@Maxwellmoop101 Multi core processors and multiple video cards. One of the easiest and usually cheapest ways to get a multiple monitor trading computer is to go with a gaming computer.
@scuster45 With $5000 you could buy 100,000 shares of the stock. If the price goes up to $.085, and you sold all 100,000 shares you would sell them for $8,500 giving you a profit of $3500 minus any commissions and fees. However keep in mind if the stock goes down to say .02 per share, you would then end up losing $3,000.
I was finally able to bring my account to a amount that i can day trade but been with ETrade for almost ten years and lately trying to day trade i really believe the commission fee is killing my wallet, is the price per share real with lightspeed? I will be saving almost half of my commission fee as it huts when taking in a position. Thanks for any advice.
Hi,, i am really interesfed in trading. I have not started yet, I am going to learn as much as i can before i start. My goal would be to day trade also, what would be an amount to a account that could start a person to have enough to start day trading? Just would like to set a goal for myself, thanks for your time, Joey.
I'm thinking of switching to lightspeed. so what you're saying is lightspeed is a direct access broker then right? they charge per share rather than per trade. how long have you been trading with them and what's your experience? any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!
Hey Averageneo, Lightspeed is a direct access broker. I have been with them for about a year and in general have had a good experience with them. One thing I like is they provide their traders with a phone number if they have any issues and you actually speak to a real person within 10 seconds of calling which is nice if you are having problems.
Hey Averageneo, They are direct access, and charge per share. I have been with them since I believe November 2008 and honestly had a ton of issues my first 4 months and was about to switch. They have since then fixed all of these issues and are continuing to make improvements so I do suggest them now.
Thanks for sharing your video with us. I really like your setup. I know what you mean about having too much information. Right now I have 6 monitors with a news feed, chat room, Quotetracker, trading platform, charting service & email. You can get overwhelmed. Good luck to you and hope you are able to make a living doing this.
Hey Trader, i like your set-up, can you elaborate more on your trading software set-up. I seen that trading software before but i don't remember what it is.
hey brendan, what are your monthly fees with your current setup? i.e. do you subscribe to a news letter? also what stock scanning software are you using at the moment... lately, i've been looking at stock finder pretty strongly ..
just trying to get a feel for what your monthly overhead seems be .. thinking about quitting the day time job in the next couple years so as I mentioned before, i'm in information-gather mode
Hey Greg, I basically have 0 overhead costs. I used to have a news feed, alert software, etc. but I found them not all that useful and a waste of money.
I basically just watch a handful of stocks that I know pretty well. My only real expenses are my commissions and fees which depend on how much I trade of course.
Different traders use different things to help them trade and for the way I trade now I found I really don't need much other than a clear mind :)
Hey Greg, I trade for a living (or try to). I'm somewhat of a newbie (1 year experience) so I am just starting to get around to profitability on a consistent basis.
Each day right now my current goal is only $100/day. I hit that sometimes but I don't yet hit that the majority of the time but am working towards that.
I have over $25k which is the min. for day trading stocks, I usually don't keep a ton more than that in my account since I have 4:1 leverage.
Nice setup.

@scuster45 You can set a stop loss for the trade so that it sells your position if it reaches a certain point.

Very cool
So do you trade for a living or just as a way to generate a little extra cash?
Also, do you have a goal as to how much you're looking to realistically make each day?
Oh also, if you don't mind my asking, how large of an account do you use for your trading?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm just really interested here
