This pilot and the 2nd were the re-teaming of Allen Ludden and his last "Password" announcer on CBS, Lee Vines. Actually, when the final and classic version of "The Joker's Wild" was finally picked up by CBS, both Barry and CBS wanted Ludden to host the series, but by that time he was at ABC with the continuation (it was never reffered to as a "revival") of "Password." So, the man from here in Lindenhurst, New York took the helm himself. Note much of his old "Concentration" staff on the credits.
Two other first choices for the job were Tom Kennedy and Wink Martindale, but both men were also already committed to other projects. (Kennedy hosting "Split Second" and Martindale hosting "Gambit.")
Sandra ansd Richard battled it out grat under a format only attempted one other occasion after this one. It was dramatic all the way to the end although Sandra could have had a bonus question if Richard missed the intended final question. I guess somebody was going to win a bassinet one of these times; I hope Richard has a small child. This pilot needed some retooling badly; Allen was good but was too mechanical here. The clebrities needed to go to. I give it 2.5 stars; a good work in progress.
The only thing I liked about the original pilot was The Savers. I like that theme over Joker's Jive. Unfortunately I am glad this didn't get picked up. The rules sounded too confusing.

@pooka5472 plus if Wink got this show, who'd host Tic Tac Dough

Most 40 year old tapes even aren't this jumpy. Must've been a bad videotape the trader got.

Anyone surprised that Jack produced this pilot.
And what was with all the skipping?
Hondo20132 3 years ago
The tape must've been old from the trade or something like that.

Thank goodness Goodson-Todman didn't pick it up and Jack got a 2nd chance.

Entertaining, but I can see why this particular format did not sell, it would eventually though in '72!
