When I saw this flick, one glaring plot hole stood out to me. whether or not it happens, when December 20th comes around the whole world will be in Anarchy! because if the world will be destroyed the next day you must think that anything will happen. and so you want to do things you never should do.
The special effects and acting were the movie's strong points, the story itself refreshing, The only weak point I could find was the film's heavy reliance on action.
On another note I have to admit I still loved the movie thanks to some superb acting and some of the best CGI and special effects in an end of the world movie to date I'd have to say in terms of the "beautiful carnage" it was on par with Independence Day. Definitely see it in theaters if at all (at least for the special effects)... The spill gives another fair minded review of this films kind of coincides with my opinion.

I was dragged by my friends to go see this... and god this movie was awful. But being a Roland Emmerich film, I didn't expect that much in the first place. They should have taken the broken family plot out of it completely, showing a few citizens of different nationalities, and a few governments and their escape to the ships. tbh its not as bad as bradley makes it out to be. The movie was pretty average but had funny moments. I'd give it a 7/10. That black lady was right to say not to insult the mayans. After all did they not predict the planets would align way before our scientists with advanced technology figured it out.
From aliens to monsters to mother nature herself, 2012 reminds us that Emmerich can clearly concoct different ways to endanger mankind, but for once the execution of his ideas actually pays off in an entertaining fashion.
I wish my dad could outrun a giant earthquake, a giant eruption and a giant flood in a car, flew to china and save the world in just a day! a very unrealistic adventure filled with cool especial effects.

2012 proves to be a rather fun and entertaining apocalypse flick, despite all it's cliches, bad acting, stupid dialog, scientific inaccuracies, over-the-top CGI, and it's portrayal of false information about the end of the Mayan Calendar.
2012 is just a film to enjoy watching and you don't just take it seriously literally. Everything is scripted and not really a warning for us that the world will end on 2012. Leave it to the expert and I am sure that they will warn us if this prediction is true and accurate.

It you already watch the trailers, its basically the whole movie. All the best scenes are in the trailer, there's nothing surprising in this movie and the dialog was horrible.

I can't deny the visual effects was good, but the story and acting itself are totally failed.

This is bullshit. As if an apocalypse movie is not going to cause panic especially when there is the mayan calendar and the bible predict it. The Day After Tomorrow had a cause and it could be prevented if it happens, people just have to watch out for climate change but there is nothing anybody can do about the end of the world. This movie slaps people in the face saying PANIC!!! YOUR GOING TO DIE!!!!

Then the trailer/movie isnt using exact information. Bible doesnt "predict" a date for a such event as the end of the world. It only depicts such thing.

I have not read the bible and i am not the only one who hasnt, it is all part of publicity to suck people in who havent read the bible like dumb shits like me. I am not the only one who believes that the movie should have come out after 2012 because it persuades too many people that it could actually happen with the Mayan calendar which is real and in the trailer where it says the bible which isnt true but people who havent read the bible could get persuaded that it could actually happen. DONE!

@FlyingGold You know the movie was made by an American director to be seen by mostly American viewers in the opening box office week. I will admit the plot was weak. They should have taken the broken family plot out of it completely, showing a few citizens of different nationalities, and a few governments and their escape to the ships. Also the scientific premise behind these destructive events was total bs but I think subatomic particles are the new "radiation" of 21st century sci-fi films.

dude you should have learned what a subatomic is in high school... so im trying to be a smart ass, and by "radiation" I meant the kind in original "dawn of the dead" and pre cold war films, etc. And I understood what you said clearly, In fact I agreed with you about the lack of breadth in the locations in the movie, I was just saying it was necessary for the way the plot unfolds

tbh its not as bad as bradley makes it out to be. The movie was pretty average but had funny moments. I'd give it a 7/10. That black lady was right to say not to insult the mayans. After all did they not predict the planets would align way before our scientists with advanced technology figured it out.

From aliens to monsters to mother nature herself, 2012 reminds us that Emmerich can clearly concoct different ways to endanger mankind, but for once the execution of his ideas actually pays off in an entertaining fashion.

2012 proves to be a rather fun and entertaining apocalypse flick, despite all it's cliches, bad acting, stupid dialog, scientific inaccuracies, over-the-top CGI, and it's portrayal of false information about the end of the Mayan Calendar.

2012 is just a film to enjoy watching and you don't just take it seriously literally. Everything is scripted and not really a warning for us that the world will end on 2012. Leave it to the expert and I am sure that they will warn us if this prediction is true and accurate.

Romans were very cruel too , they were still a great civilization, actually, in the past before somebody invented the "human rights" the world was very cruel, many civilizations did sacrifices, pedophilia, Genocide, etc ,and they did it openly
Acts that now are seem as cruelty, just investigate, or easier just watch the history channel alot lol, cruelty was in ALL civilizations.

People, you know the Calendar didn't even end on december 21 or 23. It just ended its 13th cycle, and the mayans just think that is bad luck. The media decided to run off that and make it into a movie.

It you already watch the trailers, its basically the whole movie. All the best scenes are in the trailer, there's nothing surprising in this movie and the dialog was horrible.
