  • Day 12

For a young 13 year old, this journey has been harsher than hell.

    No food.

    Low on water.

One day I will discover every song by Queen- one strip of suggestions at a time.

  • 6 People live in window-less appartments

  • @brndncffrn jajajajaja

your eloquence and accuracy for that joke is sickkkkkkk

you brought me a lot of happiness reading that!

    greetings from argentina!

  • @chuequitosam Welcome. Haha

  • I thought this song was so weird the first time I heard it, but half way through, I realized I'm an idiot and this song is amazing! Inspirational to me and now one of my favorites from this album!

  • Freddie was connected to the gods.

  • @MrKaivalyapada He still is.

  • his voice is beautiful

  • @project721 and we still love you and need you!

  • sometimes I think I am living the life of this song.

  • 6 persons closed his windows today!

  • The Hotel New Hampshire If You Had Seen this beautiful movie you whould have known this brilliant phrase

  • Based on the 'World according to Garp'

  • @skilescoches False, it's "The Hotel New Hampshire". Author is right, but wrong book.

  • It's all about me :p

  • don't give in, stay around. terrible song, but you are here to hear it.

  • The most positive song ever!

  • Well, sorry... not only Freddie. All the band called Queen were before his time!

  • @ReadyToReload Please bide thy cussings, ken?

  • That's our life now... Freddie sung this 25 years ago. Can someone said that Freddie wasn't a man before his time?

  • i just love this, love this !!!!!!

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

  • Yes!!!! this is the song!!!!!

  • TEMAZO

  • I miss Fred

  • @timwert72 hahahah i know something about that! :D

  • Ever since 1986 I've been saying THIS should have been a single instead of that lame 'It's a hard Life'

SORRY FRED! :-\...Mercury/Deacon song this one by the way. Video could have been wonderful also.

    *OH SIGH* :-\

  • @Pascalsmit1971 mmm in this momento i felt this way no money to spend and no job and feel stranger in a other city....but ...its a hard life is a beautiful song too....bya the way.....with theses 2 songs... give up....

  • una de las mejores canciones en mi opinion, de su mejor disco, the works.

  • dos personas tienen sus oidos en el trasero

  • This is awesome, i should stop listening to their popular stuff over and over again

  • @ben710 Indeed. When I listen to Queen I listen to on album in one go. I like the non-hits more than the hits. Queen are amazing!!! (I looove all songs, they are pure beauty and musical perfection)

  • @Kalabanano What other non-hits of theirs do you like?

  • @dowling1981 All!! Personal favourites are: The March Of The Black Queen, Brighton Rock, Drowse, The Millionaire Waltz, '39, Doing Allright, Seaside Rendezvous

  • @Kalabanano how can you have favourites?

    theyre all legendary.

  • Zajebiste ^^

  • <3 why is this song not a high rated one of Queens? <3

  • Really liked this song 'cept for the "love is all you need" part.

Lines like that always piss me off `cause they`re just so overly optamistic and not true.

  • @MwahahaXkittens

Until you find true love, and then you realise how true it actually is.

    Like I did, for instance.

  • @MwahahaXkittens *optimistic

  • @handsomedevil98 No, the bass of A kind of magic, is low version..

  • bring me the one who accidentally pressed the UNLIKE button....

  • Genialne!!!

  • The bass is a fast version of A kind of magic!!

  • Let's keep this comment simple for a change..

    Here it comes..

    <3

  • This is real MUSIC! :')

  • John is a GENIUS! :D

  • You Queen fans are "oh so nice" :D

  • deep this song is simply deep

  • seems like justin bieber himself have seen the video...

  • 1 person cant get through a window

  • MY take on the song title is that if your life is going bad and you're feeling suicidal, don't go near open windows as you may be tempted to jump out of one of them!

Instead, just keep on passing them!

    Simples.

  • @galaxysurfer Nice interpretation :)

  • @YaraSarfaty

Thanks! I'm fairly convinced that that really IS the actual meaning, but until one of the remaining band members can confirm it, I suppose we may never know. :(

  • Comment removed

  • What does "keep passing the open windows" mean ? I'm not american so....:)

  • @MultiBJA2 It means you pass through the open window. Exactly that.

