Alright everyone lets all try to get along and there isn't any politics discussed in my channel or they will be deleted. Elvis respected everyone. So please lets keep our discussions on his music and his charities.
@cavalierfan, actually the Beach Boys beat him to it by a few years. Their "Party" album, although recorded in a studio, was the Beach Boys with Jan and Dean, plus Glen Campbell on bass, all playing acoustic instruments and singing live. Many friends and wives were there too singing along. It sounds a lot like this Elvis show. Barbara Ann is the big single from this LP, but it's a whole album of that stuff, complete with false starts, joking around, etc. Check it out.
i was born in 1984 but i love him soooo much, my mum was a big fan n i grew up listening to him....he is fuckin gorgeous i would give anything to of been around when he was....
I still remember my mom sitting and crying on the news of Elvis's passing. He was and will always be KING. He is the greatest Rock-a-Billy of all time the #1 Rebel.
E. was scared shitless for his seemingly faded career at this point. He had somthin to prove and he DID it like no other b4 or since. viva elvis long live the king of rock n rollllllllll
I love this you could really feel the bond between the musicians and their love for it and their raw talent. Something you never see nowadays. This my friends were the days
back then ther was no tech making u sound better thts pure singing from he sole ill bet out no1 s got better voice and sole thn him in our life time thts for sue
this was originaly supposed to be a christmas special with special guests, cheesey christmas numbers and lame jokes. In one of the few times he put his foot down with parker, elvis decided to do it this way. BEST MOVE EVER!!!
elvis saw The Doors tv performance on the Ed Sullivan Show playing Light My Fire in september 67, Jim Morrison wearing leather, that's when he decided to wear leather too on Special Come Back 68, i've read.
isn't it amazing elvis only gets 90,000 views but yet chris Issak gets 15 million what the hell is goin on. Dont get me wrong christ Issak is amazing but ELVIS is the king>!!!!
Elvis really had a natural way with the guitar, this was amazing. Can you believe this was in 68?? I'm sure this was big news the next day! What a legend!
@fieryhand Who doesn't like Elvis? Elvis is the king, his music is always played on the radio at Christmas time. I'm 17 and I love Elvis, my room is decorated Elvis.
I have a shelf in my room with 2 12" Elvis statuettes, a singing novelty fish with "Don't Be Cruel" and "All Shook Up", an Elvis 1968 Comeback bobblehead, and a few CD's. (Elvis Greatest Hits, 1968 Comeback Special, Afternoon In The Garden, and a CD with 3 patriotic songs)
@fieryhand There is Beyonce, Jenifer Hudson, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Fergie from the Black eye peas. Yes Lady Gaga is flamboyant but so was Elivis in his day. As for male Jay Z and Kanye west, R- Kelly, Chris Brown, and Will I am make great R&B music and produce for other artist. You said talent all these artist are singers, song wrighters or produce there and play there own music. Prince is another example. And Micheal Jackson who passed away in 08 had all there talents combined
@hetjaar Oh shut up! If you knew anything about Elivis you would know most of the things he did and supported was so called "left" wing. He was for the civil rights movement, supported the advancement of "colored" being able to eat at "Whites" only places and never said he was for or against the war. However his wife later said as the war went on he was against it. And trust me there more right wing nuts that didnt like Elivis because they thought he moved and dance black. So you got it backward
you really got to stop and wonder what elvis could have accomplished if he hadn't had Parker thinking for him. so many of Parker's decisions were just plain dumb! firing Scotty Moore and company is just one of the most obvious examples of that!
I recall watching this in 1968, and I still don't understand why they had to put Elvis' little suck-up, Charlie Hodge, on stage for this. He damn near ruined it.
comeback, never needed ! he was the king, and forever will be the king of good quality, apolitical entertainment ! god be with you elvis. my videos are better. my videos rock.
Today, they try to be cool, they are looking for something special to sucseed. It was the best show in Elvis' career, he is the coolness itself. Never ever befor or after heimself or somebody else was a greater performer. Elvis forever - forget the rest!!!
This Elvis 14 years into his career - think about other artists at 14 years into their careers. The Beatles as great as they were never even made it 14 years, Led Zeppelin never made it 14 years, Keith moon was dead 14 years into The Who's career, and the Stones were already a greatest hits act 14 years into their career. This is a display of a vital, dynamic performer choppin' at the bit to showcase his enormous talent. This special is the epitome of why Elvis is indeed The King of Rock.
it's a shame bill black passed away before they had this reunion, it would have been awesome to him slap that bass with elvis and scotty like back in the 50's
elvis proves in the 68 comeback that he was the king he shows the world how to rock artist today should watch and learn how to do it this is real rock
I adore this man - what more can I say? I can never get enough of his incredible voice, his unbelievable beauty, his amazing charisma and sex appeal, his charming personality, his endearing sense of humour...
"Come here, baby", he says to the microphone. Indeed!!! ;-)
Read the Greil Marcus book, "Mystery Train". In it he writes about the TV special as Elvis' one chance to reclaim what was once his,"...he'd been a joke for a long time."

This special really gets good in parts 3, 4, and 5. Elvis is kind of a funny performer. I haven't heard or seen that much of him. He does something throughout the performance that keeps steadily building. In a five minute segment or one song you don't quite get what he does. It's over time it starts to unfold and build intensity. Sort of like some kind of spiritual upheaval. I know it sounds trite but it's the best way I can describe it. I have to say he's pretty impressive as a performer.

@surfmcgoogler Not trite at all just the truth. Elvis was very special. I wasn't a fanatical fan back then, I was more of a Beatles man but now that I'm more mature I can see his magic.
