he was a big fish in a lil pond we'll see if he can hang with the big dogs...but hey your right i wish i could play D1, more power to Cierre but i dont think he was prolly even top 20 in the country but like I said b4 hopefully im wrong then i can show my son how we shut down a great player...but i still think he was overated
LOL what an idiot. Brian Kelly who is a proven winner, talent evaluator, and player developer is moving one of our most talented backs (Riddick) to WR so he can get Wood on the field because of his abilities. Yeah sounds real overrated to me and he is still a freshman as he redshirted last year. The competition argument is ridiculous at best. The players blocking for him are low level talent and he still gashed ds. U just suck and wish you had a D I scholarship so you are spitting sour grapes.
who the hell r u...the other RB was Perez and he got 5 yds on like 10 carries the only person to get yards was steven raab the qb and that was on a lucky 54 yard scramble for a TD and even if he didnt get carries till the 2nd half you both were predicted to get over 100yds bcuz no1 gives Fillmore any respect (lol...that I undersand though bcuz we usually suck but that year we were good as hell) oh and we stuck him so hard that he was pissing blood the next day...dont believe me ask him urself
WAY OVERATED, played him in 2007. He got 12 yards against us (Fillmore Flashes)dont think he'll do much in college, he played in a weak division and had a really padded schedule...He transfered from Saint Bonaventure in Ventura, Ca bcuz he wasn't going to start until at least his JR year but would still spilt time with Matt Lee...he IS really fast but then again so is every1 is on that level, I see him as a returner at best...hopefully im wrong cuz hes a cool cat but i think he's overated
I still want to see if he can be a playmaker at RB but could you imagine his potential at safety? The defense could be special with him in the secondary.
I am very interested to see how he does at Notre Dame.... I am an Irish fan but i have to say he doesn't impress me very much in these highlights... The teams he was playing SUCKED... and i didnt see a lot of action between the tackles... He may end up being a specialist at Notre Dame.... But... hopefully he can live up to his hype and become a playmaker
Great hands and vision. I hope his speed can increase a bit...I'd like to see him even lose a few pounds just for speed, which is what ND really needs right now imo.
trust me he has speed im from oxnard and ive been to all his games for the past 3 years the only problem is that santa clara didnt play to much competition
if this kid can add about 10 pounds he will have a chance to play running back at 6'0'' 205. armando allen was supposed to be a slot and look at what he does.
Saying Bryce and Trent are better doesnt mean Cierre isnt gonna be great. Bryce and Trent are built to be everydown backs, but Cierre has 4 years to grow, and you cant teach speed. Besides he is up to 215 lbs now.
I don't see cierre at runningback, hes a prototypical slot wide reciever. I could be wrong but I think he would make more of an impact complimenting recievers michael Floyd and Golden Tate. that would be a lethal recieving core.
Couldnt disagree with you more. Charlie has an eye for talent. Remember all the sites saying Tate cant play WR. They were saying he was a RB or CB. Last I checked, he looks like a pretty good WR. Cierre isnt prototype true...but neither was Jerry Rice.....I believe they said Jerry was too slow. Plus they said Cierre runs high..umm so did Erick Dickerson, and so does Adrian Peterson
I saw him play against oaks christian he was crushed!! he's just small school talent.. class of 10' MALCOM JONES 4M O.C IS REAL TALENT, & YES CIERRE PLAYED AGAINST HORRIBLE SQUADS
this kid is a spectacular talent with great vision, that being said... my analysis is that he plays with his pads a little high which think will limit him to playing wide receiver in college. I also wonder what his ratio of touches to fumbles is, he just never looks comfortable with the ball in his hand as he is always switching his grip. I counted four times he switched his grip on one run.
Like i said earlier, the sky is the limit for this kid at receiver
Or, use D1 coaches to teach him!!! Most high school athletes at any level have things to improve on. It's high school, they are not perfect. Point is... its very fixable.
