I get inner peace & ecstasy out of Odissi. I would never do anything to dilute it.Creativity has been used in interpreting different songs, mainly tarannas by noted maestros like Ravi Shankar, Pohankar, Rehman. The language of Odissi has been used for this interpretation.

This is a collection of different performances over a period of time - classical odissi repertoire as well as choreographies to different songs. My dance steps are pure Odissi. There is no bollywood style or impurity in my dance. Dancing to Bengali songs or popular tunes in a classical dance style is a trend very much popular in Kolkata. There is nothing offensive about it

I understand your love for Odissi. I would like you to see my ashtapadis lalita labanga & chandana charchita.

My sincere request do not alter the pure form of odissi, just to bring some credit to yourself. If you want to contribute to odissi then try to compose like Guru Kelucharan who didn't make the dance impure, you can be famous and respected. And please do not be encouraged by people who are not well aware and knowledge of the dance ,there are plenty of people who still buy tickets in US to see odissi in its purest form , they will never fail to appreciate you.

Keep innovating - you have a great style. I have been close to Odissi performances for the lat 20 years and can tell that you have real talent. Do not get discouraged by comments from old fogies who do not want to mix the old with the new. Innovation is the key to progress for any art form Odissi is no exception.

@3211maya odissi dance odissi music and odissi costume together make odissi dance odissi. We have many types of dances in India, what makes the 7 classical dances unique is their own style and purity from ancient times. If it is ok to bring non-odissi songs then tomorrow it will be ok to bring a change in costume and then a change in gesture. What will the point in learning Odissi dance if we start making it impure step by step. Is not same as bollywood dances then when they blend all.
