i really wanted to get this car. but its not available here in qatar. so i got the 09 eclispe gt with the sports package instead. its not turbocharged and its fwd. but i got it from the showroom for abt $20k( wasnt a hit in the middle east) and so far i'm happy with it. i reckon the handling of the lancer railliart wud be better but eclipse is great on the straight lines which is almost all the roads over here.

@ChrisM187 my GTI was '06 with DSG, the lancer is a lot punchier and builds up rev quicker, substantially faster and its handling is less understeer footed because of AWD vs the GTI's FWD. the downside, interior quality is nowhere near my GTI and more tire & wind noise..

I have to agree on what he says about the interior. I was amazingly surprised when I saw the Ralliart had essentially the same interior as my sisters Outlander, plastic everywhere, so very disappointing.......still won't stop me getting one.

I couldn't tell cause I have yet to take my RA offroading, altought my RA is faster than a stock Evo at the moment, the Evo's suspension is much better at any time... The RA is confused, it wants to be as soft as a GTS but it isn't, then it tries to be as nimble and focus as an Evo and fails... I seriously think the RA is good for spirited driving, if u want a track car u ought to get an Evo or spend some cash modding the RA, same goes for offroading

I've driven both the sportback and the ralliart and evo...of course the EVO is top of the line and awesome..but the ralliart is just as nice and affordable...but the sportback is pretty sweet too...I personally prefer the standard sedan and trunk but I think it's more about taste..

I had one of these as a demonstrator. Derek, you hit everything spot on. But classic Recaro seats don't have height adjustment. For 2011 the Recaros are being dropped for Ralliart because people are expecting more luxury instead of more racing.

You can order the premium package and get your fancy dash layout. I had the LCD nav system with all the toys, absolute joy!

actually it is a watered down version, as a mitus salesman and former tech. its the same same block as the evo but smaller turbo and intercooler, and does not have the yaw control that the evo has, it's it same system from the evo ix, yaw control is only on the x, plus if you want an evo to mod it, go with the rally, cheaper on insurance, better warrenty and you can take the 16grand you saved from the evo and put it into aftermarket parts and tuning and get something way faster than the evo.

I just test drove one of these today and let me just say that this car can haul ass! It's no EVO by any means, but when that turbo kicked in it put a huge grin on my face. I love the look of the hatch too. This just might be my next car.

i'm not a fan of hatchbacks at all, but I think this one looks leagues better than the sedan. the sedan's ass is slabby and unproportional. the taillights don't sit right. the ass on this one seems to flow into the rest of the car better. i'm actually considering buying one of these, mainly because i miss 2.0L turbo motors, and looks like BR and MachV are going to have plenty of upgrades for this one. sleeper anyone?

@300zx both of these statements are false. this has the same driver selectable differential as the evo, and the same gearbox as well. technically, the gts is a watered down evo, not the other way around. when mitsu did the evo x, they started first with the evolution, then took off the 4wd system and hard suspension to create the regular lancer. this made sure the evo was already perfect in terms of aerodynamics and weight distribution. so technically, every lancer is a watered down evo.

Definitely not the same engine as the Evo 8 (4G63).  Its more similar to the Evo 10.

@bballnavy just a quick observation on your post...but Mitsubishi does market this car as an upgraded Lancer GTS and the engine is not from an Evo 8 (which is the 4g63) this car uses the same 4B11 engine as the Evo 10 but it uses a single scroll turbo & not a twin scroll as that on the Evo 10. On the matter of transmission yes it is the same twin clutch setup but the Ralliart does not have the Sport Plus mode (more aggressive gear change)....not saying you don't know what ur talking about but..

Evo beats STI all day, but this "ralliart" doesn't stack up to WRX. Mitsu needs to work on this greatly, or release a dozen awd turbocharged vehicles so one is garunteed to stick. Thats what Subaru's clusterf*ck of Imprezas do.

And I don't think its a fair competitor to WRX and Sportback, two cars that revel in being the total balance of everything and have all-weather prowess. The GTI is great, but I think most of it's fans should consider getting an actual sports car.

Cool not true .. Please look at the technical spec.. Look at the suspension of the ralliart and the the EVO X. The suspension of the ralliart is based on EVO iX. not the X. The driving dynamics are different too. Now if you look at the technical spec of the ralliart ( Canadian Ver ) its different form the US ver. Pretty honest review. If you have the MMCS installed, the interior get's a face lift. Although, I don't see the interior if the car is mechanically good as the performance cars should be. This is no Luxury car so yeah. Pretty neat.
