  • i just finished this book and iv herd about stories simalire and i realy like her books right now im reading twisted its kinda the same but i really love her righting do any of you know if she has a youtube account

  • In the book, Melinda is described as having auburn hair, black eyebrows, and muddy brown eyes, Laurie fits all of these characteristics. She is more than just an author of teen's tales in highschool, she describes pain like no other can. The one and only kind of pain that silents you, humiliates you, and never leaves you alone. I was raped by my best friend when I was 13 for a long time I didn't have a voice, this book has given me my voice. You are my hero Laurie.

  • Laurie, you touch corners of my heart that I thought weren't vulnerable.. Your books saved my life.

  • God. trying as hard as I can to not cry. This is really touching.

  • Laurie, I am so proud of you and your book, SPEAK. . Silence is a terrible thing for all who have been raped, abused and made to feel "less than". Today is the first time I have heard your poem. I have tears,

  • OMG i want this poem so bad!!! GREATEST POEM EVER!!!

  • I cried after reading the comments and then listening to the poem.

    Beautiful.

    Just heartrendingly beautiful.

  • Sad. I've never been raped, but I have been Outcast. I could relate more to Wintergirls (I'm not, and I've never been anorexic but at certain points in my life I could seriously relate to it).

  • wow. this is tragically beautiful.

  • Amazing. I cried, too. And I cried to this poem. Amazing.

  • Great author. In my opinion, she's better than overrated Sarah Dessen. Her writing is boring, silly and just mainly writes about moody teens.Laurie writes about real issues and history.

  • I LOVEE her.

  • I love the way she writes. Speak, Twisted, Wintergirls and now this poem, she is great. Btw I think I would have cried if I got letters like that

  • makes me cry everytime.

i hate how people dont like this book. it's because tey dont understand it.

My friends were like i dont like it,i dont get it. dude she got raped and shes having trouble dealing with it she lost all her friends she cuts.... how do u not understand that. am i the only person in my town with feelings?hahah jk(:i love laurie she speaks the truth(:she shows that these things really do happen and they can be fixed be urself again(:

  • wow. it's amazing how much pain can be bottled in one poem.

    this is so powerful.

  • This is the most inspirational poem and book ever, the best story ever, so wonderful, and beautiful, a true story.

  • Best book ever!!!!!!!!

    Thank you Laurie Halse Anderson!

  • Oh gosh, this made me cry. I read the book some time last year, it was absoloutly amazing! I live in the U.K so not many people here have read this book, but I thought it was fantastic. x

  • I want to get speak I've read about it and read the poem before. I'm getting wintergirls today. Im so happy to finally get to read one of her books, I've just been reading the samples/previews online. They all feel like me, expecially speak and wintergirls.

I wish I was dead but Im safe in books.

I almost got speak and wintergirls before but I was scared. I want to read those books but...its just scarey you know?

  • speak is one of the few books that really brought me to tears,

    I loved it!!

  • @WordsCanOnlyDoHarm

I read SPEAK for school and it made me physically sick, not in a bad way...well yes in a bad way, I mean like...I felt Malinda's pain...

When IT was behind her, twirling her ponytail and she got up to puke I felt it...is it strange? It was a great book, one of the few that brought me in and smacked me everytime I didn't have my nose in it. Haha.

  • This woman is amazing.

She writes characters that I really recognize. They feel feelings that I recognize, that I've battled with, that so many of us have battled with. I wish I could hug her and thank her thank her thank her for giving us all the gift of her writing, her stories.

  • wow. thank you so much for posting this.x

  • Wow. Just wow. I love how much this book has meant to people. Stories like this need to be told. This is the proof.

  • You are exactly right, in my opinion

  • when i first read the book

    i don't get it

but when i read in the second time i just loooooooove it!
