Ok, here's the deal. Brian is with Trace Adkins now. Jeff is a major financial player in Austin, Texas with insurance and investments. Tom is still drumming in and around Austin, Danny is doing the same, some with Rick Trevino. I think this video was off of an old 8mm shot at the American Legion in Beeville, Texas in 1978 by Manny Segovia. They used to play there a lot when than came back from playing Steamboat in Austin. Great Band!
I worked Spotlight for these guys back in the 70's at the old
"Ritz" Music Hall in Corpus Christi, Texas. They performed together with "Ten Years After." Just some of the greatest music coming out of that era.....
Great band. I used to play in a band with Brian Wooten called RATTLESNAKE back in the day in Beeville, Texas. He plays for Trace Adkins now. I write books, my latest is on George Strait. Again, great band.
tHEY DID GIGS AT THE OLD zODIAC Lounge San Antonio (I had a girlfriend who worked there. Worked the piss outta one small Boogie Amp.....I know it was in 1976. Just before I joined the USAF and kissed Alamo City goodbye.
was in a little place in Waco Texas, Jerimahs, on Valley Mills Drive.... about this same year.....wow...it seems like just yesterday.........AND???? they still suck.
Great band. They had everything, great vocals, great guitars and a great look. They sounded fantasic live too. They should have been famous. The only thing missing was just that one hit song.
I remember Phoenix, Stump, Too Smooth and love em to this day-they played for me the night i got married-you guys remember the outdoor gig at the Anderson's house in Tarrytown? Jeff or Gavin, please e-mail mail me, deb kanetzky
Brian Wooten is an awesome guitar player! I used to watch him at the 19th hole in Beeville Texas while bartending... He played with a band called Rattlesnake... Wish I could find video of them!
Yes I knew Manuel as well. I spoke to Brian last time Trace was in town and he looked well. There was a bass player for Christopher Cross and he'd show up at the 19th hole from time to time. When he played with Rattlesnake it gave them a different energy that was really good.
One of my fond memories was when Brian let me play he strat with the echoplex! :=)
TOO good and TOO bad they didn't get the break they deserved!! Best band of the 70's here. You walked into a club and they had the place packed, dancing or standing. I loved them! If you read this Tommy I drove a 442, had a pool table and an attic bedroom. I would love to hear from you.
Classic! Can't wait for the DVD project. We're so starved for good music today, wouldn't it be great if these guys could find national appeal now? I would certain invest in Too Smooth stock if it went public- ha.

The Whiskey Box was on Greenville Ave at the intersection with Lover's Lane. Kind of a shotgun room that was very smoky.
