Leave Gilman heading east, and when you get to that town, it has a strange look. All metal buildings, and no old houses or storefronts are there, at least in the business district, and along Rt 24. It was all nuked in that fire.
From what I know, it was the first such disaster in the U.S.. Broke down half the city, because the firefighters really, it does not know what "it" must do.
my aunt use to live there and of course remembers it very well. they had the 25 years later in 1996 celebration of this when i was a teen. boring little town but some love that way of life.
I LIVE HERE!!!!! out here they have a festival called the fireball festival every 4 years to honor those whom helped and live through it

I am from this town, too. My grandparents lived outside town, and my mother saw the fireball in the sky.
