Why anyone would give IV fluids instead of water in that kind of situation is beyond me... it's not like they're in a sterile environment, and it's near-freezing to boot. Letting the stomach warm the liquids before it enters the bloodstream? I'm not so sure about this resident. Yikes.
@Mvnkae Hey, alex here. Not to worry about the quality of the resident :) It is possible to start an IV easily in these conditions in a sterile manner, and no, did not actually infuse any IV fluid b/c you're correct that cold fluid would be counterproductive! After all, we had lots of water since we were camping by a lake ;)
@ShitWrangler No mobile pharmacy I'm afraid! Just a some Tylenol and Advil that I was taking for the brutal IT Band pain I was having. The show sort of blew that out of proportion but hey, it's tv and that comes with the territory! Otherwise, just a little lidocaine for starting the IV (see my other comment about this elsewhere on here ;) Hope you enjoyed the episode!
@alexblais1 note to self never inject with needles on tv to avoid producer exploiting/embellishing for drama. they should have cut back to that scene with you on a knee injecting after you got caught to make you like a human pin cushion/drug addict lol. you shoulda brought along some legal to buy in Canada OTC Tylenol 1 with that hint of opiate, tylenol is worthless poison (i don't need to tell you). good job either way.
I was thinking about hiding an APRS radio in a stuffed animal the way they hid a noise maker. Now ManTracker will not fall for that. Too bad. Knowing exactly how far away, and which direction he is would give the prey a big advantage.
