without any dlc (besides the free stuff) you can play lone wolves ranked, squad battle ranked, mlg ranked, and you can play social slayer unranked and i think there is one more objective style one ranked....you dont need to ay for the new maps to play good games

Bungie is curretnly in productrion of Halo Odst which will be released in september.

Also Bungie are in production of their Secret project ( they revealed at E3) Which is Halo : Reach. They said they were going to give a halo reach beta once u buy Halo odst, so bungie aren't putting all their mind& effort into Halo 3 anymore.
