  • I think Meryl had a much better shot at winning for Julie And Julia then for Doubt, due to sentiment being much stronger for her, but that wasn't enough to beat Sandra Bullock (Why did she win?). I think Anne Hathaway should have won this year, but I see why she didn't. The film just wasn't liked by a lot of people, including the Academy, unfortunately.

  • Ugh I hate how Forrest talks!

  • When Kate Winslet got up for Best Actress in "The Reader", it was over for Meryl Streep. Hopefully this year will be different and she'll win for "Julie & Julia". But Sandra Bullock poses a major threat.

  • Woo, I would totally fuck Dalton Ross.

  • did anyone post the oscar's, i don't have a tv??

  • is anyone gonna record it and put it on youtube

    it isnt shown in iceland:(

  • i REALLY hope heath ledger wins the oscar, i mean common he was soo good!!!

  • As far as I heard, he did win (don't have a tv here, but some classmates of mine were watching it ;) )

  • I hereby nominate Clint Eastwood.

  • 'Tropic of Thunder' aha

  • That's what I thought

  • Slumdog Millionare is the most overrated movie of 2008. Wow a slumdog wins 10 million rupees, big woop. In my book, Either Milk or Benjamin Button should win.

  • its 20 u idiot go watch the movie first then comment

  • cant beleive they nominate the dad from step brothers over clint eastwood.

  • Tropic thunder! Hell yea great movie!!! And i must see the curious case of bla bla bla and slumdog millionare.

  • milk better win best picture

  • I know Brad Pitt won;'t win but DAMN he blew me away in Curious Case of Benjamin Button

  • it got 8.

  • slumdog will bag maximum awrds.....best film,director,original song,score...etc

    rahman rocks

  • And, uh, why the hell are the nominations so dull?

  • why is it dull? this isn't MTV movie awards

  • Robert doesn't hold a candle up to Heath (still a great actor, but no, TT does not beat TDK). And no nomination for TDK?! Slumdog Millionaire? Really?!

  • 1. Best Picture - Milk 2. Best Director - Gus van Sant, I guess 3. Best Actor - Sean Penn 4. Best Actress - Kate Winslet 5. Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger 6. Best Supporting Actress - Penelope Cruz 7. Best Animated Film - WALL-E 8. Best Foreign Language Film - The Class 9. Art direction & Make-up - B.B. 10. Cinematography - The Dark Knight 11. Music score - The Dark Knight (but probably Slumdog will win -_-) 12. Movie/sound editing, special effects etc - The Dark Knight
  • I just saw The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, and it damn well deserves to win Best Picture! Ten times better than Slumdog Millionaire.

  • I really hope Heath Ledger wins =D

  • Even though I did not like "The Dark Knight" as a film, because of its overcomplex script, of which came too heavy movie, thus there is no nomination for it, I still think that what Heath Ledger did with the role of Joker is outstanding. A certain Oscar for him.

    Regards

  • My Predictions are:

Best Picture: Slumdog or maybe Milk

Best Actress: Kate Winslet The reader.

Best Actor; It will be close between Sean Penn for Milk or mickey Rourke for the wrestler.

5-HEATH i think we all now you are going to win supporting actor

6- again really dont miss tear this heart out it is a GREAT film the Best

  • Where the fuck is The Dark Knight?! Easily the best film of the year. I think its been snuffed just for being a comic book film and isnt taken seriously enough.

  • i hope Robert Downey junior gets the Award, but I also think that it will be Ledger...

  • Who's gonna win Taraji P. Henson or Viola Davis???

    i have no idea!!!!

  • were the is Gran Torino on this list WTF, that is a good movie, You have to see it its awesome, atleast nominate that movie for best original screenplay, maybe Clint Eastwood is too good for the Oscars

  • meryl to win!

  • Aaron Eckhart was robbed. Two-Face was better than The Joker

  • Slumdog Millionaire is going to be the big winner this year

  • I really thought Leo di Caprio were going to be nominated! He played soooo well!! :(

  • My pics: (this is who I think SHOULD win--and maybe will) Best Original Screenplay : Dustin Lance Black Best adapted screenplay: David Hare-The Reader Best animated film: WALL-E Foreign film: Waltz with bashir Best Actor in supporting role: Heath Ledger Best Actress in supporting role: Viola Davis or Marisa Tomei--I am torn Best Actor: Mickey Rourke Best actress: Kate Winslet Best Director: Danny Boyle Best film: Slumdog MIllionaire
  • What a disgusting lineup you have.

