I wonder what this reunion will sound like? (IT FLIPPIN BETTER BE ON YOUTUBE CUZ THEY SOLD OUT IN 3 HOURS, I WAS GONNA GO!') I noticed that after ROC came out Omar got progressively ambient/dissonant, and Jim just kept playing the written material, I've payed attention to TMV and Sparta (TMV's my personal favorite) and I really can't imagine how its all gonna sound now.
@kjuyhfklujhkuyf I've searched 'At the drive-in interview channel V' but came up with nothing. I talked to Jim on Twitter shortly after he posted on here and he confirmed he is indeed of Welsh ancestry (where I live!!)
I love how Letterman keeps having them on. You know he's thier biggest fan! 11 people who've watched this obviously own Justin Bieber buttplugs and use as pacifiers after he tests them. Bless them! Thanks for the upload!
I hate how Cedric thinks of himself as some godlike creature, but always pusses out when it comes to singing the difficult parts live. Dave Grohl for example does the same, but he's humble, unlike Cedric...
@djjdchampion1 talented in what respect? Grohl is an amazing song writer and one of the best drummers of the last 25 years. i dont see one as better than the other. both are incredible musicians. both have strengths and weaknesses.
They drag rhythmically fucking a lot that's why the performance is terrible. I love ATDI but I know this is shitty performance. (The song still manages to be great though)
That's true, but this is liveliness. Complete craziness would also include a lack of instrumental and rhythmic ability. Complete craziness like Jim Morrison playing "The End" in the gig referenced in the film. Is there something wrong with how At The Drive In are playing here?
Lmao. Jim Morrison. I was talking about the way they dance not the way they performed with there instruments and vocals. They're is a diffrence as you know. If I found the preformance in general bad I would have said so.
I find with this song in particular, you can see how much these guys influenced the band Billy Talent. BT is not quite as good of an execution, but an interesting band nonetheless
i know hey thank you for saying something....i mean...if you listen to one armed scissor....and then listen to like "try honesty"....or "line and sinker"....they have the same kinda vibe...which is fantastic!
Now that you mention it, you're right! I love Billy Talent, but certainly you can see the similarity here, of course, BT, like any pupil, is still lacking a bit.
Even if it was, it's better than just standing there not getting into your performance. I mean really...I just find it hard to not enjoy it. The energy is amazing.
your a joke teenagefreedomfightr, that name is retarded and RATM is not like at the drive in or the other way around. they sound completely different and both are good
As for names... Maybe ironic hypocrisy is over your head.
Although due to the tasteless such as yourself I can't actually see what I posted before I can assume. If you can't see the vocal impression for the first half of the song you are clearly deaf.
He does sound quite a bit like de la Rocha but I wouldn't attribute that to the fact that they both have Mexican heritage. Although yes the rapping would be a large part of both of there styles. Zach was professionally performing many years before Zavala and nationally popular at least 3 years before him.
at the drive in were so ahead of their time- still one of my all time favorite bands- i just saw tmv last month the show kicked so much ass but its like cedric lost energy or will to be energetic if atdi WOULD re-unite it would probably be epic for 1 quick tour and thats it just for those of us that didnt get a chance to see them live or those that were privileged that would love to see them again
i dont really see the point of reuniting atdi theyre music sounds good for theyre year but now it would be lame...and if they try and do anything else i think it would not sound like atdi so i dont see the point...
At the drive-in went tits up for various reasons, after relationship of command. Then they all went away for a while, and the guys with the big hair formed Mars Volta, the others formed Sparta. Good god i wish i'd seen atdi when they were together... *sighs*
Every dildo who is saying The Mars Volta is better than Sparta or Sparta is better than TMV, you assfucks need to shut the fuck up and enjoy BOTH bands. Still makes me sad that I never got to see them live. I had tickets to go see them at the Huntridge ( Vegas ) and about a week before the show, they were no more. But the video shows that there was clearly a divide between Omar / Cedric and the rest of the band.
You can't really compare TMV and ATDI. 2 completely different styles. You can say you like one more, but that's opinion. ATDI was based on pure energy, TMV is much more produced and layered over. I like ATDI's method much better.

I go back and forth over that. The music, no doubt, is amazing, and Thomas' drumming definitely gives it a new feel (in a good way). There are times when I really dig Cedric's vocals. Like the opening of the album for instance. Other times, however, I'd prefer it if it wasn't so processed. I don't dislike it. I can't blame them for wanting to try something new.
