  • I'm thinking of driving to Scotland at the beginning of April and climbing Ben Nevis...any tips?

  • @londontrialscat It depends on your experience. If you are novice, take the same route I did, pack warm clothes, food and drink and expect 6-8 hours. :o)

  • @Henllan Thank you for the reply. I have some experience in rock climbing and I walk about 10 miles a day at work so I am pretty fit.

  • Me and hubby did BN back in oct. The weather was crap. It took us 3.5 hrs going up. I was knackered (hubby wouldn't rest much). Going down was far worse, it took 2 hrs I was in agony with my toes. I wanted to rest, but hubby wouldn't let me, lol, (hes a Royal Marine). I have since lost both my toenails. Every time I look at them is a reminder of that day. Would I do it again? HELL YES. it was amazing!!!!

  • pretty lucky, climbed the other day and there was cloud at like 2500 ft, about the 2.30 min mark

  • beautiful acomplished ,i took a rock from the summit i hold it everytime i feel negative , feel the energy from the highest point in uk , great acheivment ,what a lovely country im going back next year , killer coming down though scotland i love you xx

  • nice video, thx

  • I take it the "small enchanting stream" isn't referring to the redbirn/redburn however you spell it? :P

  • been there, done that, got the sticker :) It's fun. i like seeing the cloud floating around from above.

  • I heard somewhere that Ben Navis was a haunted place for a long time.

  • Is Ben Nevis the highest mountain in whole Britain?

  • @Schmok66 Yes it is :o)

  • @Henllan Thank you for the information :) and in which part of Britain is it located?

  • @Schmok66 The nearest town/village is "Fort William" in the highlands of Scotland - near the top of the British Isles :o)

  • @Henllan Ohh,um, do you go there often?

  • @Schmok66 Only once. It is a long distance from where I live. There are a number of routes up and I may yet return :o)

  • @Henllan If you would return, which year did you think of?

  • @Schmok66 Hum, I have no idea .... I try to keep exploring new places. Currently I am enjoying the underworld :o)

  • @Henllan Wow :D It sounds very exciting! I saw you make trips into caves. How deep could you penetrate as an amateur?

  • @Schmok66 Several hundred metres but I am also a member of a club :o)

  • @Henllan oh, so you are a skilled " caveman" :D I would be kind of scared in narrow tunnels. I would be afraid of never going back due to a collapse.

  • just did this to raise money for Great Ormond Street charity, 'twas great :o)

  • im 13 and it took me 6 hrs

  • hi, i am only 14, nearly 15 but am doing the 3 peaks challenge (snowdon, scaelfel and ben nevis) have climbed snowdon 4 times, scarfel once, and went on a trek to breacon becons. we are doing the challenge in june, and i am currently doing training, 40 minutes of jogging a day, is there anything you could recommend?

  • im climbing ben nevis september 21st..will it be cold at this time ? cant wait :)))

  • took me and my cousin just over 6 hours to complete this, back when i wasnt so "bulky" haha

  • I just did it yesterday, it was amazing, 3 and a half hours up, 3 hours down, the weather couldn't have been better, its very hard on the legs at times but it is definitely worth it. If you ever get the chance, do it, it really is a mind blowing experience and the scenery is just the definition of beautiful. Hopefully I can do it again soon. Great video man, really shows it well.

  • I climbed it last week...... 4 and half hours up 3 hours down , very hard on the legs but fantastically worth the pain !

  • I really enjoyed your video. My son and I will be coming up from Southampton in August to climb. Thank you very much for making us even more excited !

  • I did Ben Nevis in 2009. It's 5 miles up and 5 miles down, took us just under 7 hours. You can get a bus from Fort William to the Visitor's Center at the start of the climb

  • my brother will be climbing this soon, how long does it take to defeat this monster?

  • @The2pacRemixChannel 6-8 hours depending on your pace (assume 8)

  • @Henllan is that 8 hours, up and down or ?

  • i ve slept at the top in a tent, doing it again soon.

  • Lovely video. I really enjoyed watching it. We've done Nevis a few times now. We only live about 2 hours away from it, so are driving up to climb it again in 3 weeks time! Just hoping the rain and wind die-down a little for the day of our climb!

  • im staying in fort william in the summer n want 2 climb ben nevis. don't have car. what's transport like from fort william to start of route?

  • @1983honey I am not sure there is any public transport to the base - however, there is a pub at the foot and you could get a taxi to and from it :o)

  • @Henllan thank u

  • really good video!

  • I climbed it in the summer of 2009, great achievement. brought back a rock from the very top thats sitting in my room right now.

  • i wish to go there some day

  • @goldchrist1 make it happen my friend, if we dont make the time we dont get the time, this life of ours is so very short,do it and keep it you will always be glad you did :)

  • @SuperRichierich69 Thanks mate....maybe soon ;-)

  • Ian, is that the North Face @ 7:15?

  • @philosoful Helen is stood just South of the trig point and is facing due South :o)

  • well done guys!

Check out the video of Essex band Kings Cross climing Ben Nevis, with full electric drums and generator on backs! youtube.com/watch?v=-eNpe67CEDM

  • Nice video! I climbed Ben Nevis in July this year, but from about halfway the climb the fog took all over the view, unfortunately :( You must have been lucky, I read that the chances for a clear view at the top are quite few.

  • I would absolutely , love to climb ben nevis it is my absolute dream

  • @SupHowsItGoing

Then go make it happen! I drove there from the South East this year and it was utterly brilliant... Though these guys are quite lucky to have such clear weather, s'brilliant!

  • Nice VId, Try camping at the lake overnight ( this avoids the midges!) then climbing PT II early - really early the next morning May is best - I put a short vid of the summit up.

  • A great video, very well done, you look like a bit of a pro, but how do you know what its like on mars?

  • Comment removed

  • try climbing in Holland, it's rubbish

  • @petsounds hahahaha love it :P

  • Have you guys ever climbed Goat Fell?

  • I relaly liked your video it was great fun!! thanks.. :-)

  • i did it on 29th of june :) had 2 recover for a week haha it was my 1st ever climb

  • good video mate a done it on 31st of may n the peak was covered in snow n we could hardly see ! will definitely do again sometime soon :)

  • did the ben on 19th of june 2010 fantastic climb and will definitely be back

  • great video, Helen was a bit brave standing on the edge of the North face there. Fair play not sure id stand there so confidently. Did it a couple of years ago in a hurried passing as a part of the 3 peaks challenge, be back up there with a more leisurely style in 2 weeks time, hope we get a day like you had looked beautiful.

  • probly the best home made vid ive seen on youtube well done mate

  • me and my girlfriend have just done snowdon for the second time. nevis is next, cant wait

  • I walked that mountain on the 26 Sept 09 after failing to complete it on the 29 Aug due to being cold. I felt guilty that I dragged my husband off it before completing so we went back a month later and did it. I was misty and we had an inverted view with blue sky one minute then dark foreboding mist the next on the summit. I recommend it to all because it truly is a wonderful place

  • Amazing!

  • Nice one mate. planning to do this in June so this has given me a quick look at what's involved. hope the weather is as clear as you had.

  • Why is the observatory left in ruin?

  • Fantastic !!! "The Ben" has to be the most romantic place in the world !! I proposed to my wife there

  • Beautiful Place, I will have to go there!! Excellent Film exciting to watch.
