  • That mask you're wearing is not NIOSH approved. It's a nuisance dust mask and even says on the label it doesn't protect your lungs. You can tell immediately by the single strap. Plus, a dust mask is worthless if you have a beard. Try a 3M 8210.

  • @SFConifer Isn't he risking inhaling lead paint dust? That looks like an older home.

  • now you are in your element - finally found something you can do - leave the actual painting to the pros though pal!

  • sand trim? if the trim paint is originally latex based then no u dont have to latex grips to latex. but if its oil based or other materials like very smooth metal then yes u should sand

  • but if you are changing colors it will take fewer coats to finish it...expecially if you are going from a very light to dark or vise versa.

  • Great often overlooked suggestion. You have to scuff the surface on trim before you apply paint! Just like he said!

  • Oh I just showed my husband this. he never sanded & our paint all pealed off. Now we have to do every door frame. All the doors were a mess so we bought new doors.

Always sand befor painting haha. Thanks for the video

  • @Doreens

Just so you know, they have primers that are formulated to stick to glossy surfaces without any sanding (like Bullseye 123). They should still be clean and lightly sanded to remove inconsistencies, but as for the paint sticking, it is much easier, faster and more even to apply a coat of primer than to sand.