  • @MultiBJA2 It's from the novel and film "The Hotel New Hampshire". It means when you're depressed or "down on your luck", keep persevering. Queen was going to make the soundtrack for the film but the producers changed their minds. They put the song on their album in 1984 instead.

  • First song i heard without the dislikes.

Except for the butterfingered culopelo. :D

  • Dear Youtube: The dislike boton is dangerously near de like boton, and some mouses are really sensible... that's why this song has 1 negative vote i supose

  • @CuloPelo well it's 6 now ( I didn't press it) . Just thought you'd like to know since you think everyone must like the same music, and never disagree.

  • @Roggiedodgie take it easy bro. i don't think such a thing. i strongly respect every person and every kind of music. it's just funny to joke about the dislike boton, nothing else :)

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!!!

  • god i wish i knew about this song sooner... has such a deep meaning..

  • Thanks Queen :) I think I can be allright now :)

  • This Song should be on the Greatest Hits II Album!!!

    R.I.P Farrokh Bulsara

You will always be my Idol..... forever.

  • @Nightwalker2109

It would be on a greatest hits album if it was one of their greatest hits...it wasn't.

  • this song was written for the movie "Hotel New Hampshire 1984 " but was never been in the movie's soundtrack

  • 1 person didnt pass open windows

  • All queen songs are good to me, not any of them i dislike :D and i expecially like this one

  • I hate the album The Works...

    It's too commercial for queen

Hammer to Fall and Tear it Up are the only ones faithful to queen

But this saves the album... A mixture of rock, disco and blues... Absolutely amazing

  • This has Joe Jackson written all over it.

That's not a bad thing at all. Joe Jackson was BRILLIANT

  • I just read John Irving's book 'Hotel New Hampshire' and there they kept saying "Keep passing The Open Windows" :)

This song is based on the book I think !

  • @weasleynmunatoti it was written for the movie

  • the songs sung by queen are usually meaningfull :)

  • 1 person cant go past an open window without licking it

  • This song make me SMILE!! :D

  • underratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderratedunderrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can hear this song over and over again:)

  • how have i never heard this before it is brilliant . its is so relevant and true ... just beleave

  • La classe non è acqua e Freddie e il resto del gruppo lo hanno dimostrato ampiamente se dopo tutti questi anni stiamo ancora ad ascoltare i loro bellissimi brani immortali. Queen rules forever

  • Underground Youtube Decrees~

I Thou shalt not make fucking retarded Justin Bieber Jokes

II Thou shalt not comment on the dislike bar

III Thou shalt not combine the first two decrees EVER.

IV Thou shalt stay on topic in the comment boxes

V Thou shalt spread word of the decrees

    ~Underground Youtube Decrees~

Disobeying the decrees will doom you to a Youtube afterlife filled with bad rap music and male enhancement advertisements.

  • Meravigliosa song, meraviglioso artista, meravigliosa voce. Grazie infinite Freddie. Sei unico e insuperabile

  • amazing tune. the works was a brill album start to finish.

  • This song shows the real side of humane nature: fraility!!! One of my favourite song of all the timeee! I'm so sad that it's not as famous as the other ones

  • Damn Freddie, you are still encourageing me! see you on the other side my friend you never grow old:-)

  • Guitar Hero: Queen anyone?

  • twenty years later and I am old enough to get this song

  • @Scarlett1705 szar vagy

  • @Sharpee1993 ?????

  • @Sharpee1993 cujjuni e merda vaffanculooo!!

  • Someone should do a cover on this song with the bass guitar cause John Deacon did one of the best Bass play ever

  • after hearing this , I felt much better - thanks for the upload

  • Thats one hell of a bass rhythm John Deacon did awesome

  • Awesome song!

  • @ Robin360. You are so right my friend. John Deacon is a Bass GOD!!!!

