secret to hiding a grow when you live at home is to keep your room clean and do your own laundry so theirs no reasons for anyone to come in and put box behind a out lit so u don't have to hide the cord. one site of the cord and its a path to your box.

It depends. Marijuana has two stages of growth: vegetative and flowering.  In the vegatative stage, the plant grows bigger and bushier, but does not produce bud. You can veg for years, or less than two months. You then cut the light cycle from 24/7 to 12 hours a day, and it starts to flower (produce the bud).

Generally lasts two to four months, depending on how big you let it get (in a grow box, you veg quickly so it doesn't grow too big for the box.

Cheapest way to do it is to get a cardboard box (for 1 or 2 plants, make it 1 ft by 1.5 or 2 ft, 3-4 feet high (can be lower for low growing strains, higher for bigger strains). That's free. Coat it with mylar or paint it white inside (should cost less than 5 bucks). Get CFLs (cheapest light option), for 1 or 2 plants, should cost 20-40 dollars, depending where you buy them. Take apart a lamp so you have the light socket and the wire, and hang it on the inside of the box.

You can just use some old lamps, or you can buy a double socket adapter, and an adapter that plugs the lightbulb into an outlet. Not too expensive. Get some quality, low acid soil, 10-20 bucks. Get some pots (could be free if you've got them lying around, or some good sized buckets). Nutrients: Cheap, less than 5 bucks. Timer: Pretty sure less than 10 bucks, you probably have one though.

you can get orchid fert which has like 30-12-12 its great shit. You only want to use this for growth. You want to switch over to a fert high in potassium and phosphorus for budding. its not a good idea to grow in your room, thats the first place a suspicious parent will look. Try and make a secret compartment in another part of the house that doesnt draw a lot of attention, eg. a storage room or if you have your own seperate bathroom try there. Just my two cents and i hope i could help

just a bit of advice.. your nutrients are 0-10-10 which means there is 0 nitrogen.. 10% phosphorus and 10% potasium..

in the vegetative stage (pre flowering) you want a high level of nitrogen to ensure good leaf growth for a healthier plant. so you would want something like a 10-5-5 or a 25-10-10.. and switch to a 10-15-10 after flowering has started...

cfls have benifits and draw backs. there are 100 % p.a.r which means that the plant can use all of the light provided to it. they create little heat. but do lack the high intensive lums that mh or hps supply. i use 2 250 watt cfl with great results but there big. 14 inches long. i spose that i average 30,000 to 35,000 lums from the two. but in a sealed room my temp stays at 28 c or less.

He's an idiot. Regular light are high in red light which promotes rapid plant growth but it makes the stems weak and spindly. When it comes time to flower ur plant the stems will be to weak to support the buds and ur plant will topple over and die. Regular bulbs are okay to use during the germination and beginning of the vegetative stage though.