Everyone says this guy plays against crap competition but it is still SoCal, just a smaller school. Bryce Brown is from Kansas, which is`t really a talent pool. Terrell Pryor came out of Jeanette PA which i used to live right next to, and it is one of the smallest schools i have ever seen. I`m just saying just because he does`t play 5A schools does`t mean he sucks. 2, 600 yards rushing in a season is pretty gross. He had like 120 against Oaks Christian. You cant say they suck.
Saw another video of Bryce Brown with a better picture; w/ cutback runs where he looked better. There's a lot of space for him to run through in lots of the SI video which may have made me underestimate him a bit. Trent Richardson is still the most amazing I've seen, but this Brown may actually be the 2nd best I've seen.
Chris Whaley is another guy to check out he is 6'3 230 lbs. and ridiculously nimble for a guy his size. He could be a better college version of Brandon Jacobs.
Watch Trent Richardson. He cuts on a dime; he's unbelievable. He is ESPN's Scouting #1. Lemming is usually way better than ESPN & doesn't buy into hype as much, but ESPN got it right for once.
The competition Wood plays against isn't all that bad. Cali football in that area isn't terrible competition even in small school groups. It's a good football state so there are gonna be some small schools he plays with talent. This guy is a great blend of power, speed and makes great cuts & block reads.
I''d rank this guy #2 overall at RB after Trent Richardson. Funny thing is this guy is a lot like Tyler Gaffney; watch his highlights; you'll see similarities; Gaffney also plays in Cali, but Gaffney is way underhyped.
My top 6 H.S RBs in the nation so far: I still have a few top guys to watch: 1. Trent Richardson 2. Cierre Wood 3. Brandon Wegher 4. David Oku 5. Tyler Gaffney 6. Bryce Brown.
Top Over-hyped guys: Michael Ford and Bryce Brown as being #1.
I don't know, Notre Dame is my team, and I am willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but if you looked at those videos, he had some very active blockers on those sweeps. Everyone was blocking. I wouldn't know how to rank this guy because while he is very good at spotting the blocks, he always got the blocks.
yeah i know u keep on saying about the "jet sweep" but you dont ses many teams adjust to it. i know they are slow but you can adjut to things like that. Hes not going to be overrated because how athletic he is.
He is athletic and he doese have talent but most of his damage seems to be going to the outside and the defense's that they are playing against do not tackle or pursue well at all. He also seems to have a slight frame. He looks to be more of a DB/Return man than a full time RB. Another slight knock is more sneaky quick than fast. Definitely a talent but in no way a sure fire lock to be a star RB at the next level.
your absolutly right but thats the offense we ran. i know it was fun watching him play halfback but he is more of a lockdown defensive player. his defense is increadable because he is not afraid of contact. he told me charlie wies wants him to play RB though.
Wood Is Overrated ! Look at the type of teams they are playing. Yes he is talented but he gets these Jet sweeps with a convoy against teams with no speed or talent and he looks like God. He is the perfect case of the Big fish in a small pond. I would be shocked if he was a star at ND especially at RB. I think he probably ends up as a CB.
ND has a group of good backs.Ideally he will get redshirted, but I don't know if this type of talent is willing to wait a year to play. He has good speed, not Armando's 4.31, but they have way different running styles, he hits the hole like a bullet. I think James Aldridge will get some serious time next year too.I like Hughes but Aldridge has a combo of size and speed. Jonas Gray might get thrown into the mix as a sophomore also. That said Cierre can come in at DB WR RB and LB he's got skills.
I wish the ND offensive line would get their shit together. Hit the weight room, watch more film, whatever they need to do because once this kid gets there he will need room to operate.
ive seen this guy before, cuzz i played jv football and my school played this team with wood's team for varsity. BUT CIERRE WOOD IS GONNA BE THE NEXT REGGIE BUSH!
he looks pretty damn good. but i always notice the same thing... the level from HS to NCAA is a big leap. Lets hope he can utilize his speed & hands. This is the type of back I've been waiting for ND to go get.
my team is his first highlight on this tape and we beat them second round CIF with a team that only had 25 players.
