  • Instead of these safety protocals for stupid people why don't we just keep them of the road. It would save tax money and save lives too. Are they going to put these on every single road? If not i think it's more likely that these are for accidents on accident prone highways. Not weather. The major roads are always better in snow storms. They get plowed first and the higher volume of traffic helps out too.

  • @KB9NLL The original news report (which were removed from the CBS website within 2 days) claimed they were for "inclement weather," thats the official story.

  • I was just wondering when was the last time wisconsin closed a highway due to weather? I understand out west in the mountains but there are no mountains in wisconsin. If the weather in winter is so bad why is it illegal to use studded tires or chains? Out west studs, chains or fourwheel drive are required before a road is actually closed.

    -just thinking logistics, not politics.

  • So we will go with that because I'm not sure what other right you are implying. So under your speculation they will decide to shut down major highways (1) when? (2) Why (3) How often?

I think you fail to understand that people need to go to work. If people are not at work then the gov isn't making any money.

  • Stop making stupid people even more paranoid.

  • You are paranoid as all hell and people love conspiracies. People speculating these are taking away "rights" confused on what right you have. I did not know that people had the right to do non-safe behaviors and endanger themselves because they lack knowledge of weather or their surroundings. So what right are they taking away? So if they are taking away a right it must surely be the right for... freedom?

  • This is just plain stupid. They have these gates all over the west. They're nothing more than snow gates. Look at Flagstaff, AZ, they've had the same gates there (actually even a little more secure than those flimsy gates in the vid) for many years. Lockdown gates indeed! Jeez, things are bad enough without this kind of crap being circulated.

  • @Desertscout1

This guy is a moron. I'm stating he's a moron because he wants people to believe that the gov is taking away our freedom because they are installing safety protocols on our hwys to protect people whom cant make smart choices. So its a device that can prevent traffic from going on a major hwy. So I could argue that a policeman standing on the corner directing traffic when an accident/severe weather is just as evil as this device. God we are all just stupid. Thank you master.

  • It Should Be Their Choice Alright, However People Are Stupid, And Then Somebody Always has to Go Out and Rescue Them. How Bout We Start Making People Be Responsible Again and Stop Relying on Gooberment to Dictate to Them, But Also Not Expect Government to be Their Babysitter Either. If Ya Get Stuck in a Flooded Water Zone and Washed Away, Tough Fking Shit, You Drove Into It Right. same with Blizzards or Snow, Stay Ur Ass At Home or Get Forze, and Let the Firemen ,EMS and Police go Watch the Game

  • We are the frogs in slowly warming water. Who knows when it will start to boil and we no longer will have the ability to jump out.

  • This may be the case as you say.

I know they have been around for along time and have been caught several times by them when traveling up north where they have them at

  • @Smithajs13 If you choose to buy the nonsense that the media tries to sell regarding this issue, thats your choice. Just like it should be an individual's choice if they want to brave the inclement weather. Aside from that, history shows what oppressive governments end up using things like this for.

  • That cheap pole won't stop me and my explorer. BOOM

  • I TOTALLY agree! But, one thing you forgot were school zones and speed limits. I have the right to go whatever speed I want, in whatever conditions I want! SPEED LIMITS ARE TAKING AWAY OUR FREEDOMS!

  • Why are you wearing gay sunglasses ? I'm sure you're going to get hired by a major TV outlet after this stellar investigative report. Loser.

  • Dude! It's not just incoming weather! I was traveling through St Louis recently on I-44. They had to bring MO DOT trucks with flashing signals and road blocks to lock down each on-ramp and direct people off the hwy onto the detour.

THEY WERE NOT TAKING AWAY THE RIGHT TO TRAVEL! There had simply been a HUGE accident involving a semi and some cars, killed a couple people etc...This was an accident that BLOCKED some of the highway so they had to LOCKDOWN a 3-5 Miles stretch of the hwy!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for sharing!

  • In Dallas, along the major freeways they're concreting up any exit that is grass or dirt. All of the freeways are basically being walled in.

  • Well, they can't play the lockdown game down here in Florida. They have other very nefarious games they are playiing with us, such as murder by tazer and death brought on by torture in their restraining chairs. 3 people have died in ours this year. I got that info from an attorney, who is representing the families in the wrongful death lawsuits that are being made.

  • We have the same thing. And yes, that's what they told us. There was a hurricane (that um, missed us) that they made all of Savannah evacuate about 10 years ago. They went up right after that.

  • Nice job Mark, I couldn't agree more!

  • They are for shutting down roads due to weather. If these were in Texas or Florida then I would be worried but WI? There are better things to be paranoid about.

  • we've had these in virginia for decades, yes decades. they are also in other states. in a real crisis almost any car could bust right through them.

  • @33rdPatriot

I don't recall seeing anything like those when I was stationed in Virginia. I left in late 1994...... So, "decades"?? I don't think so.

  • @BigSailorRobT Gates have been on Dulles Airport toll road in NOVA, probably since it was built. Any car could bust right through these things. I agree w/ other poster -- there are bigger things to be worried about. These gates are nuisance and would pose no real obstacle in any serious emergency.

  • @33rdPatriot:

I won't disagree that we have much bigger things to worry about. Closing off roadways to protect people from being "stupid" is just sheer lunacy. People WILL find a way around barriers if not just crash right through them. It does seem as if the Government is trying to control just a little too much.

  • Train crossings have more secure gates than that lol

Lockdown gate? It's a boom dude...

  • @PeteGeek

I am referring to them using the exact terminology that the news outlet used when they reported it. Our local CBS did a quick piece on them and within a couple days the report was pulled offline. They were the only network to even report the story. Pretty disgusting.

  • Also, train crossings don't have more secure gates than that. That is exactly what our city has for train crossing gates. If anything, the highway gates are stronger than train crossing gates due to the fact that ones they just put on our highways are brand new and are made of stronger material than the older, thinner, and usually wooden, train crossing gates.

  • i think that the same people that are against these gates are FOR random searches of people of middle eastern decent....the gov. is playing to our fears, and like a magition getting us to watch his beautiful assistant, they're robbing us blind while our attention is mis-directed...

  • @nightelfdruid24

Why would we be for random searches of anyone? That's crazy. We Are Change is an organization dedicated to social justice, non-violence, equality, and liberty. Unless you mis-typed what you were trying to say.

The gov't plays on our fears, yes. But I feel that doing this report was absolutely necessary. One single news outlet covered it and within a few days the story was pulled offline. Obviously its something they are trying to keep quiet.

  • great job!

    watch

    police state 4

    infowarsdotcom

  • Thanks. But Alex Jones is dirty as hell. That film has more inaccuracies, exaggerations, and fear-mongering than most of his other films, which are bad enough. I was stuck on Jones for over 4 years. Then I really started thinking about why he never covers certain topics/info that is vital to this research. I found out about what he pulled on Y2K, and his connections to the Council for National Policy, the Knights of Malta, etc. Start looking into that stuff. Jones is the next Rush Limbaugh.

  • they have these all over wyoming and allover the midwest, I have only seen them down when there is a very nasty snowstorm or if there was a bad accident, I do agree if people want to put their life in danger let them, the LAW has no clue why we need to use the roads we pay for, atleast in WI and WY there are no tolls to go down the road.