  • i'd bet Robert Downey Jr. to be a best actor in a supporting role. hah!

  • i really want him to win but its goin to heath

  • My predictions are Best Original Screenplay : In bruges, martin mcdonagh Best adapted screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire, Simon Beaufoy Best animated film: WALL-E Foreign film: Waltz with bashir Best Actor in supporting role: Heath Ledger Best Actress in supporting role: Marisa Tomei Best Actor: Mickey Rourke Best actress: Angelina Jolie. Best Director: Danny Boyle Best film: Slumdog MIllionaire
  • I hope Brad Pitt dan Kate Winslet win the oscars. Go Brad and Kate!!!

  • I can not tell you that I am upset that "The Dark Knight" was not for best picture or best director, Chris Nolan! :(

  • My Picks: Best supporting Actress: Taraji P. Henson Best supporting Actor: Heath Ledger Best Actress: I'm not sure, but I don't think it will go to either Angelina Jolie or Anne Hathaway. Best Actor: Sean Penn or Mickey Rourke (Maybe Brad Pitt). Best Director: Gus Van Sant. Original Screen Play: Dustin Lance Black Adapted Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy or Eric Roth and Robin Swicord. Best Foreign Film: Waltz With Bashir Best Animated Film: Wall-E (100% sure of this one). Best Picture: Milk
  • lol

  • I'm so disappointed that Leo didn't get nominated, now i have to wait until next year or even several years until he gets an oscar

  • Does anyone know where I can watch free streaming of the academy awards live online on February 22nd.

  • when heath ledger's name was announced i cried for three hours...

  • Get a life.

  • Baader Meinhof Complex !!! yeah :D

  • PICTURE for TDK is a great choice but as we know, academy won't but THE READER killed TDK for director and killed wrestler and doubt. OMG! THE READER was not good at all!

  • Hey dumbass, The Reader was better than that dumbass comic book film, so shut the hell up.

  • Sorry but the reader was just some stupid ass lame excuse to not nominate the dark knight for best picture

  • WTH. Dark knight is not nominated for Best Picture or Best Director ?!?! That movie blew my mind away...lol...

  • yeah it was a snub Christopher Nolan at least deserved a nomination for best director, the dark knight was an amazing movie.

  • Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire 99.9%

    Best Actor: Mickey Rourke 99.9%

Best Actress: (Kate Winslet or Angelina Jolie) but Kate Winslet her film nominated for best picture may be this help her to get her win

Best Supporting Actor: (Robert Downey Jr. or Heath Ledger) Robert Downey closer

Best Supporting Actress: Penelope cruz 99.9%

    Best Director: Danny Boyle 99.9%

  • Peneople SUCKED.

    Viola will win.

  • Hope Clint Eastwood get an oscar. He deseves it one last time. A great actor. join my club to see shocking video's. "NEW" strip club phoneline VIP!!!

  • Fincher should have been nominated a year ago for Zodiac. The film itself, as well.

  • This is stupid why can't it be The Wrestler and The Dark Knight up for Best Picture other than Milk and Benjamin Button. For me milk is an ok film and the plot for benjamin button is stupid I think TDK is the best film of the year and I said wrestler because all the hype over micky rourke's performance (and 98% on rottentomatoes btw).

  • Although the Dark Knight and the Wrestler did get snubbed don't base your opinion on Rotten Tomatoes. If you do then your saying the best movie ever is Toy Story 2. Check it. Oh and don't get mad at Milk or Button. Get mad at the Reader.

  • I just picked Wrestler at random to be honest I was just complaining more about TDK not getting any major reward nominations. Oh and I haven't seen The Reader yet so that's why I said Milk and Button.

  • I thought Milk was a great movie. Sean Penn was EPIC.

  • best supporting acttress viola davis!!!

    best actress MERYL STREEEP ^^

  • Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

Best Director: Danny Boyle (Maybe David Fincher

Best Actor: Mickey Rourke (Most Deserving)

Best Actress: Kate Winslet (Most Deserving)

Best Surporting Actress: Penelope Cruz (Most Deserving but I'll accept Viola Davis)

Best Surporting Actor: Heath Ledger (NO CONTEST)

  • My Predictions:

Supp. Actress- Penelope Cruz(even though I don't want her to win)

    Supp. Actor: Heath Ledger

    Actress: Kate Winslet (SHE BETTER)

Actor: Frank Langella OR Sean Penn

    Director: Danny Boyle

    Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

  • Meryl Streep+ Best Actress=Doubt

  • i am so thrilled to have Wall-e be nominated for 2 academy awards. i hope it wins both. that is an amazing movie.

