@Jamhet22 you can't say that they DONT HAVE a middle class.. most african countries and most south american countries have a middle class.. it might not be large.. but it exists.
@elegance212 Well, by saying "don't really," I meant to imply comparatively to many industrialized countries where the majority of the population is middle class. In contrast with the U.S., England, Germany, etc., most countries in South America and Africa have a large dip when it comes to middle income citizens. It's a sad fact of life that can't be masked by tourist attractions forever.
I am speechless. I am from the Ivory Coast, from a little village near the Ghanaian border. One could say that I have cousins on the on the Ghanaian side. I visited Ghana decades ago, back when Ghana was considered (by most ivorians) as a failed country. Now look at your country. All west africans are proud of what Ghana represents today. Peace, harmony. I love you guys. This music resonates through my entire body. I should visit Ghana one more time. I will. I love you guys.
@yueguishu I doubt it I mean Fela Kuti listened to Nigerian highlife and it inspired him to do afrobeat but he said Nigerian highlife is very playful and upbeat music. Party music or dance music so I doubt there was anything political about it in Ghana too.
masterful blend of voice and music and the delicate guitar rythm; fantastic composer, a small masterpiece.........evocative of certain time and moment from the pre-colonial times
Thanks for these beautiful soulfull photographs and introduction to this variety of highlife...so inspiring and restorative for peoples of all nations.
The one dislike is a snooty British bloke in tights and a powdered wig.

@elegance212 Many countries don't really have a middle class, especially in Africa and South America. Sad, but true.
