Metsu Shoryuken's damage increases with distance. If you hit it from as far away as possible, it becomes Shin Shoryuken, and does more damage than any other super in the game, if I'm not mistaken.

Shinku hadoken remains the main super move of ryu.. .. Why??? Well, Shinku hadoken is the fastest move when executed from close - it takes no time from charging to strike, allso makes a lot more damage from close. I play 12 years Street fighter (since Street fighter 2 super turbo) and ever since Street fighter Alpha I use it only from close. It is actoaly a clost combat strike that leaves its energy forth.. .. Not a distant attack.