  • It was actually nominated for six.

  • oh my god really? that's amazing! it deserved them for sure.

  • BOLT! MILEY ROX

  • Where the hell is gran torino?! Clint Eastwood should have been nominated for best actor, disappointing, benjamin button shouldnt even be there

  • Correction, Eastwood should be their in place of Richard Jenkins.

  • Mickey Rourke for Best Actor

    Kate Winslet for best Actress

Philip Seymour Hoffman for best Supporting Actor

And Taraji P. Henson for best Supporting Actress

  • What about Heath Ledger?

  • hey how abt best song $ score.... Any Predictions?????

  • how in the fuking world does the dark knight not get nominated for big awards, such as best picture, when it was the biggest box office hit of the whole year the oscars suk ass now they give awards to movies that ive nvr even heard of

  • what about revolutionary road kate should have been nominated for that one

  • Fucking Benjamin Button.

You can really tell that Pitt wants an oscar. Next year, he's going to play a homosexual wrestler who is an ex-priest who might have molested a child.

Oh, and he has a scene with Meryl Streep somewhere in the movie....and the ghost of Marlon Brando

  • Doubt should have gotten that last slot for Best Picture. Hoffman should win Best Supporting Actor, but it's gonna go to Ledger.

  • i hope it goes to robert downey jr

  • Sorry but even though he was funny, Heath Ledger is gonna take home the award. Its no exaggeration to say that his performance in The Dark Knight will be remembered for decades to come.

  • Neither of them is gonna win, they were both to fuckin good, they'll give it to someone stupid like mike shannon or josh brolin

  • Every year their is atleast one performance that just about any acting award it can. Probably the best examples in recent years is Phillip Seymore Hoffman in Capote and Daniel Day Lewis for There Will Be Blood. Ledger will win. Put money on it.

  • Malvegil93, don't forget Helen Mirren in The Queen!

The only way I'll worry about Heath Ledger losing the Oscar is if he loses the BAFTA.

  • If they even thought it was that Jack Nicholson Joker warrented a nomination, than there's not a chance in hell that Ledger Joker won't win it.

  • Toby Jones does a better performance as Truman Capote than hoffman trust me, get Infamous on dvd, you will be blown away.

Day-lewis, no one was going to beat him.

Ledger will win because of his untimely death, but if that wasn't the case, Downey Jr.

  • hahaha, stupid.

Too bad they both are more deserving.

  • YEAH WALL-E!!!!

  • Benjamin Button is so overated, Pitt has ruined so many potentially good films for me with his one trick pony acting.

i think Mickey Rourke should win best actor

  • why is leonardo dicaprio not nominated for his role in revolutionary road???

  • It came down to him Clint Eastwood and Richard Jenkins. Clint Eastwood was more deserving since its most likely his last acting role ever.

  • Eastwood will never be as good an actor as he is a director.

  • Supporting Actress: Penelope cruz :D

  • rourke deserves the oscar

  • Best Picture=Slumdog-Millionaire

    Best-Actor=Mickey-Rourke

    Best-Actress=Kate-Winslet

    Best-Supp.Actor=Heath-Ledger

    Best-Supp.Actress=Penelope-Cruz

    Mark-my-words!!!!!!

  • Picture: SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

    directing: Danny Boyle

    Actor: Sean Penn - Milk

Actress: Kate Winslet - The Reader

    Original Screenplay: In Bruges

    Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire

    Animated Picture: Wall*E

    Waltz with Bashir (Israel)

  • I love Robert Downey Jr, I'm so happy he got a nomination for his role in Tropic Thunder. He did a great job and it's good that the Academy recognizes a comedic performance.

    =)

  • I actually did see the wrestler today Mickey was really good and im happy he was nominated but I still feel that sean penn will win, but we will see wat happens on oscar night.

  • Gran Torino was robbed

  • a great best actor line up would be sean penn, mickey rourke, leonardo dicaprio, brad pitt and clint eastwood.. best picture instead of the reader/revolutionary road, and instead of (the terrible boring overrated) frost/nixon / Gran Torino... obviously instead of daldry i would put eastwood...

  • Supporting actress : Amy Adams " actor : Heath Ledger

Leading actress : Kate Winslet (I Hope ! Althought I love Meryl Streep too)

Leading actor : Sean Penn (I hooope !!)

    Directing : Danny boyle

Best film : The curious case of benjamin button

  • simply Streep...(L)

  • it's great that the German "Bader Meinhof Komplex" has got a run on the trophy. The topic of the film was a very important part of German history, and I'm glad that this extraordinary film got nominated. Watch it - it's amazing. Also for non-German viewers.

