It's clear this story leave a lot of Nigerians feeling positive about the country, and given the past failures of Nigeria, who can blame them? The truth however is that the economic and social climate in Nigeria is still very poor, and talking to a handful of people who have returned doesn't change that reality. Most Nigerians would happily work in the West any day if given the opportunity.
Ripple effects of corruption by governments, excessive outside influence through orchestration of coups, economic hand twisting...list goes on. If these things don't stop we stand to lose much more.
At the end they say" the west's brain drain is africa's brain drain". I don't know what they are trying to implying by that. It is Africans going back to Africa, not Westerners. Well, remember, Africa's brain drain was also the West's Brain gain.
Anyway, I am proud of Nigerians. They are doing well. They are setting a good model for the rest of the continent.

Nigeria needs to have an 'infrastructure gain' to go along with its 'brain gain'...Although there is a sharp increase of people returning to Nigeria from Europe and The Americas, it seems like Nigeria's infrastructure is having difficulty keeping up...Nigeria needs better highway systems, better hospitals/medical facilities, a much better power grid, better schools and more opportunities for its people.........

As for being the most well educated, that may be another illusion created by their large numbers. Of course I won't deny there are other Africans who do not care too much for education, but there may also be a cultural element to that. Africans from countries that were formerly British colonies seem to love school, don't know why.
Yea but how does that help their own people? I'm selfless, i rather be poor and know that i made a difference in another person's life than be rich and know that i didn't do ish. i'm not sayign all Nigerians aboard should return but those that can help the ordinary, poor ridden nigerians at home should return such as Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, etc. Someone hae to make an effort to improve that country therefore there won't be any need to migrate.

The difference between Nigeria and the USA is that Nigeria doesn't have a gargantuan defense budget, doesn't waste money subsidize teenage pregnancy, and doesn't have a huge prison budget.
The bad thing about African business is that it's a byzantine process to get the license. You have to either bribe your way into everything or do stuff without the license.

As for being the most well educated, that may be another illusion created by their large numbers. Of course I won't deny there are other Africans who do not care too much for education, but there may also be a cultural element to that. Africans from countries that were formerly British colonies seem to love school, don't know why.
