The guy at 13:57 states that you have to look at the correlation between crime and gun ownership, you can't say that because there are a million other factors that influence the crime rate. My personal opinion about guns is that if anyone can get a gun himself/herself he/she could just be mentally disturbed and kill people with guns. When there are no guns to posess it's so much harder to kill other people, they most of the time commit suicide , which is no good but better than others dieing.

Does your state have a decent education system or/and low unemployment? My hometown in the US has officially the highest murder rate in the country at 20 times higher than the second highest cities murder rate. I love my hometown and you can imagine how I feel about that .

Het wapenprobleem in de VS is buitengewoon moeilijk op te lossen. Een groot probleem is dat de verbetenheid van voor- en tegenstanders zo groot is, in plaats van pragmatisch te denken. Tja, wij weten niet beter dan dat vuurwapens verboden zijn, zij groeien er mee op. Opzich moet iemand gewoon de vrijheid hebben om zelf te beslissen of ze een vuurwapen willen hebben, natuurlijk wel registreren wie er een heeft. Bovendien zijn er veel meer landen waar vuurwapens heel populair zijn, bijvoorbeeld Belgie, Duitsland, Italie, Rusland, Israel en Japan. Paar jaar geleden ook een leerling op een Duitse school die paar leraren, scholieren en zelfs een politie-agent wist dood te schieten.

Het vervelende is dat zodra vuurwapens massaal aanwezig zijn in een samenleving, individuele ontwapening erg onaantrekkelijk wordt. De collectieve veiligheid kan het beste gewaarborgd worden met een geweldsmonopolie bij de overheid (zoals in Europa). De Amerikanen vertrouwen hun overheid daar niet genoeg voor en zullen dus aan hun wapens blijven vasthouden.
