  • If you had giant breasts Victor, I'm sure you would haul in millions of views....

  • looking at idols on the internet is a very respectable and highly commendable hobby

  • give him a break, i think it's because he is giving the lessons in english that sometimes he extends the pronunciation of some letters in english to japanese. if he were speaking japanese all the time he probably wouldn't do that

  • @alejovj7

Actually I've been thinking the same thing. And I noticed that when I do throw in a foreign word into any English conversation it does have an accent. But when I only speak Japanese it's not so noticeable.

  • 3:31 LMAO! ZING! You come up with some good one liners in your videos. Kudos.

  • @Cirris

Thanks, I mostly amuse myself but glad to see someone else likes them sometimes.

  • Is it really harder to get rid of an accent when you get older?

It seems to me that older people almost always have an accent even if they been living in a country for 10 years while a young person in their early 20s who has only been there for 3-4 years have a less noticeable accent?

    Yes no?

  • @1234Theme

Yes! Accents are very hard to get rid of! But don't sweat it too much. If they understand you, it's good.

  • you are a mother fucking moron, this is a compliment for you too.. son of a bitch..bastard son, now I am complimenting your parents.

  • Lol, you still got the foreign accent when you speak Japanese.

Try to get rid of the accent to be 1 step better then fluent.

  • @gbatemper123

    then? than!

  • @Gimmeaflakeman English is my 3rd language. Also, like the majority of the people on the internet, most of us do not care about simple grammatical mistakes which most do not care about.

  • @gbatemper123

Let me know if you want a real conversation or you just want to be "right".

  • @Gimmeaflakeman

I see you are not up to the task. Smart move.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman perhaps it would also be an option to say, "...1 step better, then fluent." (adding a comma) Although making grammatical sense, it doesn't make much sense in general...

Why did I even bother? *facepalm*

  • @OngakuZukiSan

No idea what you're referring to. Unless you are also gbatemper123.

But fluency and accent are not related. You can be VERY fluent and have an accent. My father is a published author and has lived in the states for 40+ years. YET he still has a notable accent. There are thousands like him. Are they not fluent? Gimme a break man! I only nitpicked on than/then is because gba was making "perfection" the point.

You should always bother, but you should also always think.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman No I'm not that idiot. lol I was just making fun of his grammar...

  • so what is the name of the movie i wanne see xD

  • 刑事? 多事 才是。

  • My understanding is that gokudou one of the words that proud yakuza use to describe themselves. Another one is ninkyou-dantai, though I've actually heard this rarely. The news uses bouryoku-dan, which means violent groups. They're all the same thing.

  • nothing wrong watching Japanese idols on the internet! ^_^

  • Idiot indicated the greatest degree of intellectual disability, where the mental age is two years or less, and the person cannot guard himself or herself against common physical dangers. The term was gradually replaced by the term profound mental retardation. Yet people call each-other idiots all the time and no one flips shit. Fudge PCness

  • @corle1 You mean the next Time i call someone an Idiot i should call him a profund mental Retard ? Well that makes Sense, and it sounds Intellectual.

  • very interesting

  • side fact for でか: wadoku.de says, it is a modification of the word かくそで (角袖) or かくそでじゅんさ(-巡査), civilian clothes from the Meiji era

  • Thank you for the video.

  • @Nemesis093781

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Hiragana Katagana here I come!!! Thanks for the awesome links!!! Dawg... .

  • whats up with the last font? My new japanese teacher writes that way and i cant understand his handwriting. Everyone writes like that?

  • @MyHugestFan

Last font? Oh, you mean the handwriting style. Think of the alphabet. TEXT is easy, CURSIVE is a bit more difficult. You get used to it.

  • repetition makes things easy =D

  • thank you for the yamasa website, currently learning kanji from my textbook, and it doesnt give the hand written form for everything in my vocab list, this is a great help !! cercl

  • @dominicdit

It's a great site! Also check the tangorin site -- link in the description.

  • As always.. great video Victor.

Thanks for all your hard work.

  • that light switch looks cool

  • too late already subbed to radrey :)

Btw i feel this video was effective and I NEED to start watching your videos again. My Japanese has been suffering this semester.

  • hello, just be yourself...

  • i like your street kanji lessons. great lesson here.

  • 極道 in my opinion feels like its "The way of the Yakuza"

if literal: "the way of the extreme"

along the lines of words such as 武士道(Bushido) The way of the Samurai

    Just my two cents/yen

  • Comment removed

  • It was a good lesson but the robe and coffee mug... kind of creeped me out.. no offense to him but.... yeaaaaaaaaaah~

  • @missy192 ohhh I know you loved it.

  • even if people are looking at idols they still have one hand free to subscribe! just do it!

  • Radrey's moron lesson was the best one so far

  • I think sometimes your lessons are a bit fast. ^^'>

    Kanji is soooooo difficult! T_T

  • @MurdocLC

Really? I thought this one was a bit slow... BUT you know you need to watch this AND practice! A one time viewing ain't gonna make you remember! Grab a notebook and get to work!!

  • @Gimmeaflakeman Well the end was slow and good, it's always good I mean. Just that it's a bit fast for me sometimes these lessons. And you're right, I need to practice harder. Xd

  • That ending with kanji practice could really help somebody like me learn kanji. If you could do something like that continuously we might even become less moronic. :D

  • Is tsuma an insulting word? Like"omae ha(wa) tsuma!!!" or "Urusai!! Tsuma..."