  • Penelope DESERVES the oscar for best supporting, since she plays an awesome crazy-woman-role in VCB

  • film- slumdog millionaire

    director-Boyle

    actor-Penn for Milk

    actress-Winslet or Streep

    supporting actress- Penelope Cruz

    supporting actor-robert downey jr

I would love Winslte to win but something tells me that Streep is going to be the honored

  • Dude, LEdger is gonna win, that´s the only safe bet. Picture: you never know in the oscars, they do not necessarily award the best film.

  • If I were in charge:

Best Picture - The Dark Knight

    Best Actor - Mickey Rourke

    Best Actress - Kate Winslet

Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger

Best Supporting Actress - Marisa Tomei

Best Song - Bruce Springsteen (The Wretsler)

Meryl Streep is nominated for best actress for the millionth time, and The Dark Knight isn't even a nominee. Angelina Jolie is a nominee for best actress, and Leo DiCaprio isn't up for best actor

Hopefully The Wrestler or Frost/Nixon win best Picture.

  • nice list

  • Winslet should have been nominated for revolutionary road aswell as the reader!

  • I know! promoting her to lead actress speaks well of her performance but I think it might end up playing against her, cause she's in a tougher category now

  • Or, it could really work in her favor, sort of doubling her chances. They may well vote for her for both Revolutionary Road and The Reader. Meryl deserves it too, but I don't see anyone giving her extra kudos for Mamma Mia ;)

  • What about Leonardo DiCaprio???!!!

I can't understand why the Academy deny him the award every fucking year!

And what about Kate Winslet? She deserves both nominations for "The Reader" (as a supporting actress) and "Revolutionary Road" (as a leading actress), and she only got one...

And the worst? Penelope Cruz... I'm sorry, but I don't understand why people loves her...!

  • Why not? She's a great actress.

  • what the fuck, no leonardo dicaprio? shit

  • I agree with you!

  • fuck the acadamy awards, really fuck 'em. i won't watch a silly award program which doesn't include LEONARDO DICAPRIO( the best actor ever) as a nominee. fuck oscar

  • I say my predictions are: supporting actress: Tomei supporting actor: Ledger Actress: Winslet Actor: Rourke original screenplay: Wall-E adapted screenplay: Simon Beaufoy Animated: Wall-E Foreign: Waltz with Bashir Director: Boyale best picture: Slumdog millionaire notable misses i think were the visitor, the wrestler, and gran torino. The dark knight doesn't deserve anything else because in my opinion it is grossly overrated. Memento was nolans best film and deserved more noms back in 2000
  • no Gran Torino ?? no Dark Knight ??

    WTF ??????

fuckin politics of hollywood fucked up the movies !!!

  • No fucking Christopher Nolan?? It was an impressive directing job.

  • There are some good nominees, but overall these are quite disappointing. Omitting Bruce Springstein's "The Wrestler", Christopher Nolan, and Rosemary DeWitt is ridiculous. I can't say that I'm at all interested in watching the telecast this year.

  • MY PREDICTIONS!! Supporting Actress: Viola Davis or Marisa Tomei Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger Lead Actress: Anne Hathaway or Kate Winslet Lead Actor: Sean Penn Director: Danny Boyle Original Screenplay: Dustin Lance Black Adapted Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy Foreign Language: Waltz With Bashir Animated Feature: WALL-E Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire or Milk
  • actually....................

Supporting Actress: Viola Davis or Amy Adams

  • MY PREDICTIONS!!

Supporting Actress: a shock win for Taraji P. Henson

    Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger

Lead Actress: Meryl Streep or Kate Winslet.. but leaning a little bit more towards Kate

Lead Actor: Sean Penn or Mickey Rourke... but leaning a bit more towards Penn

    Director: David Fincher BITCH!

Foreign Language: Waltz With Bashir... it's almost as obious as the Ledger win

    Animated Feature: WALL-E... equally obvious

    Best Picture: Benjamin Button!

  • DOW-NEY! DOW-NEY!

  • why so serious ????

  • worst nominees ever !

Sally hawkins , Rosemarie Dewitt , bruse springsteen lose !!!

    Slumdog so fuck !!!

  • ughh im mad dev patel didn't make the cut he was amazing!

  • yup I thought he'd be the one surprise nod of this year but he got left out D:

  • I'm actually not surprised that he didn't get a nomination but he still did a really good job though

  • lol "tropic of thunder"