  • @ElectricMovements Yes, mr deacon recorded awersome bass line, example: back chat, dragon attack and "the invisble man"

  • I love this song so much

    Freddies voice sounds great here

    (What am I saying)

I meant Freddies voice sounds great everywhere

    Im a great fan

  • un temazooooooooooooooooooooo

    queen lo mejor

  • gazzachaps1986.... the song Queen completely ripped off for this track was Joe Jackson's 'Steppin' Out'. It wasnt like Queen to rip off someone else but here is the proof that they did on this occasion.

  • @MrNotbornyesterday1 I don't get it. Why is this a ripoff? Because they both feature a piano? They are not even similar in melody. You don't know what you're talking about.

  • @winnetouch

    I think he's right. it's really very similar^^

even if it's got another melody.

  • Scratch that, the film was called something entirely, the title song was a recurring phrase in the film lol.

  • @Stuart0000X the film was called 'Hotel New Hampshire' i think:)

  • Yeah, it was :D

  • This song was originally written for a film. However, the film director changed his mind and opted for a more cheaper "alternative".

Despite the small set back, Freddie still saw a gem in this song and decided to have this on the next up and coming album, the Works Album.

The film also had the same title as this song too.

  • I'm so happy my friend told me about this song becaue it describes just how I feel right now.

  • @JeanetteMnicole good for you, good for you...

  • I'm looking for a job and this song is perfect to listen and sing right now....:))) Just believe..Just keep passing the open windows

  • no not breakthru,it wasnt a queen song but had almost exactly the same backing track!

  • AWSOME SONG!

  • honestly does anyone even have to say it.....no, but I will anways, Freddie Mercury is fuckinng awesome!

  • This is an awesome track!

  • Where are you? Comeback and say that word to me...again..

  • Whenever you feel down!! Listen this song ansaya :) Someone say that to me.. She really love QUEEN.

  • Damn, does anyone hear that BASS!?

John Deacon is the greatest bass player ever yet he's SO underrated! It should be a felonious crime!

  • Thanks for poinring that out! The bass in this one is really awesome.

Very often the bass players ARE really underrated, because usually drums and guitar are the more "dominant" ones. But I've really tried to pay more attention to the bass lately. John Deacon indeed IS a great bass player - perhaps greatest as you said.

  • @Robin360 True that! <3

  • @Robin360 im hearing and hes amazing, but i dont think hes better than John Myung of Dream Theater. they're definitely up there with the best of all time along with Cliff Burton and Geddy Lee

  • @jmiester25 Nope Deacon is simply the best.

  • @Robin360 I don't really think he's underrated. I don't play bass, never notice bass but in queen songs I ALWAYS pay attention to it. Deacon is one bad mother... :). Every one just forgot about him, since his retirement. Everybody's talking about flea now a days, but back when queen was on the scene Deacon was Flea of the 70's and 80's :D

  • @winnetouch Flea is not even a bassist in comparison to Deacon.

  • @ultrafragola2000 Right. Stupid me :P How could I even compare the two :)

  • @Robin360 You are right ^^

  • i have just heard an old song with the exact same backing track to this, not sure what it is though!any ideas?

  • Hi gazzachapps1986

Could it be "Breakthru" from The Miracle album?

    Happy 20010!

    (:))

  • It took me quite a while to understand what the "keep passing the open windows" means. Whenever I'm down I listen to this. (: Freddie's voice never stops to amaze me!

  • lol same problem

  • "Hotel New Hamshire" read it. You will see ;)

  • BRILLIANT333.

  • what is there to say about this song? Queen rules always has and always will!! Freddy Mercury is da bomb!! Keep rocking man well see u in the afterlife soon<33333333

  • Love Freddie's voice. Love the piano. Love the drums. But most of all, the lyrics in this beautiful song are very special to me.

  • That's one of my favorite songs of Queen.

Saddly there's no more band of music like they, today we have only garbage music.

  • GRAZIE INFINITE FREDDIE

  • The Works album one of my cd most played.

  • yeah even every one of the songs on the works are really good!

  • fuck i never heard this song! it's really great
