  • I think this is a great discovery because both diseases presented (multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis) are very uncomfortable to live with, not to mention degenerative. Hopefully soon the combine of T cells and blockade of leptin will be a reality and patients can improve their health. At Symposier site there is more information for physicians interested on Rheumatoid Arthritis and other medical topics.

  • interesting angle on how the body self regulates itself...immunology is very interesting, especially how it is combined wtih stem cells in these videos

  • another

    great

    scietnific discussion

  • excellent video Tommy

  • yes but leptin causes weight-loss, so you may not want to give it to cancer patients since it may accelerate cachexia

  • thats why you would use the leptin in a post surgical setting BEFORE the patient becomes cacketic

  • Interesting that hormones can produce such effects. I was unfamiliar with leptin, although now that i think about it, I think i remember the company Amylin here in town was working on using this as an anti-obesity drug. Maybe this is a brand new use for leptin ! to stop these T regulatory cells in patients who have cancer or where you actually want to stope the t regulatory cell attack
