@HuntersVermin Hey man, 1st off love the videos...recently ive been seeing a couple of foxes in my back garden and was wanting to know if a .22 would do the job at about 60 yds.
@dbbigdaddy Myxomatosis is spread from rabbit to rabbit by the rabbit flea, it is not supposed to be transferable to humans though if i shot one i would leave it in the hedge for a hungry fox to have it. Rabbits with Myxomatosis will look very sickly and will have swollen eyes and anus.
@HuntersVermin I have recently bagged my first few rabbits, one by waiting and using the high pitched squeak to lure it out however, I was wondering if you had any tips on ambushing rabbits such as where to lay i.e near bushes, behind their holes etc. ANY help would be greatlly appreciated.
@looperterd Very good. when i am ambushing rabbits i tuck myself into the hedge within range of their holes with the wind blowing from them to me so they can't smell me. I sit very quietly with the gun loaded and at the ready and take them cleanly as they come out to feed in the field. Leave them there till your ready to go so you don't spook any other rabbits on their way out.
@kumquatsta Since my Theoben has 50+ shots from a full charge i rarely need a recharge in the field but i could take another fully charged buddy bottle with me to replace the empty one if i needed more shots.
Is it true you can hunt with a bb gun and still kill a rabbit, cause im 11 and I have a single shot 35fps scorpion rifle (bb type) and I might start asking any farmers if the need some help with the vermin?
@360darkwolf No bb guns aren't accurate or powerful enough for hunting, you'd be better off with an air rifle with 11.5ft/lb of power 560fps in .22cal or 780fps in .177. But you might have to wait till your a little older.
Do you have any ticks in Great Britain? Our rabbits and squirrels will get infested with them in cycles. Seems like a mild winter will bring on more ticks the following year. Our deer in Pennsylvania had lots of ticks this year, too. Keep those videos coming. Very enjoyable.
always love to watch your vids... any winter hunts coming up? keep them coming. Rabbit and Grey Squirrel are always a great treat. I love to trick the wife and tell her its chicken or lamb, she usually gives complements of best stew ever lamo.
Okay. I already have 6 real guns, but when i shoot my dad has to be out with me. My lowest caliber rifle is my 22lr marlin game series rifle, and i want a airrifle i can go out, practice getting better with the marlin. And i was looking at the breeman 1051 air rifle. Its fps is close to the 22lr it is 1,000fps. Do u guys think it would be a good choice
I really want to get an Air Rifle, maybe not for hunting straight away but maybe in the future is there any (CHEAP) ones you would recomend for a first time buyer?
I love rabbit hunting. Your an amazing hunter by the way. Where did you get your shootin sticks? I had a bi pod on my previous rifle but the new one doesn't have a mounting place.. do yo think i should ad the swivel stud to mount the bi pod or just round up some shootin sticks? Thanks again your awesome!!!
Hey I've been watching your videos for a while now and I have to say your a very impressive shot. I use a Winchester .177 crack action which causes a scope to be very inaccurate, so i was just wondering how much did pick up your gun for because i'm looking for a bolt action. SF SAINT
lol "sticking magazine" that has happened to me so many times with my S200, with mine its caused when the O-rings in the mags (which hold the pellets in place) become damaged and catch on the mechanism which stops the mag from indexing round and you end up discharging air instead of a pellet.
Nice shooting chief! good comentary! its nice you say what is happening while it happens, the gravel and mud on your feet mix sucks been there its like an alarm for game.
Been watching many videos on you tube since I got back in to the sport (now 39 years old, so a long time since the days as a young lad with a BB gun!).
Your videos are entertaining, informative and good for the sport. Plus you treat the quarry with respect and are humane.
@EggyEm123 Its a 30ft/lb .22cal Theoben MFR pcp powered air rifle and i shoot over farm land that i have been given permission to control the vermin on.
Man!!! I love your video's... It's like watching a small documentary. After I watch your video's I alway's get the urge to take op my .22 and go rabbit hunting. :)
I want to let you know that i really enjoy whatching your videos. For christmas im getting a Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 .22 with 25fpe. I live in America so its legal to own an air rifle with that much power. Do you think i will be able to take down skunks and rabbits with it? Thanks i just subscribed by the way.
@MatriiXxBullet Yes it should do if you shoot for the head or the heart as most people in the UK use air rifles with about 580fps in .22cal and 780fps in .177.
@josephsgamertag I would say any time in day light hours would be ok but i like to hunt the magpies and crows here in Northern Ireland in the morning as that is when they are hungry and looking for someting to eat around the farm yards.
hey huntersVermin i need help, last year i didn't really know when the right time was to hunt rabbits, I live in California and its a little rainy. When would be the best time to start my rabbit season ?!
Another great video. I love how you make hunting so tranquil. Makes me think Ireland has to be some of the most beautiful land on Earth. Merry Christmas to you brother.
Im having trouble hunting, I shoot a rabbit from about 30-35 yards with the lightning XL, often the pellet goes STRAIGHT THROUGH the head, and the rabbit rolls around (still alive). Is this a pellet problem? Its a .22 rifle.
@heald111111111111111 No most modern air rifles with 11.5ft/lb of energy will put a pellet straight through a rabbits head, but so long as you put the pellet through the brain at a point just behind the eye and below the ear it is dead, it may kick a bit with nerves but it is brain dead. But if you should see it trying to get back onto its feet or move towards its burrow it may only be wounded so quickly put a finishing shot into it.
great shooting once again! i always look forward to your videos they are very well made! i bagged a rabbit this evening which i was happy with seeing how quickly the light fades, damn winter nights! this rabbit had a few fleas which made me wonder, what do you do with them if they have fleas?
@StarC2SuRge They all have fleas but they never do me any harm but some people will hang them on a near by fence post etc to let them cool so the fleas will leave to look for a new host.
I always make time to watch your videos HuntersVermin , as they are always that bit better than everybody elses. One question though , what do you do with the Myxy rabbits when you shoot them , as you put the first one in this video in your game bag ?
Another great video, makes me want to go out n get some rabbits, but it's late in the season, plus there isn't any good place like that around here that will ok me to shoot on their land (farm)
@philmcd831 Because there is less cover in the winter the grass is much shorter and the leaves in the hedge rows have all gone plus the ground is so wet that every foot step makes a squelching noise making it much harder to get close.
Thats one of my choices if I ever go to the dark side. Have you had any problems with yours. Also thinking of FX 400, and maybe a BSA. What do you think. I do small game now with RX2 .22 and HW97 .20.
@crazywhitedog78 Yes i hunt alone when i film as it takes time to do it right which would be boring for anyone with me plus i would feel silly filming in front of some one.
Another great vid HV, are we gonna get a sample or teaser of the DVD on here?? Hope this isn't the last of the year, if it is, I hope you have a top Xmas and a good new year. Atb, Bobby
@bobby2tokes Thanks and yes i might put up a short trailer for the DVD at some time think Malc is going to do one as well. I hope to up load some magpie vids as well.

Again great video! Good shooting! Do you always do solo hunts?
crazywhitedog78 3 months ago
@crazywhitedog78 Yes i hunt alone when i film as it takes time to do it right which would be boring for anyone with me plus i would feel silly filming in front of some one.
