  • WHY the guy sings the song ? why not the real singer

  • Sometimes music is just so personal. I love this track and DM, but aparantly they themselves dont rate it.

  • destinctive sound and melody. simply unique.

  • Great Song! Like it a lot!

  • Dave Gahan came far from starting out as a Basildon chav, and became an 80's superstar and member of one the top bands of their time, he's had some episodes since though! The mode went crap in the 90's though.

  • For me this is their BEST song.

LOL at Alan Wilder lip syncing because the band were too scared to tell the director Dave Gahan is lead singer.

  • Thumbs up if you always remain ultimately selfish ;)

  • COME BACK ALAIN WILDER!!!!

  • This song is referenced in the book

    "I Fysche

    II Fysche

    Raw Fysche

    Gold Fysche"

who will be interviewed Tuesday June 14 10amEST on SpirituallyRawDOTCOM

Thank you Depeche Mode for being so inspirational !!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh hai, awesome video. Have you tried bee4biz (You can google it) they actually pay a lot more and they pay faster I started earning like 10 times more. You get paid to make and post short links.

  • Great DM song, my fav from that era! Man look how young they look :)

  • 6 had lost their balance

  • @bassuan I thougt it was "Dreaming of me". In that point I would agree! ^^

  • the best

  • LA MEJOR MUSICA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS

  • Damn, Alan Wilder is so good-looking back then...

  • @bassuan They don't say that. It's their worst video. Some famous director got to do it, and wrongly assumed Alan was the singer. They guys were pretty shy at the time, and perhaps they didn't know about the misunderstanding until it was too late. This video was voted worst video ever - by any group - about ten years ago on Swedish TV channel ZTV. (Enjoy the Silence voted best. Apparantly lots of DM fans voting.)

  • I think one of their best not worst

  • @bassuan Have they *heard* "Flexible"?!

  • D.M. should be very very proud of this song! It's classic KROQ!

  • @lasquid Yeah Man rememer the KROQ parties in the Valley. Those days were the tits. I remember seeing Julie Brown perform "homecomming Queen's got a Gun" at the Tennesee Gin & Cotton. Forrest Whittiker & Dana Plato were there.

  • I adore this video:) the lyrics are great

  • Favorite song of my childhood! it always reminds me of listening to it on a tape, and it would sometimes "blur" out! GREAT SONG

  • Super:::)))

  • love the middleclass

    blame the middleclass

    love is happier

    division of labor

    ain't all bad!!!!!

  • Dave Gahan is lead vocals, Wilder is just lip-syncing

  • autisticaplanet's new year's resolution 2011.

  • Just heard this the other day and I had totally forgotten about it! This is one of the best songs period of the 80's!

  • @gahloot Same here...I haven't heard this one since I was a kid. I had to do some background info on it - turns out that it was never released on an album (at least here in the USA), but it was a part of some singles compilation that I have never heard of. Regardless, it's a real diamond in the rough and I'm glad I re-discovered it!

  • @retrostatic My friend her in California was a DJ,and he would always play this back in the day in the club! I was with a friend of mine last week and she said listen to this u might like it? And I said are u kidding we used to love that song! Ah the great ole days! I miss them! Merry Christmas!

  • @bassuan They do? I'm not much of a DM fan, but this one is creative musically.

  • the song is great and I know it was the early 80's but the director and producer did a awful job of syncing the lyrics to the video.

  • i absolutely love seeing their old school videos :)

  • Shame the video is so awful because the track is absolutely magnificent...

  • @AtollK1950 I don't believe so. It depicts perfecty the meaning of the words. I wish that musicians would make such videos today. Instead of a load of butts, tits and nonsense.

  • @Alexmiao well said mate, spot on!

  • @bassuan prob cos' dave gahan wasn't on vocals, one of my favs

  • @levisguy53 Dave was on vocals but when they were shooting the video they were too shy to tell the director that he was actually the lead singer.

  • hell yeah, alan wilder on vocals!

  • @levisguy53 Alan was only mouthing the words. They were actually to nervous to tell the director that Dave was actually the lead singer.

  • @sfinn85 yeah perhaps for the video but if you check an credits concerning this song, alan does indeed provide vocals

  • love it!!

  • My favorite version of this song is the original 12-inch version of this. It used to be downloaded on You-tube but it has disappeared. Please, please somebody download again. It's probably my favrorite early Depeche Mode song.

  • @tgeighties yeah! post the 12 inch version please

  • @bassuan What, did they ? OmG

  • wikipedia says: "In the music video Wilder lip-syncs the first lines of the song, even though Dave Gahan should be singing it. The band were too afraid to tell the director that Gahan was the lead singer. For some reason the director made the assumption that the singer was Wilder and they were to embarrassed to point out his mistake, the video remains this way today."

