I trained many years of Shotokan Karate and have great respect for Master Enoeda, I now teach and train Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu which is my own choice and preference, however I respect all martial arts and never forget my beginnings, my gratitude to Masters like K. Enoeda.
It's actually really good to have acerwk in all of the video comments, because then you can assure yourself that you're watching a real shotokan video, probalby with an old sensei.
OSU,I agree acerwk should be banned. From the sounds of things he is a looser. If he was in front of Enoeda Shihan I gurantee to all, that literally he would have shit his pants.I invite acerwk to join up with Shotokan(A reputable Dojo) which is affiliated with any of the Shotokan masters,be it JKA,SKIF,or with Yahara Sensei,Abe Sensei e.t.c
I Have Seen Your Pesky Comments All Over Youtube Videos About The Shotokan Style Of Karate Acerwk Is This Your Stupid Pleasure Get A Life And If You Have No Respect For This Man He Achived So Much In Life That You Couldent Even Compare So If Anyone Agrees With Me I Petition He Gets Banned From Youtube
Wow it is a strange world we live where anyone can mook such a wonder as a Master a Living ,Walking, Breathing, Master!! Having trained with JKA Masters and Demura Sensei and there students also moving to las vegas and training with Master Ozawa These men are beyond understanding unless you can spend time with and trainunder them.
basics such as oi tzuki are only a training method to learn how to move in the way of karate e.g. hip rotation. if all we did was train oi ztuki then we wouldnt be able to fight but we would be learning how to move in the style of karate. learning to apply this knowledge of the body is a different skill and once applied..thats when you begin to learn to fight ;) without basics(kihon) there is no karate...
hope this helsp you understand why we repeat oi tzuki :) have fun :)
holy crap dude...youve ebeen commenting for lik 6 months.. thats pretty hardcore..lmao...you must really hate shotokan huh..you must be a really bad fighter too lmao..instead of commenting on this vid why not just practice..
you are an idiot and well known, therefore nobody takes time to answer you.Look at Machida,he is a Shotokan Karateka and BJJ black belt who won the world title. You stupid idiot.
have taken up karate for the last 6 months, have been introduced to the magic world of these great men, trained under kanazawa last week here in ireland, these great men have an aura and humbility which cant be matched, rest in peace KEINOSUKE ENOEDA
I have seen more "No good!" comments of you on YouTube. Mr Enoeda was a great Shotokan sensei. If you don't understand or care, please don't comment on videos.
And nobody answer me.Where are the practial drills in Shotokan?Where are the drills against roundhouse punches/low kicks with the shin/takedowns as grapplers do?what a crap
I sure hope your karate is better than your English - please expand on 'what a crap'...! You torture the English language, and you probably do the same to whatever style of martial art you're attempting to learn.
I guess some men (I use that adjective loosely in your cae) are just born stupid and their stupidity simply gets worse. However you do manage to provide us with a laugh; everyone laughs at a clown.
Oh and to add to this particular question..what makes you think we dont do freestyle drills? its a fighting art of course we do!...the inexperienced eye just looks at the repetition of oi tzuki and looks no further into the study of shotokan...shotokan and karate are such huuuuuggeee topics!! there is so much to think about and so many different aspects of it! :)
My Mum trained for her 1st dan under sensei Enoeda and always tells me about how great a man and martial artist he was... though sadly i never got to meet him... RIP Sensei Enoeda.
My Sensei had trained under him, he tells us his experiences with him, I hold high respect for all of the Shotokan teacher's my Sensei had learned from. Sensei Enoeda RIP.
I trained in a KUGB Dojo for 4 years back in the eighties and obtained all my kyu grades under Sensei Sherry. Not sure what happened to the KUGB after the death of Sensei Enoeda but it saddened me greatly to see the demise of the KUGB. In my day it boasted around 400 clubs with about 40000 members at its height. Sad that it is now only a shadow of its former self.
I trained quite a few times with Sensei. Good memories.....sometimes painful. But that was the spirit of Shotokan. Sensei Kawazoe came to teach here in 75 I think and then there was Sensei Hideo Tomita who graded me Shodan in Scotland. Great memories. Oss.
He graded me at Marshall Street to purple belt (I think) back in around 1993-4. He was one intimidating man. However, winning the Southern Regions competition in 1995 (London Uni) beating Marshall Street along the way remains one of my greatest sporting achievements.
He graded me up to 2nd Kyu, around 1997. I must say though, although I had a great respect for him, I wasn't intimidated. In my opinion, that was his style, sort of like a father/uncle figure, with a calm serenity. Almost as if he didn't need to intimidate - he had nothing to prove.
Actually, Sensei Ohta was more intimidating if you ask me. He was scary, knew how to tell you off if your technique was off.
That said, I didn't train there regularly, so maybe others had different experiences.
Sensei Enoeda, the grueling training you gave me while I was growing up has given me the great discipline I possess and made me into the person I am today. You were the hammer that shaped the sword I was to become. I'll never forget you or the greatness of Shotokan. Rest in peace.
Reffed me in my first fight at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Disqualified me for being too aggresive and not listening. LOL. Young and daft. Don't think he liked my instructor Jan Bujak either. He was the best though. What happened to Henry Wickson? Another great.
Corrected me many times in Marshall Street and honoured that I had the opporunity for him to do so. Greatly missed. The KUGB needs to continue, would be pretty disrespectful if it wavers, where are the students putting their efforts in. And the people leaving the JKA once Sensei Enoeda died? whats that all about? Were all the people he taught not worthy to have been given his time? Splitting from an association, that sux
enoeda was a great sensei i am a black belt in shotokan i was training for 8 years. enoeda was a strong man. he put the physical part of karate to the test to any that studied with him try to train hard like him.
I first encountered him when he was 6th dan. He taught Frank Brennan and Jimmy Brennan Senseis. Excellent karateka and nice characters, as karate teaches one to be. Are you? A foul, aggressive mouth is not keeping the Dojo Kun: "Strive for the perfection of character"
Are you an utter prick or something? Andy sherry was enoedas number 2 in Britain he is mentioned in the video a number of times and also he is in this video at 3.25 noticably talking to enoeda you absolute disrespectful, innane, nuncy headed cocksucker. You upset a lot of people you do not want to upset with your comments so be careful. You should not have the name jion080981 with your mouth.
I met him once in 2002/2003, he seemed like a nice enough guy, I did shotokan and was under KUGB (back in early 90s) dont really follow the politics, why is he and asshole and why shotokan is being destroyed? Anyone kind enough to explain?
My only real memory of Mr Enoeda is him sitting in the pub with my instructors after a grading drinking what looked like a pint of bitter. Certainly earned my respect - good at karate and an ale drinker!
I remember first training under Enoeda sensei (about 1966) at the Manchester Sports Guild. There were only a few of us and we trained on a bare, concrete floor. The training included some throwing techniques! During a brown belt grading at Sendai in Sunderland, a karateka had to demonstrate focus by punching at a pen held by Enoeda. Unfortunately he hit the pen and I remember Sensei immediately jumping over the table and giving the karateka a good lambasting. He was a true karateka.
