I performed the clayton mod on my '08 VTX1300R today and used four 1/2" holes and put flat black paint on them when it was done. I only went through the endplate. But after watching this video, I may drill one deeper into the first baffle. It now sounds sooooooo much better. In the Immortal words of Gene Simmons..........I LOVE IT LOUD!!!!! This mod will keep me happy until I can afford my Roadhouse Doolys.
so u did 1/2 inch bitt and how far apart and how long was the bitt did u drill them i was told 2 do 12oclock 3oclock 6oclock 9oclock which is 8 holes is that 2 many
Sounds good! Seven holes at 1/2 in. sounds like alot though. Are you not getting any backfire when you ride or lacking any back pressure? I drilled my baffles also, but followed the instructions from an engineer at Ford Cosworth who experimented on his VTX and drilled until he went one hole too many. Then he plugged it with a screw and simply gave instructions to drill one less than he did. If I remember correctly they were under half inch and for sure less than seven. But yours does sound good
Have you found anything else to improve the pipe sounds. Also, have you lost any MPG?
Thanks