  • maybe one of the worst video, but simply one the best song from DM especially the extended version.

  • @hazelbrook Have you seen the orig Leave In Silence Vid? Yikes! ; )

  • super piosenka !

    pozDM ;*

  • This is a cracking song! One of my favorite DM songs

  • Amazing song. What?? They think this is one of their worst?? Impossible! :c( I do respect that they are a maturing band, and they do evolve. While I appreciate their newer works (a lot of it has grown on me and I see its wonder), I really like their older works, especially A Broken Frame. However, "What's Your Name?" is pretty bad.lol. They were tested when Vince left, and it really does show they have substance. Then, along came Alan, and they were rock solid.

  • cool song

  • I love this song..no way is this Depeche Mode's worst ever song....

  • @bassuan I also heard that they claim that the one is among worse ones..anyway, i disagree. The older sound much better than many of brand new by theirs.

  • @bassuan ?? Agreed--this is their BEST song, IMO! Great one.

  • This song needs to be part of pre-school curricula throughout the world. Life isn't black and white.

  • MARTIN MARTIN !!

  • Get the balance right! Wiser words,,,,,,

  • Underrated!! Especially by themselves! I would probably cry, if they play this one live.

  • I love this song, i love them, Depeche Mode ! I`m born in late 1981 !

  • really cool

  • And look how big both of the bands are now.

  • depeche is my favorite band and personally I don't know why some people think depeche mode went bad after alan left. I mean there new album is not there best i'll give you that but it still has one of my favorite songs by them like " Jezebel & Perfect " but look at Playing The Angel that u know was something that just was to me one of there best cd's besides violator. Depeche mode did something that very few have done and that is blend almost industrial rock with heavy synths. Gary Numan Did 2

  • I think this isone of their best records, although it was never on an album, and the band never really liked it! Had the 12" record version(showing my age:-), and it was brill!

  • incredibly influential song to electro everything

  • Stupendo video,ci sono i videogiochi(cabinati)e le giostre,un grande tributo,superba canzone

  • Much better, than the new songs of DM

  • Agree however most don't... I live the dirty industrial sound... what happened after Alan left is something totally different..

  • @Robert8341

Yes, i agree - the oldest songs are the best!!

  • @Robert8341

Oh yes, the early DM-Synthie Songs are the best...

  • what a hook love it.

  • @bassuan to me one of their very best early songs ...

  • i love georgia xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • a bit random :p

  • wiked!

  • algunas sonidos suenan como she wolf

  • troppo bella questa canzone

  • toujours DM

    for ever

  • I love DM, I really do, but thank God that Anton Corbijn came along. This video is, erm, yeah.

  • Your audio with the video here is way off dude.

  • "When u reach the top,get ready to drop"......but no....Depeche can't do that...they will always be the best/on top!

  • i love this!!!!beautiful song!!!!!Dave was so different those years!!!!!!!^_^

  • Not a dance record?!?!?! How can that be, when Depeche Mode are part of the blueprint of house music and Detroit techno!

  • Are they??? Love DM and always will, but wouldn't say they were a blueprint for House and Detroit Techno... especially the latter which rests with the trio of Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, plus the music of Krautrock artists like Can, Tangerine Dream and especially Kraftwerk. Early Simple Minds is also up there for being influential.

  • OHHH what a good time.....Never comes back : (

  • DEPECHE MODE ARE THE BEST!!!!

  • i love depeche mode

  • MARTIN GORE is amazingly hot! I love his early days, he was so cute!

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, and Alan Wilder too :D

  • now this song is tight!!! shit i like the keyboards

  • just takes me back... when good feelings were a little more real and reachable for everyone...

  • You know why music can be like this? Its because the mainstream media decided that synth bands were not trendy anymore. Therefore, most present bands don't go for this sound anymore.

  • I love the vid and the song. Music back then was really good, unlike nowaday's music!

  • I think that this shows a sweet DM!

  • be responsible, respectable, stable but gullible concerned and caring, help to helpless BUT ALWAYS REMAIN ULTIMATELY SELFISH::::::::::::::::

  • should be "help the helpless" ;-)

  • I am Italian....my English is terrible!!!! :) :) fiore90

  • Haha, your English is very good and you have an impressive music taste :-) Viva Italia!...and beautiful Italian women!!! :-)

  • thanks for the compliments!!!! but I don't believe to know how to speak who knows well the English how much errors.....:) however I love the depeche mode their music and fantastic especially those trails as this!!! bye bye;)

  • So creative and surreal. I love this. Why can't music and music videos be like this anymore?

  • David so adorable

  • nunca antes vi el video excelente tema
