes after the location in the vid.....
i think llanbedr is the closest town, and the loop is about 15 minutes away. RAF will probably go through more than the USA, because the nearest AB is RAF Valley, which a lot of Hawks are based at. if you look up Llanbedr on google maps it will tell you the roads.
Team USA are awesome IMO. The Lakenheath birds I saw at the Bwlch on 16th September were going lower and faster than most of the RAF jets. It takes time to learn the routes to fly through these narrow valleys - most of the RAF boys have been flying the loop since their Valley days.
They're not shit though, they just tend to stay higher for the most part, probably subject to tighter height restrictions.
I was chatting to a local on Thursday, and he was once on the spur of the hillside just after the left turn out of the Bwlch Pass with his son and nearly had is head taken off by an F-15!
Out of four passes on Thursday, one of them was level with me, but he soon climbed for the left turn towards Cad and Corris.
Drivel. Pyscho bable. I was at Cad West a couple of weeks ago. The weather was pants. An F15 came through semi-high. The pilot looked down on the mountain and when he saw that two photographers had braved the weather he pulled around Corris and came back - lower, louder, and faster than I have ever seen. Team USA kick ass!!
Great Video! Indeed a very good choice to stop the music and let the aircraft do the talking. Very well done! When looking at the video it realy feels like going back asap.
man 2 hecs ur lucky lol im going there somtime in the next 2 weeks and i agree with typhoon10 thnx for no music with the f-15 ill be doing no music on ma vid

If I were to fly there from the U.S. what is the closest airport with international flights? What's the best/closest town to stay in?
all4golf 1 year ago
@all4golf Probably Birmingham Airport then drive through Wales to Machynlleth but thats just off the top of my head and others may know more.
jimbo99ful 1 year ago
@all4golf Hey, the nearest airport that has U.S. arrivals is Manchester. The route would then be around 105 miles to machynlleth.
Hope this helps?? :)
welshlad1982 1 year ago
@welshlad1982 - I did some research and Birmingham also has one airline that flies back and forth, looks about the same distance to the loop.
