TCS is my favorite song. Of any band, of all time. Hearing it being born makes my hair stand on end. I want to weep. As someone else said, you have no idea what this recording means to me. I could listen to Phil doodle on the kit for hours. Thank you for posting this.
I love the fact that you can hear them playing with the ideas till they like it. Every young band out here should listen to this. Thank you. Oh and for those young bands. A jam session starts with a riff, melody line or a rhythm. Not with an already recorded song! wink.
Did you used to work with Genesis in a studio years ago by any chance?

Edit these together with Audacity and you could make an interesting alterntative version. Where did it come from?

outtakes like these are good for deconstructing the legends that great songs just fall from the sky, like some
like to suggest.
music and songmaking is a craft like every other occupation

the song was in another key! Or is the tape played a little faster? It seems to be an A chord instead a G...

Terragen, this too is my favorite song (of all time); to hear part of its genesis like this is serendipity like no other.