Maybe it's just me! But it allmost sounds like a "curse" word...

    Good video!

Only wish on improvement is to hear some of the older gimmeabreak-songs...instead of the new one over and over again...is it a copyright issue?

then again I could just watch one of your old videos to hear them again...infact..I could watch this video with no sound and listen to the audio from one of our older videos! :P

    MVHH

  • thanks :D:D !

  • Excellent video! Thanks!

  • did you say "spiel"? sounds like^^

  • @OJSimpson21 Yes he did.

  • @MurdocLC yes, I heard it to. German is everywhere. but with yiddish roots: spiel shmiel

  • @maruksoo Its common in english to use "spiel". Like smörgåsbord/smoargasboard. XD

  • more collabs suka! Btw really enjoyed this one!

  • Yay I knew two of the kanji in this lesson lol, 道 and 事, I thought I knew 妻 but I guess I always end up using 奥さん instead XD

  • I really would like speak full Japanese. I was born in japan but I was raised in America I only no simple words I want to make a class study guide lane that a can practice day" ll an then study it an test myself day'll like a hr a day. What ideas do u no so I can make my study assignments with GMAFM. That ur name. Lol

  • actually, I'd be up to making you another J-lesson vid if you'd like.

  • hahahaha. Wow. Thanks Victor. The truth is, I'm not actually looking for subscribers. I'm looking for more people to send a video for the collab. I want to do.

  • @Radrey

searching "Up To Very Criminal" at IMDB gives you "Hell Up In Harlem" the old Fred Williamson flick directed by Larry Cohen.

  • @FromUnderTheRock well, it was a newly released film. Sometimes Japanese films here never make it to IMDB.

  • @Radrey

Yeah, there's not much correlation between more subs and finding people to be in your collabs. . . D'oh!

  • @Gimmeaflakeman well, I'd just like to see some of the good ole faces from youtube japan in this one. That's all. I've gotten some already. Thanks guys!

  • I was too busy looking at idols as well. Damn.

  • CERCL Jerk.

  • @MegaManXRockMan

    D'oh!

  • CERCL~

  • I can't believe more people aren't subscribed to Radrey, he covers all kinds of topics. But perhaps that's the problem. Or his obsession with idols....

  • 新しい語彙を僕に教えてありがとうございます。

    この動画は最高なんだと思います。刑事と探偵、どっちのほうがもっとただのですか?

    あの映画を見なかったけど、「極妻」は怖そうですね。はははっ

    「こと」の使用についてレッスンをいつ作るんですか? ^ヮ^

    待ち遠しい!!!

  • @artboy598

My J students tell me KEIJI is more common... but BOTH are used...

  • Thanks for the Tip on learning Kanji, Victor. I've almost mastered Hiragana and Katakana, and then it's going to be intense Kanji studying.

  • i personal way to study kanji specifically outside of the kanji i obtain in my japanese class is i find a kanji from a multi kanji word and just look up in my kanji/radical order dictionary, its a good past time :)

  • @ciccarello

    I agree. Time consuming...but useful!

  • Man i just asked Miyabi about how she would learn kanji again if she had to. I was kinda wondering if there was a certain way you did it Victor? I totally agree that the alphabets should come first. So far what i have been doing with my flash cards is i take about ten every few days. Then once i know those ten the meaning and romanji of the kanji i get ten more. I review as much as i can also. Anyone else have a certain way they study kanji? ^>^ Mattane!

  • @TheItsumaru

Don't ask a GROWN up Japanese person because they learned the kid way. They repeat the kanji and write them over and over one by one. That helps, but also learning actual vocabulary works. If you learn the reading in one word you'll find that it may be the same reading in another. I've done a few vids on it. Check them out. Just do a search for Gimmeaflakeman and Kanji.

  • 3:33

Gave me a well good giggle there!

  • @TokyoZeplin

Ah, married life ain't bad at all. I just like saying that to piss off Yoko.

  • cool ;p

  • yeah

  • theres also another way to say detective: 探偵

  • The song sounds like Give me a “BREAK” man, not flake.

  • @riskbusin3ss welp. It IS Gimmeabreakman...

  • @sk8tertater

Actually BetamaxDC put both Gimmeabreakman and Gimmeaflakeman in the lyrics.

  • VERY HELPFUL! thnx for another great vid! :)

  • Gaaah! Today's info just took up over a page of my notebook!! xD

  • @meaphe Use an SRS like Anki. It's way better than studying by notebooks.

  • Kanji is so ridiculous. You've been studying Japanese intensively for how long, and still are confused reading a movie title? I swear I give up. lol

  • @Hatterific

After teaching English for 20 years I realize that most humans have what I call "pockets of ignorance". I met a gaijin who lived in Japan but had no idea what the ENOLA GAY was. Seems incomprehensible, but actually all of us don't know certain things that most other people DO know. SOMEHOW we missed that nugget of info. I'm sure most J people knew that there were 2 readings for 刑事 but if you do a search on the net, you'll find a few people asking how to read it. So there you go.

  • interesting video ! the last part with the stroke order was helpful , oh i just followed maggiesensei on twitter she is doing a great job and it's a good way to practice japanese daily ! i'll start to study her lessons tomorrow ^ 0 ^ thumb up for gimmeabreakflakeman !

  • @Gunterrr
